I Hate Studying

Mason had just got back from the duelling grounds as he was probably more exhausted now than when the fight ended.

He had outrun everyone because of his superior level and thus higher stats, but he promised himself he would never recklessly do something like that again.

It was evening and so Mason went to the cafeteria to eat, there were new rules that if you attacked anyone within a building that you could get expelled so he didn't have too much trouble eating in peace.

His new friend, Hans, was also sitting in the cafeteria so the two of them did some catching up while eating.

When they were finished, both went back to their own dorm room as it was already late and they had class the next day.

When Mason entered the room, he saw Remi lying on bed.

"How you doing?" Mason asked her.

Remi looked up as she answered.

"I'm great, today was a lovely day without too much trouble, maybe I should stay away from you from now on."

Naturally, she didn't mean this.

Remi would often tease Mason but the two of them were still great friends, and Remi didn't mind if they were more than friends.

Mason replied to her statement.

"You know you actually like the trouble, it's more fun than having a boring school life with only studying."

Remi nodded reluctantly, she couldn't refute his words.

She and Mason kept talking for about 20 minutes when she decided to sleep.

Mason crawled in bed himself too, tomorrow was going to be another early day where he would go on a run in the morning.

Being in bed and being alone with his thoughts gave him some time to think about the future.

He had talked to Hans about trying to graduate early and the Duke's son had told him the requirements he would have to meet.

Mason was sure he could do the practical exam with ease, the theoretical exam however.

'Seems like I'm going to have to study really hard this next year.' He sighed as he closed his eyes.

-------------------------------------

It was the next day, and Mason had already done his run and was headed to class.

When he arrived, he sat down next to Hans as they waited for teacher John to arrive.

"It's quite rare for him to be later than the students, isn't it?" Mason asked his friend.

Hans thought for a second as he replied.

"I've heard that all teachers had a party yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't show up at all."

Mason thought this was weird, who would have a party when they had to work the day after but he decided not to pry and waited patiently.

After waiting for about five minutes the teacher showed up, but he didn't show any signs of being hungover at all.

When Mason asked Hans about it, he answered that anyone above level 50 could get rid of the alcohol inside of their bodies whenever they wanted.

Mason nodded in understanding as teacher John started his class.

Mason had decided he wouldn't sleep through the class for once as he had to study for his exams the following year.

There was one big problem however, it was just so boring!

'Can't we have some theoretical class about fighting instead of just Beasts?'

'The spellcasting theory is also useless for me, because I have a System that converts everything into skills anyways!'

Mason had a big advantage over everyone, it would always be easier for him to use spells than others.

Others had to carefully construct the spell from start to finish while Mason could just use his skill and it would appear almost instantly.

Spellcasting theory was however a big part of every theoretical exam so Mason would have to learn it anyways if he didn't want to expose his System to everyone.

It was now halfway through the class as Mason's eyelids started feeling heavy.

It was getting so bad he asked a favour to Hans.

"Every time you see me falling asleep, could you please hit me so I wake up?" Mason asked as Hans obliged happily.

Mason didn't know that his friend had no mercy whatsoever and when his eyes closed once again, a slap so loud was heard that the entire classroom fell into a silence.

"What was that? Who just hit someone?" The entire class was asking as teacher John looked directly at the duo of troublemakers.

"Mason, Hans, care to explain what you both were doing?" The teacher asked.

Mason was still confused as he didn't know what to say, he had indeed given Hans permission to hit him, but it still felt like he got done dirty and he waited for Hans to reply.

Hans' was dying inside but he knew he had to keep his composure as he tried to answer without laughing.

"T-There was a fly on his cheek, sir. It was a really big one, so big I almost thought a Beast had entered school campus."

The entire class looked at him with a blank look.

They all knew it was bullshit as Hans' grin was evident.

Teacher John didn't know what to say to the Duke's son, the principal had told the teachers to not offend any high-ranking Nobles as their academy was important, but they still didn't want any unnecessary trouble.

"S-Sure, make sure to handle it differently next time." He answered.

Mason had a look of betrayal on his face as he couldn't believe the little blond bastard had gotten away with a warning.

His cheek had turned into a bright red colour as a handprint could be seen.

Mason was looking at Hans for answers when he got the most shameless answer he'd ever heard.

"I know the class is boring but as a high ranking Noble, I felt the need the punish a bad student."

"..."

"..."

Mason stared Hans' down as the 'high ranking Noble' had used a voice that was totally different from his usual one.

It sounded like he was trying to imitate a king or something.

Mason vowed to himself that he would take revenge for this someday as he followed the class attentively until the end.

'I absolutely hate studying.' He thought.
