PASSIVE: A Tale Of Outlaws

Why won't you just... ... kill me? Have I... not bled enough for you? You... In me, you have broken all that there is to be broken, blackened all that could be considered bright, tortured my entire being from inside out.. Time and time again, you kill me. Endlessly, I suffer. What more do you want from me?.. You won't let me live, you won't let me die. Do you enjoy it?.. Watching me suffer, does it fill you with some kind of satisfaction?.. You... With whatever remains I have left, I swear to you, I will become a curse, the very plague that brings about your ruin. May you face the same darkness you've wrought upon me, and may your conscience be as haunted as mine has been. Born into a world where humans thrive on an Earth that is still recovering from a past disaster that threatened humanity's existence, Vonn Black is a victim of immense pain, hardship, betrayal, and discrimination. He swears vengeance upon the world after he gains access to a mysterious power. Along with his newfound accomplices, Vonn becomes the most wanted man on Earth. With a power that is more of a curse than a blessing, Vonn is willing to wreak torture upon his enemies even if meant torture to himself, as well. In the end, the truth of justice is just a matter of one's personal truth. Even those who wield sufficient power to overcome all opposition towards their pettiest of convictions become incarnations of justice. NOTE: PATO contains extreme gore, mature/harsh languages, and sexual violence. Not for younger readers!! Author's note: "As a creative artist and novice author, I, Zikky, am excited to introduce my debut novel, PATO. I'm eager to share my work with you and embark on this literary journey together. As for PATO, don't be surprised if it turns out to be the best work of fiction you'll ever read. I'm not aiming to come across as arrogant, but I do want to warn you that PATO will draw you in and refuse to let go. But first, you have to be willing to take the leap and read it! If you pride yourself on being a reader, then I challenge you to dive into PATO's world and see where it takes you. (Be warned, though: once you start, it's hard to escape!) My inspirations for PATO are rooted in the incredible works of Hajime Isayama, specifically Attack on Titan, as well as the captivating world of Japanese manga and anime. I have immense respect for Isayama's masterful storytelling and complex character development. Additionally, I draw inspiration from the unpredictable and often twisted nature of Tatsuki Fujimoto's works. So, I ask you: Are you ready to embrace the PATO experience?"

The End.

"Urgh! My balls fucking hurt. Everywhere hurts. Fuck!" Vonn groaned in agony as he struggled to sit up, his body screaming in protest. His hands instinctively reached for his mangled shoulder. A lengthy, wide metal shaft was stuck in it, protruding from beneath his groin, making him hardly mobile.

In the foggy aftermath of an intense battle, Vonn surveyed the gruesome scene, the ground soaked in red, lifeless bodies forming grotesque landscapes.

His scattered black hair was soaked in his blood, and a part of his head sliced apart was barely hanging unto the rest, as he sat, unable to budge any further.

A feeling of despair gripped him as he grappled with his own injuries.

"It's really finished... Everything," Vonn uttered, his eyes scanning the unpleasant view.

The grounds were littered with over billions of lifeless bodies piled atop one another like a bloody thrash house, painting not just the planet but even floating throughout the vast expanse of space.

Even the landscape was left in shambles, shattered into parts with huge debris soaring all over space alongside dead people and various other things.

"That crazy alien really did it–blerghtt!" His attempt to speak was interrupted by a sudden surge of blood which he instantly tried to suppress.

"Urrghkk!... huff huff huff. Fuck! Do it! Just go ahead and kill me already if you're gonna be this painful! Dammit!" Groaning in pain, Vonn lay on the ruined body of a dead warrior, his own injuries severe.

"So lively even when he's about to die. Very interesting, this one. Hahaha.. blergh! Cough cough," Charon, a limbless, burnt man nearby remarked, before suddenly coughing up ashes.

Charon, at this point, had only a single intact eyeball. The rest of his limbless body was burnt pitch black.

He rested his back against another corpse, just a few steps away from where Vonn lies.

The charred remains of his body contrasted starkly with the lifeless form he leaned against, creating a macabre tableau in the ruins.

"Pfft. Bastard. Serves you right for acting up..." Vonn let out a mocking smirk. "But man, seriously, you're no different from a cockroach." He concluded.

"Well, it's called the survival of the fittest for a reason. Hahahaha... Urrgh," Charon's pained groans interrupted his laughter.

"Ha! Look at you. Saying something like that, looking like some overburnt fry. What a shameless dude."

