Chapter 84 : Eve's Chamber
The bright light grew dimmer until it was safe for Emory and Carrie to drop their arms which they used to protect their eyes from the brilliant light, a strong smell of lavender wafted out of the room, so strong that it was almost unpleasant up to the point of being sickening.
They opened their eyes to see what was in front of them, and let me tell you, if you thought having a castle-like door was unusual, what they saw before them was even more out of place.
A majestic chandelier, dripping with crystal, hung from the ornately painted ceiling, casting a warm, golden glow across the room. The bed, a regal centerpiece with its lavish canopy of thick velvet drapes, beckoned invitingly, its plush pillows and rich linens promising the sweetest of slumbers.
