Entissa is a city-state built on trade and profit. It is relatively young, at least compared to the great old cities of the North. But in these few centuries, it has grown from a humble fishing village to dominate the most profitable shipping lanes of the Great Basin.

Giarre leads from her palace overlooking the city. She heads of one of the oldest mercantile families of Entissa, but as she has complained to you so many times, she feels hemmed in by outside forces. Cult activity undermines the populace. More and more of the city's mercantile activity falls under the purview of the Artisans Guild, beyond the Merchant-Queen's reach. There is regular feuding among the nobility, and rivalry and jockeying for position among the hodgepodge of forces that make up Entissa's military.

And then there is the problem of the East. The Diwanate of the Mervi is on the move. It seems every week brings new reports of cities razed and conquered. Those who do not capitulate or join into alliance with Diwan Karasi are set ablaze by his navy. And these conflicts are growing ever closer to Entissa, advancing along the shores of the Great Basin. Trade has been drying up, and with it, the lifeblood of the city.
