Chapter 50

We stuck to the alleys since the streetlamps couldn't reach us there. I couldn't help but grin as the cool wind whipped against my masked face. We had done it. We had broken into Pause and broken out again. I had seen Vivian. I hadn't rescued her, but at least I knew she was alive, and now she had a super phone to call us. Ryan let out a loud "whoo-hoo-hoo," like he'd been waiting for the all-clear signal, as he tore off his mask too. A grin spread over his mouth as he looked over at me. "We did, didn't we?"

"I don't ever want to do that again," Kendra said, and then burst into hysterical laughter.
