Strongest Student

Mason had just won against Brenna without using his element, this shocked not only his class. But also Remi.

Remi had heard just two weeks ago that Mason was only level 10. You wanted her to believe that he was already a level high enough to dodge spells?

The least surprised of the bunch was teacher John, he had already heard from the principal that Mason was a very high level. Seeing it himself was still quite a shock though.

Someone only 14 years of age shouldn't be that high level. Even teacher John himself, who was one of the most talented students in his time, couldn't compare to him.

'This years competition against our neighbouring country will be fun.' John thought as he smiled.

"Okay guys, that was the last fight for today. I'll be ending class early since I already finished talking about everything I wanted."

The whole class erupted in cheers, they enjoyed going to school and learning new stuff. But today's class was boring so they were happy it ended early.

"Want to go do anything?" Mason asked Remi

Remi thought for a moment, she didn't have anything she wanted to do but spending time with a friend was always good.

"No, I can't think of anything. I'll just do whatever you want." she answered.

Mason also didn't have anything he wanted to do, they were now forced to stay in the academy. So there were naturally less things to do.

The academy had plenty of shops, even restaurants in it. It even had a whole market and auction house, it was truly big.

"Let's check out the fighting arena, I heard our seniors take that place over and fight with each other for fun over there." Mason said.

"Alright." Remi nodded.

After walking for a few minutes, they arrived at the arena. It was big enough to have 3000 people at the same time.

When walking in, a guy asked them what kind of seats they wanted. Remi simply stepped forward and handed him 50 gold, she then walked towards the highest-class seats.

"You don't have to pay for me anymore, I have plenty of money after a couple of visits to the dungeon." Mason told Remi

"Oh sorry, it's a habit." She smiled at Mason.

"It's not my fault I'm broke! Blame my ancestors!"

After arriving in the arena, they started watching the match that was going on right now. It seemed a third year and a second year were duking it out.

"Who do you think will win it, George is a third year after all. He should be the strongest." A random guy in the audience said.

"No, you're too naïve. George might be older, but Liam is more talented. Right now, it's a match between experience and talent." some other guy said.

Mason just watched, he asked the System their levels and it seemed that they were both around level 45.

"I think I can get as strong as them before our mid-terms." Mason said to Remi.

"Keep dreaming boy, they have been here for way longer. Don't you know about the yearly expeditions?" Remi asked him.

"No? What's that supposed to be?"

"They're expeditions in dungeons, you go in a team of three and level up as much as possible. It's not the academy's fault if you die though."

"I've been to dungeons myself though. It's not that special." Mason said

"They're not your normal dungeons, it's a dungeon where your level goes up with twice the speed as usual." Remi added.

"That's sick. I'm looking forward to it already."

The fights they were watching started to get boring, Mason contemplated leaving. That all changed though when Jacob appeared.

Jacob Erhaier, the strongest student in the academy. It seemed he would be fighting a teacher today!

"You can duel teachers in here?" Mason asked

"I don't know, but it appears so." Remi said.

Jacob and the teacher went inside the ring. The ring was massive. It was round and had a diameter of about 200 meters, showing the destruction two Mages could create.

"It's finally time, teacher. After more than two years of your terrible classes I can now beat you up." Jacob said.

"Watch your words or they'll come back to bite you, Jacob." the teacher answered.

The referee was sweating buckets as he signalled the start. Jacob started as he used a powerful wave of water. Mason knew that it could crush him without trying. After sending his wave, Jacob summoned a tornado. The smile disappeared off the teacher's face.

'It seems he truly has surpassed me.' The teacher knew just how talented Jacob was.

Jacob had a dual awakening. This meant that he awakened with two elements instead of the usual one.

This occurrence only happened to one in a million people, so Mason was also quite surprised to see this.

'Even if I'm sure that I will have more elements than him in the future, it's still impressive. He doesn't have the same System as me after all.'

The teacher could defend the massive wave of water. But he didn't have any hands free to stop the tornado. In the end, the teacher lost as the referee announced Jacob the winner.

This fight had truly broadened Mason's horizons once again.

When he asked the System what level Jacob was, the System simply replied:

[You are not qualified to see targets information.]

'The same message I got from teacher John and the headmaster, huh.'

"Well who cares. I swear I'll be as strong as him at the end of the year!"

'He's back in his usual delusions, seriously how does he even think that's possible.' Remi thought.

After that match, they walked back towards their dorm. It was quite late already.

They didn't speak to each other on the way, and not in the dorm either.

Only after both getting into their beds did they speak.

"Goodnight, princess." Mason said.

"Goodnight, dumbass." Remi said, rolling her eyes.

Mason was looking forward to the rest of his time in the academy. He learned about an expedition today, and he learned that he was ultimately still weak.

'Ill change all of that though! The strongest human isn't enough, I'll ascend to God-status and break some Gods' egos!'

20 chapters already! It's been so fun for me writing for you all.
