134 Power Difference

Sparks of Electro flew around all over the place as Minks clashed against each other in a fierce confrontation.

One moment it looked like one side was adjusting to their enemy as their innate animal instincts aided them in combat but then came a sudden turn of events.

It was an undeniable truth that each of those serving or a part of each family could not match up to others who trained diligently everyday.

They lived pampered lives protected within their walls and they mainly used politics or their families past achievements in order to help them navigate through the various challenges life threw at them.

Most of them were protected by their status or their guards so even if they possessed a lot of potential, it was likely that they would be unable to ever reach the same level of power of those that were constantly training and fighting under harsher conditions.

Those trained within the Musketeers or the Night Guardians were far above anything that the others could accomplish.

The numbers within both groups underneath the two Dukes had been something that was difficult to achieve even for families as powerful and influential as them.

Any forces they had built up in secret or had been using to protect their family interests had been lacking when it came to both numbers and overall experience.

Screams came from all over as each of their strongest warriors were beaten back one after another.

Just as someone held some form of hope towards getting by the encirclement, their opponent unleashed their true power almost like they were being toyed with.

The difference in power was much too great and the encirclement remained strong.

It was to the point that even Milo and Fraser could see no path to escape their dire situation.

The walls were closing in around them very quickly making the time they had left very small.

The atmosphere was heavy with many Minks laying down surrendering or being forced into submission.

Some Minks lay bleeding with deep wounds and some remained still as if knocked unconscious or that they had died.

The chaos that began started to calm down with each Mink that was taken down who had begun to resist.

Just as Milo was beginning to panic, he felt someone pull at the back of his clothes as he was pulled back into the arms of someone.

He felt real fear and confusion mixed with betrayal as he could feel sharp nailed pressing onto his throat.

Milo knew who was behind him and figured out what was happening. "Fraser.. stop.. do not do anything stupid.."

Milo may have betrayed his family and Zou but he still was not certain if he would be punished as severely as others since he did not actively take part in it.

He saw himself as just playing along since he had no real power to resist the events unfolding around him.

If he could not resist then he would try to make use of the situation to the best of his abilities and that was what he had been doing.

He was tied to the Glutt family for a long time and it was impossible for him to escape their grasp.

He wanted power and the position of the family head so he took their help despite the risks involved.

It could be blamed on the fact that he was young and naive back then or that he simply lacked the power as the youngest son among the main bloodline to be able to avoid getting caught up in such schemes beyond his control.

Everything had proceeded as planned and he was getting what he wished until everything began to fall apart.

Any hopes he had for the future where his goals were accomplished and there being a decent relationship with the Glutt family going forward was ruined.

Whatever cooperation he thought he had with the Glutt family was met with betrayal the moment that everything started to look hopeless for them.

Just as everything was closing in on the two of them, Fraser was the first to betray him which made him feel lost, confused and frustrated.

Fraser smiled from behind him while letting out a cackle. "Kekeke… you are all I have left. I must use what is available to me even if I must use you as a shield."

His grip tightened around the throat of Milo choking him a little while the nails dug into the skin a little drawing tiny droplets of blood. "Stand back or I will kill him! Clear a path now! All those who are down, get back up and take hostages! Hurry!"

If they could not win in battle then the only way to survive was the throw away any sense of shame and resort to despicable tactics.

Even if Milo was used as a shield or his life helped to control anyone from attacking while possibly allowing a way for him to escape then he was willing to do it.

Fraser's eyes showed a cruel and merciless look in them as he hid close behind Milo holding his throat threatening to kill him. "Come closer and I will kill him! You must want him alive right? Not another step forward!"