"–urgh.. huff… Didn't think I'd get to experience the day this world would end like this. Honestly, shit still feels kind of unreal to me. Like I'm in some kind of nightmare or sumn." Charon said.

"That so?! So, according to what you just said, this hell– everything so far might have all just been some nightmare, right?"

"Yeah… Ha! Knew It. You felt it too right? Urrgh–shit felt seriously off–huff-right from the moment we learnt of the existence of such a vast amount of aliens, galaxies and shit. Imagine a human being as strong as you, came straight outta some anime, bro. No other way around that shit. No way all those were real. This is probably some kinda nightmare–"

"-Dumbass. Not like I don't understand how you feel though. But seriously, man, being this close to death made you delusional? This is the end. We're both going to die here today, just like every single life that ever existed somewhere. Except for that thing up there, everyone else dies. That's how it ends."

The atmosphere immediately soured up at Vonn's mention of that thing. The both of them suddenly glanced toward the same direction.

Atop a mountain of fallen warriors stood the architect of this devastation. Its silhouette, dark against the crimson horizon, seemed to relish the desolation around him.

But even it didn't escape ruin.

A great portion of its torso was... just not there. Its skull was shattered, revealing the raw and delicate tissues of its brain and other inner components, most of it disgustingly hanging out.

Its entire being was soaked in its own dark-red blood. But despite such mentally tormenting wounds, this creature with its human-like physique remained indifferent.

The nonchalant expression on its face as it scratched its butt underneath its pants...

As if nothing mattered..

As if it felt nothing..

No pain..

No exhaustion.

No feelings of elation or accomplishment, nothing at all.

Nothing, except the frustration of a butt itch.

Despite being the sole antagonist of this entire bloodbath that saw the annihilation of the entire universal population, witnessed the utter decimation of every single civilization to ever thrive in the world, how could it appear so unconcerned?

The creature's aura of indifference ignited deep discomfort within Vonn and Charon. Everything about the sight of it caused their stomachs to crawl.

"Yo, Vonn. You really dying for good this time around?"

"...." Vonn was silent, his expression visibly contorting.

At this, Charon continued, "Ah, forgive me. That was insensitive–"

"-No, it's fine. No longer matters now, anyway. We're probably the last living beings in the world right now. The fact I'm at the verge of death like this proves it. It just means thaa–aarrgghh fuck this shitt!!" Vonn bursted out in rage, overwhelmed by a sudden feeling of bitterness.

"Tch! What's fine?! No longer matters my ass! What bullshit was I going to spout just now?! Damn this shit! Was I really going to say something so lame? Haa, seems my brain also took some serious damage from all that beating. Tch, curse you, man! From the bottom of my heart. Curse you mannn!.."

Suddenly an image of his head being smashed by rocks flashed in Vonn's mind

–Curse you,

Another image of his skull sliced in cross-sections–Curse you,

Being burned to crisp

–Curse you,

Head squashed with rocks againn

–Curse you,

A spear piercing through his skull.– "Curse youu, mannnn!!…"

At each phrase, hundreds of images of his own deaths soared up in his mind.

Vonn suddenly noticed the lack of glimmer in Charon's eye.

Charon had been silent for a while so it was obvious he was gone anyway. His body was burnt to the extreme, probably why he didn't shut his eye, he couldn't. Being able to speak earlier was definitely the work of some miracle.

The man had died, leaving his eye and mouth wide open, his blackened tongue sticking out like that of a strangled animal.

"Heh.. What's the point now, eh? Charon? What did you die for?" Vonn uttered, looking down at the dead figure with a pale expression.

"What about Cid? Kiken? What about all those freedom and justice bullshit the old man spouted back then? There's the shit about salvation too. And all that sacrifice, went on about how it was all for your families and their futures, right? What's the point of it all, now?...eh?"

"You've all worked so hard, but now, you're telling me that not even a single soul is alive to answer my question? Is that it, eh? Is that what it is? Hell! Someone fucking answer mee!!! Aaarrrrrgh!!! I'm suddenly going insaneee!! But why am I so angry all of a sudden?!!"

"Why did that bastard have to do all that to mee!!!"

"Why meeee!!"

"And I had gotten pretty strong tooo!!"

"I was starting to have a little bit of fun even with all that suffering, y'know?!"

"I was starting to give those fuckers a taste of their own damn feces!!"

"Kuerrgh!" Blood suddenly surged out from his mouth, but Vonn continued, "Urghh. I-I'm.. so.. angry at you, man!"

"Why… why did you have to do all that–Hrgh! huff, huff."

"Why did you have to end it ALLLL?!!"

