Path of The Unspecialized (TKA Fan-Fic)

Dorian is an ordinary teenager who loves to play Glory. He wants to become an Unspecialized character like his idol, Ye Xiu. But he didn’t expect that the journey would be harder than it seems. (This is a fan fiction of The King's Avatar. All credit goes to its author, Butterfly Blue. My thanks to him for making a wonderful story about video games. I’m still reading the novel and I will surely miss Ye Xiu and his adventures. This story is my entry in the TKA Fanfic Writing contest.)

Chapter 3: The Guild

'Your request to join the guild of Team Happy has been approved.'

A notification pops up on my screen. Officially, now a stranger in a new guild. I don't expect to meet Ye Xiu here. Though this is his guild, there are hundreds of members here and he rarely visits or joins quests.

This is my first time joining a guild. I am not sure if I would fit here.

I scroll down on the missions page. One way of getting to know the other players is through quests and parties. I chose the one called "Hey Newbie!", which only requires me to join a party and go to a mission with other members. It only needs us to hunt monsters and gather supplies for the guild.

Luckily, I am not the only newbie today. After seeing my quest, two other characters joined my party. A Launcher named BullsEye and a Ninja named Wind Dance.

"Hey you, Unspecialized?", the male voice of BullsEye rings in my headphones.

I don't know if he's gonna discriminate my choice just like the others. But Wind Dance butts in, "Nothing wrong with that. For this quest anyway."

I don't want to answer, so I just said, "Okay guys, we need 25 Goblin Coins, 25 HP Potions, and 25 MP Potion drops. Let's finish this quickly!"

"Lezzgo!", BullsEye said, as he dashes way ahead of us.

We run all the way to Fire Forest. And Wind Dance starts slashing down two to three Goblins in one go. His movements graceful, like a dance with his dagger.

If Wind Dance's movements are graceful, BullsEye, on the other hand, is pure brutality in action. He perches on a high rock and starts blasting bullets our way. He never misses his targets, and is accurate enough not to hurt both Wind Dance and me.

I hold my fully upgraded spear, the one that I have had since I started Glory, and run right through a field of Goblins. I aggro them with a slash from my weapon, and then combo it by conjuring fire magic on my left hand. Separately, they have low damage, but together, it makes me unstoppable!

"Not bad!", Wind Dance compliments as he skewers a monster at my side.

"You're pretty good, yourself.", I reply to him. Then, BullsEye's attacks send limbs of Goblins in the air. He's also skilled in his class.

Then a notification pops up on our screens, "Mission Complete".

"Yes!", we enthuse, and then together, we go back to the guild room.

There's some commotion inside as we head to the quest NPC to surrender our loot.

"Let's do this again some other time!", BullsEye said, disbanding from the party.

"See ya!" came Wind Dance's reply.

Both send me friend requests and I accept on the spot, happy that I made friends in this guild at last.

I then check out the commotion. A crowd gathers around something...

Or make that someone.

Lord Grim stands at the center. Looking at the faces of his guild. I follow his gaze. Launchers, Berserkers, Battle Mages, Ninjas, and every other class, clad in pristine armor and deadly weapons. I turn to look at him, and I find his eyes boring through mine.
