Chapter 49- Exalted Spirit Emperor?

Chapter 49

The black veins all over Li yu'er's body began to disappear slowly. Three hours later, the veins completely disappeared. Her face began to brighten again. Li yu'er opened her eyes. Without bothering to change her blood stained veil, she stood up.

"Thank you for your help" she thanked both Long feng and Yan Jian. She was aware of how they had both helped her. She wouldn't have suppressed the entity easily without their help.

"Miss Li, I am curious, what is within your dantian?" Long feng asked.

Li yu'er remained silent. Long feng tactfully didn't asked again. If she was unwilling to tell him, he wouldn't force her.  He turned his attention back to the door before them.

"Miss Li, does the entity awakens like this?" He asked.

Li yu'er shook her head.

"Then it was awakened by something. Something behind this door" Long Feng said.

"What entity?" Yan Jian asked, totally confused.

Long feng walked over to the door and touched the it. His fingers felt the rough surface of the door.

"These runes, they are a formation." Long feng spoke to himself. He unhurriedly poured his soul power into the door. One rune lit up, then another, and another, soon, all the runes on the door were lit up brightly.

Li yu'er's face began to pale again. A low creak spread through the tunnel as the door began to slide open. Long feng, Yan Jian and Li yu'er stood alert. The door completely swung open.

An old powerful aura burst out from behind the door. It was a slightly large room behind the door. Within the room was an old coffin covered with runes. Near the coffin on the wall was a hand written message. It was more appropriate to say hand scribbed, because the message was roughly written.

"Who's tomb is this?" Long feng asked.

"The message on the wall" Li yu'er muttered.

The message contained only a few sentences

'Exalted spirit Emperor!" The name, although rough, was filled with suppressive energy.

"'Exalted spirit Emperor!" Yan Jian spoke, stunned.

"He is dead?" Even Li yu'er was surprised. They both seemed to know who the exalted spirit emperor was.

"Who is he?" Long feng asked.

"The exalted Spirit emperor was the strongest cultivator below the imperial level. He was a peak spirit level cultivator who had high hopes of reaching the imperial level. But then, some years ago, he disappeared. Many people thought that he went into seclusion to attack the imperial level." Yan Jian explained

"Well, he's apparently dead" Long feng replied.

"How did he died? He was suppose to live for much longer. Cultivators of his level can live for almost five hundred years" Yan Jian explained.

"Oh!" Long feng was exasperated. Then how long could someone of Wu Kong's level live for? Thousands of years? Wu Kong was becoming to seem more and more mysterious to Long feng.

"What do we do? Yan Jian asked.

"You said he shouldn't have died now. That means he could have been murdered. If he was murdered, then he wouldn't have built this tomb for himself" Long feng spoke.

"He must have known that he was going to die." Yan  Jian added.

"Let's leave this place" Li yu'er said. Her aura was becoming unstable again.

They left the small room and headed back to the beginning of the passage way after scaling the soul formation traps again.

"I am still unable to believe that the exalted Spirit emperor is dead. Who then placed so many traps here?" Yan Jian asked.

"I also noticed that he didn't have a void ring on his finger. Either someone had stolen it, or he never had one" Long feng said.

"Where are we going to now?" Yan Jian asked

Long feng stopped.

"I want to return to my clan, for a visit." He said.

"Oh well! It wouldn't hurt to follow. I am coming along" Yan Jian said.

"I suppose miss Li is coming along?" Long feng asked. Li yu'er didn't reply. Long feng was already used to being ignored by her. Li yu'er was a very cold person. It was already miracle that she was speaking to them.

"Where is the clan located?" Yan Jian asked.

"Star Mountain City's Long clan." Long feng replied.

"Your birth clan?" Yan Jian asked.

"No. Adoptive clan. I was merely raised there. My origins are probably a mystery" Long feng replied slowly.

Yan Jian nodded.

This time, Long feng's trip back to the star Mountain City did not take them as long as before. They arrived at the star Mountain City within two days. Long feng wasn't really expecting a warm welcome, because the four clans alliance was still combing the city in search of him. Although he was strong enough to escape, he still wasn't ready to face the four clans directly.

The welcome he received was worse than cold. It was deserted. The whole city was silent. Most people were in their houses. Few people were out roaming the streets. They spoke in hushed tones and every household was filled with emaciated, pale people. The whole city seemed that be facing a famine. And no one seemed to recognize Long feng. If it was a few months ago, then every single person knew who Long feng was, but now, things had changed.

"What happened here?" Long feng asked a passer by.

The man barely payed attention to Long feng as he walked away, half conscious of his surroundings. The whole city seemed to be clouded in fear.

Long feng frowned, feeling unsure within his mind.

"Something happened" he muttered.

"Apparently" Yan Jian agreed.

Long feng was worried about the long clan, so he immediately headed north, towards the clan....
