Chapter 8: Secrets of the watch

Since everyone's clothes were a mess, they decided to first go to a shop and get some new ones. Ryan stayed at the hotel to take a look at the watch whilst the others were out. He looked at the watch and touched it.

A green light flashed from the watch before a fingerprint showed on the it. Captivated by the green light, Ryan placed his right index finger on the fingerprint. A slight pain shot through his finger and he quickly removed it.

There was a bit of red on the watch but it got sucked into the watch. A weird language appeared on the watch before it changed and Ryan could understand. It said 'translation complete'. The green light shined brighter and a small figure appeared.

Ryan recognized it as a cranonian and he was quite surprised that they have such good technology but they were quite savage. The small figure spoke and Ryan listened attentively. "If you are listening to this, it means I have failed to stop him."

"Our race is known as the Cranonians and we are masters of inventing. But although we were smart, we were not strong and an enemy was already on the horizon. And thus we decided to create a new species of Cranonians known as Cranon-warriors."

"They were our trump cards but when the enemy struck, we were powerless to stop them. Our elite warriors were mercilessly killed and the others surrendered. I hid underground with a few companions of mine and gathered information."

"All the information is on this gadget and I hope this will aid you in destroying the enemy." Ryan realized something as the cranonian was talking. What he heard and the way it's mouth moved were far from similar.

That wasn't the most pressing matter though.

The small figure disappeared and a bunch of files appeared which gave him a headache but on closer inspection, he noticed that everything was neatly sorted. He looked at the titles of most of the files and something flashed in his head too. A plan.

Ryan was completely lost in thought and did see Rebecca entering the room with some clothes in her arm. She came from behind him and placed her hand on his shoulder. She opened her mouth to speak but he grabbed her hand.

Ryan pulled her with all the strength he could muster onto the bed before grabbing his sword and aiming for her neck. As he swung the sword, he got look at her face and quickly stopped what he was doing.

Rebecca's face was going from pale to bright red which meant that she was really angry. Ryan grabbed the clothes that he noticed in her arms and rushed into the bathroom before quickly taking of his school shirt and unzipping his pants.

Rebecca smashed opened the door in rage but as soon as she saw what Ryan was doing, she immediately retreated and closed the door behind her. Ryan sighed as he heard her badmouthing him. It was a honest mistake.

He took a quick bath and thought about what he saw on the watch. He got a good look at the layout of the cranonian ship and he knew exactly how they needed to proceed. He wasn't too nervous but one wrong move could have terrible consequences.

Ryan went to the lounge of the hotel to see if anyone is done but the only person he saw was Cassidy. She was wearing those tights woman usually wear at the gym with some shorts. She wore a yellow jacket with a black New York cap.

Ryan took a seat and waited for everyone else to finish up. As he waited, he got lost in thought and his eyes subconsciously looked at Cassidy. Cassidy also looked at him and her gaze was as sharp as a knife. Ryan felt a chill when looking at her.

Unfortunately, his weird habit kicked in. He stared back without blinking an eye. They looked at each other, neither one blinking and no one saying a word. Ryan's eyes started to become watery but he kept it open. He refused to lose a staring contest.

He could feel his eyes slowly closing, he couldn't even make out Cassidy's face at this point but he still refused to give up. He strengthened his jaws, pushed up his cheeks like squirrel's and took a deep breath into his nose and kept it in.

Just as he got ready to put his life on the line, Cassidy burst out laughing and Ryan finally blinked. This kept on going for a while. Every time it looked like she was finished, one look at Ryan had her bursting out laughing even harder.

"Well you're having a good time," a voice that sent more chills down Ryan's back disturbed the atmosphere. "Yeah, Ryan's really funny," Cassidy said before looking at his face and laughing again.

The voice belonged to Rebecca and Caylin was right behind her. "Yeah, Ryan is quite funny. The joke he made in his room would make you laugh even harder." Rebecca looked like she would kill him in a second if they were alone.

Caylin walked forward and went to take a seat next to Ryan and Rebecca sat across. More voices appeared and the guys came in looking like they came out of a Fast and the Furious movie. They were all grey and black sweaters with jeans.

Ryan looked at them and Dawg spoke up. "We'll change when we get there." Everyone tried to look cool and Ryan couldn't help but sigh. Was it really a good idea to bring girls on this trip. He took out a pen and a big piece of paper before telling everyone to get closer.

A ship was already drawn on the paper with signs saying where everything is. From the entrance to the engine room and even the test lab where they held all the children captive. Everyone looked at Ryan with questions in their eyes.

"Everyone, I have a plan."