"Arrrghhh!!!–blerghtt! Hnff! Hnffh! I can never forgive you!" Vonn struggled to maintain his breath, blood pouring out with each word.

"I wish you the worst of fucking luck! The worst!! Gaarrghh!! Gaaarrghhh!!! Gaaaaaarrghhhh!!!!" Vonn's screams crescendoed into a heart-wrenching cry, echoing through the calm and ruined lands and skies of the battle aftermath.

The sound, a desperate plea for reprieve, reverberated with the weight of a soul at its breaking point.

"Argh! My ears hurt. Shush, you're too loud, damn roach. Why won't you just go ahead and die like the others?" Suddenly, a detached voice, slightly otherworldly, but similar to that of a human chimed in.

"Huh–"

In this universal mortuary, where Vonn's screams alone were the only form of sound waves to be heard, such a dispassionate flow of speech. No doubts about whose voice it was. After all, there is but a single existence in the universe capable of survival in such a bloody battle. Even Vonn was on his way to hell himself.

The thing, with hollow frown, raised its arm and pointed its finger towards Vonn, and,

SPLASHTT!

Vonn's head exploded instantly, its innards splattering all over the place.

"That one was a real pain." The creature said.

"urgh." It groaned, suddenly grabbing its pants. "I might just die from a rectum burst at this rate. Really gotta take a dump, fuck! Fuck toilets! I'll just do it anywhere. Ah, it's coming down!" It hurriedly walked down from the heap of bodies, squatting somewhere to take a shit.

This… (Vonn's fading consciousness)

This is the end….

The end, huh….

The beginning, I wondered if there ever was one…

…Guess my brain power really did go up in smoke with all the beatings. Wasn't being serious about it earlier. Maybe it's also another side effect from that.

… Beginning… Can't remember anything like a childhood or shit like that, though––Ah!

Found one!

Ah, yes. This one should be fun.

Well, it's still practically a mess, and also ends in ruin, but it's the only one that has her in it. Besides, It's not like it's totally hopeless, not when I have that. There's a chance, yes! With that things might end up differently.

This time was close, never got him this roughed up before. I might end up doing him in for real in the next try.

....

...I'm being delusional, aren't I?

But still, that'll be really nice, damn.a

Well, it is what it is. I'll count on that power to do what it should. While things might go much more easier with my knowledge in hand, the pain I've experienced would be too much for his mind to handle, so it's best this way.

Its useless, but I'll wish me goodluck. It'll be hell, alright? I just hope you don't go insane before it's time.

'Huh?... a dream?… Urgh. I can't remember…'

GBAAM!

"Ackk!"

It hurts, fuck!

Vonn screamed in pain as a wooden baton landed on his back.

"Shit, boy's up already. Now I won't get to have as much fun as you. Selfish bastard." A teenage redhead boy in black short-sleeved shirt and worn-out dark blue gym trousers and slippers uttered, his voice laced with a hint of dismay.

"Damn, Koruko. This stuff feels fucking good. Too bad he's up though." Another teenage boy, the one who hit Vonn earlier added with a rough wooden baton in hand.

"I swear, I could burn up all my savings just for this. Who needs food when you can beat another human up all day!?"

"You're way too excited, bro. Is it really that fun beating up someone that doesn't fight back? Although it ain't that bad, either."

GBOOOK!

"Kuarrkh!"

Vonn cried at another hit landing on his back.

The early morning sun cast a sickly glow across the roadside, but the atmosphere was anything but serene.

Alongside the rumble of passing cars and distant buzzing of cablecrafts, there was a darker undercurrent–the shouts and cheers from a gathering crowd.

The wide sidewalk was strewn with garbage and debris, and the air reeked of stale sweat and decay. People had formed a loose ring around a small group of teenagers, their eyes fixed on a young boy who lay on the ground.

The area was populated with onlookers of varying ages, dressed mostly in tattered clothes.

Some were bored high or middle-schoolers who stopped by to watch the 'show', while others were either Vonn's regular customers, jobless people or curious adults who peered over from nearby shops.

The noise grew louder from each impact, a mix of gasps, mocking laughter, and excited chatter.

Vonn Black, a ten-year-old, groaned as a wooden baton consistently slammed into his back.

The brutal sound echoed amongst the onlookers, eliciting a few audible winces.

A group of teenagers loomed over him taking turns to strike, as if it were a sick game.

Another brutal hit–Vonn cried out in pain.

The older teenagers mocked him, their voices mixing with the distant noises of traffic.
