"YOU’VE REALLY NEVER BEEN to the Statue of Liberty, or are you trying to make me feel better?" I asked Jerome as he leaned up against the railing of the boat, looking out over the choppy water.
We hit a hard wave, and a gust of wind whipped across my face, causing me to hold on to the cold metal rail harder.
Jerome laughed. "No, I guess I always assumed I’d go later."
His answer made sense. It probably happened to many people when you lived in the city. I lived in Lansing since graduating college, but never attended a minor league baseball game. I wanted to, but never made time for it.
"Still," I said, shaking my head. "She’s iconic." People thought of a few places when they considered the city, and our destination had to be at least top five on the list. How did you grow up in New York and never visit?
