Path of Desire [Moved]

((REWRITING)) “Life is nothing without direction, if you don’t have that then you’re not living.” These were the words mark had often heard growing up, his father, a rather pitiful old shell of a man awaiting the inevitable death involving his kidneys failing, had often said to him back in his youth. As a boy he had never quite understood his words, always brushed them off as the mere ramblings of an ailing man, too ashamed at the prospect of dying without having had an impact on even his only kin. However it wasn’t until he found himself in an ironically similar situation that he truly began to understand. Broken and marooned, the dark and crippling truth of reality had beaten his young idealistic self into submission, having lost his job, reputation and self respect, now left to wander the empty streets scavenging for any glimmer of hope in his bleak isolation from his own mind. And in the end the only solace he found was one painted across the black concrete of the road, as his already withered spirits collided with a moving vehicle. And so, defying all odds and waking up in a new world with a different world view, he finds himself lacking the enthusiasm one who had just escaped certain death should have. With his spirits still abysmal and his mind plagued with regret and uncertainty, he finds himself navigating towards a new, more prosperous future.

Chapter 2: Delivery

In the meantime as mark seemed to slowly begin to adjust to the sudden outburst of light, the woman now having become his birth mother lay flat on the delivery bed as she gasped for air.

"Haaa..haa..he was..quite stubborn wasn't he doc.." The woman, despite having had given birth twice before felt as if this time was more exhausting than before.

"Well that's obvious, you might be a Seventh class warrior but you're still human, you're body isn't as strong as it was before.." The doctor who was responsible for the delivery held her breath, quickly switching her focus on the child held in her arms.

"Looks like he's okay, though the lack of response is rather concerning.." The doctor examined the baby boy with a gently grasp as she directed her finger towards his forehead, mumbling gently under her breathe.

"𝔊𝔞𝔷𝔢" In an instant a faint glimmer of light sprang from her fingertips as it slowly enveloped the boy, slowly wrapping him in a gentle green glow.

The Doctor closed her eyes as she put moved her hands slowly, placing her hands in various areas of his body before canceling the mysterious phenomenon.

"How..How is he doc..is he alright?." The woman, who by now had witnessed the whole event didn't seem the slightest bit disturbed at the supernatural nature of her examination, her eyes were simply filled with worry at the thought of her child ending up in any sort of danger.

"Hmm..no no he's fine, quite healthy even, it's just weird there's little to no reaction, almost as if he's a miniature porcelain doll.." The doc, still calmly examining the boy sudden raised her hand as she gently patted the boys rump, letting a small echo resound the room as her hands collided with the boy.

"Doc! The hell are you-" The woman, infuriated by this scene almost lunged at her.

"Shush! Listen.." The Doctor, unbothered held her ear close towards the boy, meanwhile signaling the woman to be quite.

"Why you-" While infuriated at her, she also trusted in the doctors analysis, so reluctantly she waited until she was finished out of concern for her son.

"Hmm..we'll there's good news and..some concerning news, which would you like to-"

"The concerning news doc! What's wrong with my boy!" The woman quickly shouted with visible anger swelling her eyes, her already tired body seemed to grow livelier every second with how much anger currently fueled her.

"Alright alright relax, geez…from what little I could gather it seemed to me that your son is showing mild signs of alexithymia." The doctor quickly gave her diagnosis, standing up as she handed the boy to his mother.

"What?" The woman, now slightly calmer with her boy resting in her arms looked at the doc with a war expression.

"That doesn't make any sense doc! He was just born for gods sake, how could he possibly show signs for that!" The woman seemed even more aggravated, her arms still wrapped gently around the boy as she looked to the doctor for answers.

"Honestly I'm not entirely sure, it could simply have something to do with 'him' being his father, this isn't my forte after-all, thankfully there doesn't seem to be any issues with his health, as soon as you recover you can get discharged along with your baby boy Cara."

The woman, now officially known as Cara, the mother of the boy remained quiet as she simply stilled her gaze upon her son, taking in each and every detail of his figure, his damp Snow White hair, captivatingly long eyelashes, and a cute complexion that would make any woman feel their motherly instincts awaken.

However that all seemed to become irrelevant when taking in his eerily calm expression, unfit for someone so young. Care simply felt a sense of unease after hearing her sons supposed condition.

"Don't worry too much, I simply said he showed signs of it, don't worry your head over something so trivial." As if responding to her worry's The doctor quickly chimed in, she looked at the mother and some pair with a small melancholic expression.

"He sure resembles 'him' though.."

Caras expression winced at the mention of 'him', painful memories of quickly flashed through her mind as she carefully caressed her sons face.

"He sure does.."

As mark attempted to listen in on their conversation he found it unsurprising he wasn't able to even understand them at all, his body still drained from all its energy felt sleepy as he struggled to keep his mind from drifting off into a deep slumber.

'Who the hell just smacks a baby to get a reaction out of them..' He was still annoyed by the doctors actions, though he didn't hold that much of a grudge seeing as she was simply trying to figure if what was wrong with him.

'It's not like they'd know I'm actually a grown adult in a baby's body..god that sounds so creepy.' Mark sat there lying in his new mother's embrace, examining the sensation of her arms as he found something peculiar.

'Oh wow, she's surprisingly toned for a woman..I feel surprisingly..comfortable..' As mark continued slowly drifting on into a deep slumber, he couldn't help but feel the sensation of someone gazing at him Intently.

'whatever..time to enjoy some well deserved rest..'

As mark drifted off into his own peaceful slumber, the two woman who were still discussing between one another noticed him visibly relaxing.

"Oh my, looks like we were worrying too much, look at him already comfortably napping in your arms." The doctor stated with a coy smile.

"Yeah.." Cara still felt conflicted, certain doubts plagued her mind as she began lying with her son in her embrace.

Noticing this the doctor stood up from her seat, handing Cara who still seemed drained a warm towel.

"Wipe yourself down when you have time and get discharged, considering your condition you should be find in a few hours give it take." She made her way out, leaving behind the pair alone.

Cara, now finally finding time to relax held her breathe before exhaling somberly.

"Phew..looks like it's just us now little buddy, I can't wait to introduce you to your sisters..they're gonna love you."

Exhausted from the varying whirlwind of emotions today, she as well began to slowly feel her eyelids grow heavier and heavier by the second, finally entering a deep and well deserved sleep along with her baby boy.

As the pair of mother and son slept peacefully, standing outside the door with an incredulous look on her face, the doctor couldn't help but think back to the boy.

In all her years of experience as a medical practitioner it was not common to come across such mild mannered children, i fact one could even make the argument that they were all too common.

'Usually for cases like this there would be some sort of deformity or condition, but he seems to completely normal..how strange indeed..'

The doctor continued on towards her next patient while left blissfully ignorant of the true abnormality forming within the boy.

It was a bit of a shorter chapter cause it wasn't really important. Let me know own what you think.
