.
Without a doubt, Jack Hanma was a true monster.
Not only was his stature abnormal, but his attributes were completely off the charts.
He was also one of the few people with such high potential, but that was expected, after all, he was the son of the strongest creature in the world.
Yuji had always liked Jack; he was someone he could relate to. Jack did everything to gain strength, seeking revenge against his father for abusing his mother, and that remained his goal even after his defeats.
He never gave up, he never yielded. Even when his body threatened to break, he kept training tirelessly.
His self-destructive way of training might seem terrifying to others, but to Yuji, it was truly admirable.
He remembered being furious when he read about Baki's battle with Yujiro. Baki forgiving Yujiro was something hard to swallow, but Yuji could understand his side after some time.
Baki's mother only started treating him well shortly before her death at Yujiro's hands. Baki could still have been enraged by her death, but it made sense for him to forgive his father after they reconciled, after all, Baki had always sought his father's love and respect.
But Yuji doubted that the same could be true for Jack.
Jack had always loved his mother and grew up wanting to surpass the man who raped her. Jack's mother, a victim of abuse and a forced pregnancy, never had to carry the pregnancy to term.
Still, she decided to have Jack as her son.
There was no need for further reasons for Jack to feel grateful—this alone was more than enough.
Diane might have been a cold and stern mother, but she always showed love for Jack regardless of the circumstances and supported him in his pursuit of strength.
It was because of all this that Yuji found it hard to believe that all that father-and-son nonsense could happen between Jack and Yujiro.
Jack had too many reasons to want the ogre dead.
And to be honest, Yuji wouldn't mind seeing it happen.
There were some truly horrible stories about the ogre—massacres and rapes. Men, women, Yujiro didn't care at all.
He killed for satisfaction, raped when he felt like it, destroyed when he was bored.
Yujiro might have had a "softer" side, but his grotesque acts overshadowed everything else.
To Yuji, the ogre wasn't much different from the trash he had exterminated in "The Inside."
He wouldn't mind seeing him dead, and he'd even do it himself when he reached a higher level… But that was a topic for later.
Because now, he was facing his next opponent.
"There's no need for ceremony, you already know why we're here."
In the middle of the gigantic stadium, Yuji spoke confidently as he began to take off his shirt, turning to see Jack staring at him seriously.
"You want to fight Pickle, but I'm sorry to say I can't let that happen." Tossing his shirt aside, Yuji stretched his arms in his usual manner. "Because I'm the one who will face that beast."
Jack frowned, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the man before him with a questioning gaze.
"Who are you, kid?" Jack asked genuinely.
This made Yuji blink in surprise, a funny smile spreading across his lips as a laugh escaped.
"Yuji Shinakawa, current king of the Kengan matches and undefeated WFCM champion." Cracking his knuckles, he kicked off his shoes as he began to bounce lightly on his feet.
But seeing Jack still staring at him in confusion, Yuji just shook his head in disappointment.
Jack might be a combat genius, but when it came to the outside world, he seemed completely clueless.
"Well, no matter."
!
With Yuji surging forward in a burst of speed, Jack was surprised when a fist appeared before his eyes, the attack connecting with his nose and pushing his head back.
'He's fast!' Jack thought, and stepping back, he held his nose as he noticed the bleeding. 'And that punch… It was a solid hit.'
"Jack…" Calling him in a serious tone, Yuji maintained his stance as his aura seeped from his body, his eyes glowing with a predatory light. "We fight to become the strongest, to surpass those at the top… You want that too, don't you?"
Jack's eyes widened at those words, his surprised expression replaced by a frown as his fists clenched.
"If your goal is to surpass those at the top, then take this seriously."
Jack stomped firmly on the ground. Yes, he had been confused at first, but now he could see.
The kid in front of him was like him, someone seeking strength to surpass those who were stronger.
He had been so fixated on Pickle that he forgot that others were also aiming to face him.
To be worthy of facing the prehistoric beast, he had to overcome the obstacles in his path.
That was his mistake, but he wouldn't make it again… He would fight with everything he had.
Boom!
Exploding towards Yuji, Jack growled as he threw his own punch at his target, the young fighter blocking the attack but being pushed back by the sheer power of the blow.
'What strength!' Yuji grinned as he dug his fingers into the ground to stop his momentum, his eyes locking on Jack as he charged towards him. 'This is what I needed…'
Ducking under the punch that seemed to push the wind above his head, Yuji countered with a powerful blow to the abdomen that made the Hanma double over, a vein popping on his forehead as his eyes dropped to see a fist flying towards him.
Boom!
Taking a solid punch to the jaw, Jack felt his vision flicker as his legs buckled, making him fall to his knees.
'A truly strong opponent!' Yuji grinned with excitement, and just as he was about to strike the kneeling Jack with another punch, he was surprised when the Hanma lunged at him and grabbed hold, his mouth opening to reveal his teeth. 'Damn!'
'You're strong, kid!' Jack thought as he moved his mouth toward Yuji's right trapezius. 'But I'm the one who's going to fight Pickle!'
Bite!
With Jack's hardened fingers digging into Yuji's flesh, Jack immediately prepared to rip a chunk out of the young fighter.
!
But as he tried to clamp down even harder and tear a piece away in one go, his eyes widened when Yuji's muscles refused to yield.
'What the hell?!' Shifting his gaze to the kid's face, Jack was shocked to see the king of the Kengan matches sporting a proud smile.
"This is called indestructible… It's pretty handy in situations like this."
Boom!
Jack growled in frustration at those words, and just as he was about to increase the force of his bite to overcome this so-called [indestructible], his eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets when an overwhelming force struck his abdomen, the air rushing out of his lungs as he was pushed back.
"You shouldn't get so close, after all…" With his fist emitting smoke, Yuji took a step forward as Jack retreated to catch his breath. "I am the king of the Kengan matches."
[Dragon Shot Lv. 340] >>> [Dragon Shot Lv. 342]
Jack smiled as he wiped the saliva from his lips.
That was a surprising attack, one of the most powerful Jack had ever received in his life.
Whoever Yuji Shinakawa was, he was far from an ordinary fighter…
He seemed to be on the same level as someone like Baki.
And that set Jack's body on fire.
Defeating the kid in front of him would bring him one step closer to defeating Baki, and defeating Pickle would crown him as the one to face Yujiro Hanma.
He couldn't lose this fight—he refused to leave without victory.
He would rise as many times as necessary… He would win at any cost!
