Claw Marks
It took David a little longer than he would have liked to realise he was moving faster than he normally did. Something in the way the trees zipped past him in no time at all, along with how much attention he had to pay to the uneven ground.
And yet, even then, he found no trouble with wind in his face or running out of breath. He didn't have to detonate his flame essence… and yet he'd achieved higher speeds than he'd ever thought possible… all with a brutally injured body.
'Impossible…' he thought to himself.
One glance at Arthur was enough to tell the phoenix that he wasn't even trying to run fast. He almost hit himself on the head when he remembered how defiant he was about keeping up with Arthur.
Arthur had slowed down for him.
David's mind, after a lot of contemplation, had reached a simple conclusion. The second prince knew far more than they thought he did.
