43. Master Baozi

RuQian stood up suddenly, making the man stumble back in his seat, scared. RuQian smirked when she saw his reaction, this was what she wanted.

"Grandfather, I've been out the whole day, please let me freshen up and then I'll come back down. I can concentrate better that way." RuQian said this with a normal tone and a small smile not letting her grandfather know anything.

Her grandfather felt RuQian was right but he was worried the young man in front of them might feel offended so he turned towards him.

The man opposite them heard this and was overjoyed, he nodded his head wildly wanting RuQian out of the room.

"Okay Xiao Qian, don't take too long though."

"I'll be back as soon as possible. By the way, grandfather, why don't you invite your guest for dinner. I am sure he must be starving." When RuQian said this, she turned towards the man and gave him a sickly sweet smile. With this RuQian left.

The man's eyes widened in fear. If not for the malice clear in her eyes he would've thought of her as the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

But that wasn't the case. He sat in his spot, frozen in fear. This woman, no girl, was too scary. She looked like a woman though, not physically but the way she carried herself and by the way she spoke.

He was too scared of this girl, she resembled his master too much, maybe not as deadly as his master but they were similar in many ways. He was afraid that she was just a teenager now and he could not even imagine what else she would do when she grew up.

RuQian went to her room for a shower first. She had been outside from early morning, had attended a meeting, then met Bai Xing, went to his now old house, then to his new house. She was tired after all this.

But now she could not even rest. It wasn't that this was new to her, she used work way harder and she slept way lesser in her previous life.

But in this life, her body was not used to this routine and she had been resting as much as she could after her rebirth so this was getting a little difficult for her body.

RuQian knew though, that she had to get used to this, she would have to work and also manage a company in the coming future, so she could not slack off.

RuQian hopped in the shower, then her mind started to wander around to the man downstairs, his reputation and most importantly his employer.

Master Liu, was a martial arts trainer, known to have been the great Master Baozi's only known student.

Master Baozi was a terrifying person who had ruled the underworld for many years and then had suddenly disappeared. It was said that he died, but many believed these to be only rumors and that Master Baozi would be back one day.

The underworld gang which Master Baozi had ruled over was passed onto his successor whose face was always covered and who was said to have an ugly appearance.

No one other than, Master Liu and the ugly man who inherited the underworld gang had seen Master Baozi in his true form.

But unbeknownst to the entire underworld, that feared Master Baozi, who everyone was afraid of was someone RuQian loved wholeheartedly. She knew the identity of Master Baozi and wanted to meet that person again but she knew it was not possible.

RuQian had an inkling of a doubt as to who the new heir to the underworld gang was but she had never been able to verify it. Master Baozi had only taught Master Liu his techniques and his special moves, which were known to easily paralyze a person.

Master Liu had learnt a few moves but the only person who had learnt all the techniques and special moves passed on by Master Baozi was his current employer, also the top martial artist in the whole country. Nobody knew he was the best though. He kept his knowledge about martial arts a secret. She was pretty sure even his own family did not know about this fact.

The student had learned so well that he had become the master, learned much more than Master Liu. It was said that he was not as good as Master Baozi but he was not far behind.

If the person she was thinking of was really the successor of Master Baozi, then she would meet him soon as there was an agreement between them.

She missed Master Baozi a lot. Master Baozi had taught her many things. RuQian had forgotten or more accurately, locked these memories until her rebirth. She was young and at that age she experienced way too many deaths at the same time and these memories had been stuck in the depths of her brain.

Master Baozi had once even taken RuQian to his underworld lair without taking her family's permission. Of course her family trusted Master Baozi completely, as far as RuQian knew, her family had no idea of Master Baozi's true identity.

But when she was reborn, she understood each word she remembered and she also recollected seeing the teenage boy near Master Baozi. Of course he looked very different now but she recognized those distinctive grey eyes.

Those eyes had given him away or else she would've doubted her memories. So RuQian could only doubt him as being the successor but she had to find proof, not just her memories but solid proof. It might not be easy but she had to do that.

It had taken her a while to sort out her memories but after remembering everything and now seeing Master Liu, RuQian was wondering if she should reconsider her choice of career. Maybe it would be better for her to stay behind the scenes.

Master Baozi had always told her to be careful of the world and to never ever trust anyone other than the teenage boy. But RuQian did not trust that teenage boy either, or the man he had become.

She knew about his work, his businesses, but nothing about the man himself. So even if Master Baozi did trust him, she was not going to do the same.

RuQian thought about the man she had met in her previous life, the most handsome and cold person she had ever met. Her face chilled, not wanting to think about how handsome the man actually was.
