Chapter 195: Slipping

Elize clutched the blanket tight around her body, staring at the fire. Alex had fussed way too much about her fall only a while back. With an excuse that she was feeling weak, she managed to stay away from the crowd that was now gathered at the dining table. There were too many familiar faces in their house that night. His scent was getting overpowering by the second, filling her body with a yearning that she was sure she had never felt before- at least not from when she remembered. 

She knew that she shouldn't wait it out too much. That was the mistake that she had done last time. With every second she was inside the illusion, her surroundings looked more like home and the people felt closer to the heart. She had refused to join the group precisely for this reason. Elize wanted to clear her mind of the haziness that was closing in on her rationality.
