Chapter 29

Evie leaned on the rails in her room's balcony, she stared into the dark space as the cool night breeze blew her hair backwards.

She was immersed in her thoughts, that she did not notice the presence of someone behind her.

"Ma'am," Alexa softly called out causing Evie to move her gaze to land on her.

"Leave!" Evie commanded even before hearing Alexa out, she wanted to be left alone.

Alexa stared at her back for a while before she left, leaving Evie all by herself.

Evie went back to her room and collapsed on the queen-sized bed, she then brought out her phone to chat her mom up.

It had been days since she last heard from her mom, so she decided to chat her up. The duo talked over the phone and Edie briefed her about her marriage issues, her mom then asked her to come over to her house the following day.

"Good morning ma'am," Alexa greeted causing Evie's eyes to open, she yawned and stretched before she sat up on the bed.

"Alexa," Evie yawned saying her name.

"Your bath is ready ma'am," Alexa told her softly, while Evie got off the bed.

Alexa helped her bathe and get dressed, she then went to the dining room to eat.

Surprisingly, Ezekiel was in the dining room, eating, this was the first time she saw him eat, he looked dead drop gorgeous as he munched his food.

'Focus Evie' she reprimanded herself as she walked up to the dining table and took a seat beside him.

Alexa helped her to dish her food, and after that she departed, leaving the couple in the dining room. An awkward silence reigned in the dining room as Evie tried to focus on her food.

Ezekiel finished eating before her and stood up to leave when Evie stopped him,

"I want to request for something, Ezekiel," she said, holding him by his arm.

She followed his line of gaze and it landed on her tiny hand on his large arm.

Oh no! She should not be holding him. Instantly, she took her hands off Ezekiel's arm.

"What do you want?" Ezekiel asked flatly, he had some other important stuff to attend to, rather than sit here and argue with his wife.

"I want to visit my mom," Evie replied, not taking her gaze off Ezekiel.

"Is that all?"

"Yes," Evie replied while Kiel seemed to be lost in thoughts.

"You would have to go with Alexa and some few bodyguards for your safety," Ezekiel said.

"What are you protecting me from? I am visiting my mother and not some stranger!" Evie did not know why Ezekiel was always talking about her safety, as far as she was concerned, she did not have enemies that would want to hurt her, and neither did her parents, so why was he hellbent on protecting her? And what was he protecting her from?

Ezekiel remained mute, he stared at her for a long while before he left the dining room.

Evie gazed at him till he was out of sight, she sighed, what kind of marriage is this? Why does she feel like he was hiding something from her?

She stood up and left for her room, she got dressed and left for her parents' house but not without Alexa and some bodyguards she had never seen in Ezekiel's house before.

"Evie" Sonia exclaimed loudly as she hugged her daughter passionately, it had been a few days since she left but it felt like years

"Sit" her mother gestured to sit,

"What should I offer you?" Sonia asked earning a chuckle from Evie.

"Common mom! I am your daughter and not a visitor, if I need anything, I know where to get it," Evie said with a little smile on her face, though she still had some unsettled matters with her mom, she would not let that ruin her day with her mother.

"Where is Eric?" Evie suddenly asked after moments of searching for Eric with her eyes.

Sonia hissed inwardly, why does she have this kind of feeling that Evie is closer to Eric than her, especially after what happened recently.

She forced a smile on her face before replying to Evie's question.

"Eric is on a week off, you know he has a family to cater for, he needs time for them as well,"

Evie nodded her head in agreement. Though she was anticipating seeing Eric, she would not let that get to her.

The two women discussed and Evie narrated her whole predicament to her mother. Sonia was in disbelief after hearing all her daughter said.

The one that caught her off guard was when she said that they had separate rooms.

Sonia was silent for a few minutes, processing all that she heard, it was hard for her to believe all that Evie had narrated but she knew that Evie would not lie to her.

"All you need is to do your work as a wife," Sonia said.

"What do you mean?" Evie askedm

"You need to be submissive, trust me when I say that men love submissive women and all that you need is seduction to get what you want from a man," Sonia explained.

"What?!" Evie's eyes almost fell out of their socket, seduce who?! Ezekiel?!

"Why are you yelling?" Sonia reprimanded her.

"Because it is absurd!" Evie roared.

"It is not, trust me when I say to work on men, all you need is a little effort and that is all," Sonia added.

"It works on men and not Ezekiel!"

"Ezekiel is a man, listen, daughter, I know that you don't have this experience because I bet you did not have the time to date or improve on your love life but trust me when I say that seduction is one thing men can't resist," Sonia further explained.

"All you need to do is to get his interest and boom! Your marriage works out," Sonia added

Evie was quiet, she kind of had a feeling that this was a bad idea but something in her mind was telling her to try it out.

"What do I do mom?" Evie asked.

"That is the spirit girl! You need provocative clothes, clothes that would expose your body to Ezekiel," Sonia said cockily.

Evie sighed, would this ever work?
