Chapter 8

You watch in horror as the walls crumble, sending rocks and dirt flying towards the group. You try to reach out and hold on to the metal shelf but one of the missiles lands right next to you, almost knocking you off balance. You fall and roll away from the wall.

You land on top of your companions and try to protect them with your body.

The room erupts in smoke and fire. The smoke clears enough for you to see that everything has changed.

You look over at Laseen, but he isn't there. Instead you see the other guards holding shields over their heads.

A few of them are unconscious on the ground. They have been obliterated by the missiles. Alyssa runs towards them, screaming in fear. The sound of her screams sends chills through your bones.

The soldiers are slowly advancing towards your position while collecting and protecting unconsciousness guards.

You don't have much time.

You scan the room. There is too much debris to run through, and the walls don't look safe. "We have to move! The dust will cover us", you scream.

"Where are the weapons? They're not even here!" one of the guards says, holding his shield tightly above his head.

You look around, hoping to get to the missiles without being noticed.

You start crawling through the debris.

A hand grabs your shoulder. It is Zee. His eyes are cold.

"Move!" he barks.

You nod, and the two of you run for the remaining missiles. As you approach the crates of ammunition, one of the cyborgs shoots at you. You jump aside as the bullets fly close past your ears. Another cyborg comes from behind and hits you square in the chest. Your armour takes most of the impact. Your breathing gets ragged from the pain.

You get to the crates and tear off a chunk of metal. You throw it at the advancing cyborg.

It hits his chest and knocks him from his feets. You see Zee carying some weapons and follow him back to the guards.

When you reach the guards, he's standing there, looking out at the smoking, crater-filled room. He's carrying a laser gun and three clips of ammunition.

"I think its safe to say this wasn't our first encounter with the Seeker forces" he says. Suddenly Laseen appears, shouting something about an escape route. The whole group gets into motion, following him.

You follow him into a narrow hallway that's been carved in the side of the mountain. A few tunnels later you notice some daylight in the distance.

Laseen stops at the entrance to a field of grassy dunes and looks back. "It seems that weve made it"
