Cecil hurriedly rubbed his already reddened wrist with his other hand, his eyes looking strangely at Robin.
Since Robin's face was covered in mud, Cecil couldn't quite guess what this person really looked like. But one thing he was certain of was that this person young girl couldn't be very old!
Ling Fan and Robin carefully separated the armor and the battle sword from the skeleton.
"These should fetch some money, right?" Ling Fan impatiently said to Robin, "Put them on the horses, let's head into the city and sell them now."
These were shiny coins waiving at them!
Robin took the armor and the sword as instructed. Leaving Cecil standing there in a daze, it was obvious he hadn't quite grasped what was happening.
When it finally dawned, only then Cecil finally reacted when Ling Fan and Robin were already marching towards the city, holding their horses.
That thing was definitely something valuable, oh my! I never thought I could see something this good. No, I absolutely can't miss this chance. Cecil thought to himself.
"Hey, wait up, both of you!" Cecil hurriedly caught up.
"Your purpose is you want to sell that thing, right? How much do you plan to sell it?" Cecil might not be an expert in appraising, but he knew for sure that what Ling Fan had found was definitely valuable.
"You want to buy it? Do you know how valuable this thing is? Can you afford it?" Ling Fan looked at Cecil skeptically. Honestly, with Cecil's current appearance, he really didn't seem like someone with a lot of money.
"Don't worry about that, money isn't a problem. I'm not short of money! How about this, let's go to my house first, and then let's..." Seeing the two were not budging at all, he continued, "We can discuss the price later, don't worry, it will be fair. My reputation is impeccable."
"Well, then tell us, how much can you pay?" Ling Fan directly asked. These days, you couldn't trust someone's reputation for fairness. It meant nothing!
"Well..." Cecil quickly thought about it and then carefully examined Ling Fan and Robin and tentatively said, "How about five hundred gold coins?"
Geez, you think I'm an ignorant kid and don't know its value? Ling Fan nearly burst out cursing.
When Ling Fan heard his offer, he almost lost his temper, feeling so frustrated! He put in so much effort to find this thing, and you call that easy? To think he offered a mere five hundred "gold coins." Maybe if he didn't understand market prices, he might let it slide, but he did know now. How could he go back to being that naive!
Thankfully, Ling Fan's strong composure was the result of his countless years of cultivation. He held back the urge to curse, just saying coldly, "Do you treat us as ignorant kids?"
Aren't you two kids? Although Cecil thought that, he didn't dare to say it, especially after experiencing Robin's intense grip. He was still traumatized by that.
Realizing that these two kids weren't that easy to fool, Cecil quickly tried to make amends, "Don't be angry, don't be angry. You haven't heard my whole offer yet. I mean, the five hundred gold coins would be just deposit. As for the final price, we can negotiate."
Cecil knew that the most important thing now was to keep these two youngsters interested.
"Very well then, bring us the five hundred gold coins first." Ling Fan actually held out his hand for the money.
Oops~
Cecil awkwardly stood there. Because he didn't actually have much money in his pocket. He had prepared a new outfit specifically for this hunting trip.
"Um... I forgot to bring the money today. How about we go to my house first, I'll definitely give it to you there," Cecil finally managed to convince Ling Fan.
Cecil's home was on Sixth Street, a prosperous estate that clearly showed his family's wealth through its decorations and scale.
"What were you up to, Cecil? Why do you look like this?" As Cecil entered the courtyard, a gentle lady's voice sounded.
And this lady was none other than Maxine, a magic teacher from the "Dove Magic and Sword Academy."
Maxine was currently suppressing a smile, thinking that her little brother could never stay out of trouble for a single day. Today, he managed to return all covered in mud.
"Sister, I'm going to tell you about this later, I'm a bit busy right now!" Cecil said while leading Ling Fan and Robin towards his room.
"What's so mysterious? You can't even tell your sister?" Maxine had barely finished speaking when she noticed the two mud-covered figures behind Cecil. "Huh, who are these two little kids covered in mud? Hehe, why do they look so funny?"
Oh no! You must not offend these two guys! I've put so much effort into inviting them over! Do you know how difficult that was? Cecil thought to himself, quickly chuckling and changing the subject, "Sis, I met Father when I came in. He said he needs to talk to you!"
"Talk to me? Talk about what?"
"Maybe he's introducing you to another potential partner?"
Cecil breathed a sigh of relief, seeing her attention diverted, not daring to linger anymore. He quickly led Ling Fan and Robin into his little room.
Cecil's room was quite exquisite, filled with various exercise equipment like stone benches and stone axes, making it seem like he was very diligent in exercising. But these were just decorations.
The interior of Cecil's house was even more elaborate, with all sorts of knick-knacks scattered around. Some of these he didn't even know the purpose of.
Ling Fan didn't was not polite either. Whether he was covered in mud or not, he simply took a seat on a chair.
Cecil was trying to figure out how to get the item over and set a reasonable price for it. But he wasn't sure what price to propose; after all, he wasn't an expert in appraising treasures. If he bid for it too much, he might end up losing instead of gaining money.
"Alright, tell us what price you plan to offer me?" Ling Fan asked.
"How about this? Let me hire someone to help us evaluate its value. In that way, I can give you a fair price," Cecil decided it was best to have Brandon, an estate manager, to appraise those things.
Brandon wasn't just an estate manager in Cecil's family. He was also an expert in appraising things, too.
Cecil's father, Donald, was an antique and ancient artifacts enthusiast, and he'd gone to great lengths to bring Brandon in. Over the years, Brandon proved himself and had found quite a few treasures for Donald.
With Brandon's help with identifying those things, the risk of losing money would be reduced. That's what Cecil believed. But one thing he was concerned about was making sure his dad should not find out; otherwise, he would never get his hands on these two items.
"I have limited time and patience, Don't make me wait too long," Ling Fan said flatly.
Given Ling Fan's agreement, Cecil didn't dare to waste any time. He knew that this kid wasn't easy to deal with. Delay could lead to changes, so he quickly went out to get things moving.
Not much time passed before Cecil returned with an old man.
"Uh, let me introduce you." Cecil gestured towards Brandon, "This is..."
"No need, I told you my time is limited. Let's just get to business," Ling Fan interrupted Cecil's efforts to be polite.
Oops~
Cecil was momentarily stunned, standing there awkwardly, not knowing how to smooth out the conversation.
Ling Fan didn't want to waste time and directly called Robin, "Robin, bring the items there."
As Robin approached with the items, Brandon's eyes visibly lit up, and he quickly stepped forward, muttering something incomprehensible:
"This... this... could this really be..."
