32. Just a small child as well

What they saw was a gate appearing and a hand with black end pointing at the noble and sound of thunder was heard.

The bullet hit the nobles arm and gate disapeared just as fast as it did. Anna Gale rubbed her arm as she held gun only in one hand and when she shot the whole arm almost broke.

At least so she felt.

A thunder in a clear sky, a deity that points dark finger at the one that do evil...

Even the noble was so frightened that he shook whole sitting on ground and holding his wounded arm.

The bullet just scrapped his arm and ended up in one nearby tree. By no one saw that as they were too scared.

Only one man was calm and came to bind his wound. "Count Belabor, shall we proceed?"

Anna Gale was rubbing her arm and was ready to hold the gun now with both hands if needed.

The noble shook his head. "No... no. Bring all villagers here and tell them to take their children back home. The tax will go down again and only duty they have is now to pave the streets as winter duty. Yes, pave the streets..."

When he stood up a wet stain was on his pants, but no one commented that as even few of Grom people were shaken.

The calm soldier made orders and helped noble back to the castle. Just before they entered the gate opened and the boy came out.

"You did evil things, that is certain. What kind of afterlife you will have is your own deal. But harming others for your pleasure is wrong. I might not watch over you every day so I might not know what is going on, but one thing is certain. If I find out you continued your doings, I will send you to world where people eat people. The pain of teeth stabbing into your flesh and tearing your bones into mush should be quite painful I heard."

With that she just made one step back and gate disapeared while she sat on ground in mid of police station and patted her beating heart.

"Those movies really have something good." She stood up and started gathering weapons into one plastic trash can. These will be good to exchange for other necessities.

She was thinking of moment when she shot at the man and patted happily her chest that the bullet didn't really kill him.

She was as well certain that if he do really do something bad, next time she really will shoot to kill. Her eyes became cold.

Even if their father was cold person, he never abused them directly. His idea was to make them stronger for outside world and finally she felt a bit thankful to him.

But just a bit.

He was still not a person she would go and help in case of need as he chose to drop them there even if there was no need for that.

He intentionally gave up on them and she won't forgive such a thing.

The worst grudge are the one that is in childs heart. Children were born with trust in their parents and that trust hangs on a thin line that can break trough impact of parents teaching or worse, wrong conduct.

She sighed as she opened the map and went to the house. "I think we should talk."

Anna Gale knew she had to explain to them or they will not understand and be to her like she is to her parents.

The two girls looked at her as she sat down with tiered expression.

"You two are so little I fear something might happen to you anytime I leave house. I'm smart, but I still don't know many things. I fear you will get hurt or like before get in danger. I know you two are at age to be playful, but times where children can run around beautiful flower fields without care are gone. I can't enjoy flowers so I wanted you two to do that. I know you two are little, but you are not stupid. Really not stupid. Michelle, instead to learn more about plants you love so much, you chose to put yourself in danger. Alice, you can learn more about cooking, but you as well..."

She started crying. "I'm just a child as well. I don't know how to stop you. I don't want to beat you up. I don't want to do any of this. I want to go to school and have friends. But I can't... The times of having normal life is long gone. If you want to live normal life, stay with mother. That shelter is safe and I can bring you food and sweets anytime you want. I just... I can't watch over you and do these tasks at the same time. Look, now I met a crazy person that abducts even small babies. What is next? Just thinking that two of you are taken away..."

The two girls started crying as well and hugged her as they wanted to calm her down.

But all the pressure on her, all the wrongful days started pouring out now.

The more she cried the more the two girls cried as well and finally all three were sitting there with puffed eyes.

"I love you two too much to be able to see you in danger. This house and garden are safest place in both worlds. It's far from crazy people and zombies. If you two feel bored here I can show my power in the shelter. You can visit mother from time to time and just play with other kids while I help them find good places to gather food. We don't know what will happen when I finish opening this world. We might stay here or go back. This or that way I must be sure that both of you have safe place to stay."

She already made a decision to do this anyway. As she was not certain what will happen in future, she wanted to help survivors while traveling. And she can ask soldiers about the map.

Maybe that can help her with the directions...
