New Klada

(2 years after Klada Disaster)

[Kyrielle's POV]

The winter has finally ended, it was time for us to leave the city.

"Goodbye, granny! It was fun staying here for these 4 months."

A small smirk appeared on my grandmother's face. "Hmpt. Take care, Kyrielle."

"You too, grandma."

"Mom, it is time for me to go now. I have to bring Kyrielle back to Klada city, and after that I'll go and search the East of Centralia Continent for Marielle."

"I see.... Are you sure you will find her this way?"

".....Even if I'm not sure, I've still got to do it. It's my responsibility as a mother."

"Then I wish you luck in your journeys. It is a shame that you never got to meet your brother as he was out of the city, but you could always just visit us on another time."

"Haha, that is so. Well then, farewell mom."

"Mmm. Farewell, Katherine."

"Let us go, Kyrie. Our teammates are waiting for us."

"Mmm!"

After bidding farewell to my grandmother and regrouping with my party members, we continued on our way towards north towards Klada, my home state.

(1 month later....)

Fast forward a month, we finally arrived just at the border of Klada. As always, even though it is spring the climate around this area is quite chilly.

Klada is built on a mountain, and right down the mountain is a large plot of farm land all growing wheat and other kinds of vegetables, but there were also strawberries.

"Kyrie, you like strawberries right?"

"Mmm. Why?"

"Well, the strawberries here are very fresh and tastes quite sweet even though it's somewhat sour. Too bad we wouldn't get to try it fresh, since it's still spring and these fruits haven't been polinated yet."

"I see."

As we made our way on top of the hill, we soon reached our the hill to the outer border of the city. There are countless houses and towns outside of Klada's walls. Lynn used to live in one of these houses, I wonder if I can find it?

As we are standing on a higher elevation we could peek deeper into the city over the walls. I could see that the inside of the city was rebuilt almost entirely.

"So this is where you and your daughter lived huh? The city that was destroyed by an arch demon 2 years ago." Said Jenny to mom.

"Indeed. Our home."

"Wow.... The city looks almost entirely different." I said to mom, bewildered by the new state of Klada.

"Yep. After the Klada Disaster, the king himself issued countless resources over to help rebuild the city as a pseudo metropolis city of the Northern Ataraxia. It is impressive, the old and run down Klada is no more."

"Is that so? Then Klada will be an amazing city now!"

"Correct. Let us move, we are almost home!"

"Yes!"

We proceeded by foot over to the city's walls... After about another half an hour of walking we are right outside of the city walls, ready to do our usual check in at the front gate before we were allowed to enter the city.

After so long.... I've finally made it home. Just so you wait, Gerdur, Michael and Richard.... I'm back!

"Hah.... Hah.... Hah...."

However, all of a sudden without any warning whatsoever, I feel extremely tired.... Like I had just ran a marathon.... My vision started to spin, and I feel night headed... What is going on?

And then, a voice of a woman was heard. "....Let me out."

Huh?... Who said that?

"Mom... Jenny.... Did you say something?"

"Hmm? No one said anything though."

"Kyrie? What's wrong? Your face looks pale."

"Let.... Let me out!!!" The voice of the woman just now screamed out at me.

"Kyrie? What are you saying all of a sudden?"

"I.... I didn't say anything....?"

'Thud!' My leg loses control and I dropped to the ground face first....

"Kyrie!" (4x) The voices of my team mates could be heard besides me.

...

Darkness. I can't see a single thing, it feels like I'm floating in darkness.

"Let me out." The voice of that woman just now was heard again.

What?

"I'm sick of this... It's time for you to accept me."

You're.... Red?

When I came to again, my head is extremely dizzy and nauseous.

"....Hah! Cough cough!

"Kyrie! Thank god you are awake again!"

"Urgh...." I sat myself on the ground, and then....

"Uweh!..." I vomited out to the side of the road due to the dizziness....

Mom kneeled down besides me and then gently pats my back to help as I did my business. After that,

"Urgh.... I feel sick..."

"Did you eat something wrong? But we all are the same thing so it couldn't have been food poisoning...."

Gazeth said, trying to reassure me and mom. "Probably just lighted headed from the changing heights."

"I don't know.... Don't mind me, I just need to sit for a little while..."

"Take your time, we can rest for a bit."

"Kyrie..." Mom gently places her hand on my head.

"Oh graceful one, grant blessing upon those who have faith, Lesser Heal."

Golden aura came out of her hand, and covered my head. After the healing magic, my head feels less dizzy and painful.

"Thanks, mom."

"Mmm."

After I had rested on the side of the road for a little bit, I felt much better.

But... What the hell happened back there? Why did I suddenly hear Red talking to me? Did I fainted because of her? This has never happened before.

I only remember that she told me to let her out... But I'll never know how that works or how she's planning to 'get out'. Is she trying to take my body?...

Once I feel better from my nausea, we continued our way into the city.

"Are you sure you still want to walk?" Said Jenny with a concerned voice.

"Yes, I won't puke again."

"I'm not talking about that... If you are still sick, don't push yourself. We can always just find an inn here without entering the city."

"There is no need for that, I'm fine now. Probably."

"I see. If you insist, then I won't bother you."

We finally made our way to the gate of the city. After we put our horses in the stables, we e three the city and decided to split off from the party.

"But still, this is almost entirely different from our home...."

"That's right. After that incident, I lived here for a few months and watched the construction of the city happening. It's incredible how well made the new Klada is."

"Yeah...."

The only thing that remained were the city's massive brick wall, and four aqueducts made out of stone bricks that directs water into the reservoir of the city.... But those are literally the only things I recognized.

In the past, the houses and buildings were primarily made out of wood. Now, they are all made out of stone bricks and clay tiles, some are even made from concrete. A straight upgrade from the previous infrastructures.

Not just that, all the houses looks much more beautiful because they are painted to look colorful. Each buildings have diverse paintings that it looked really beautiful, but their colors are all wheat, red, blue and brown. The houses can look diverse in colors but their colors compliment the other houses as well.

Besides that, the street is much much more well made as well. Roads were made out of fine-cut stone bricks, no longer the cobblestone road that I used to walked on.

Street lamps were made out of wood in the past, but now they are made out of metal, with magic lamps on top that automatically lights up at night.

But the most different aspect of this city now is that people are bustling here... Klada never had so many people working and living in here because it's a remote city from a farm land. It's not a capital city.

But it seems that after Klada was rebuilt, countless people have decided to move into the city. As such, the population of the city actually skyrocketed even though Aamon attacked.

In the center lies a new cathedral, a much more grandiose place of worship compared to the past one.

And the most prominent feature of this new Klada is the still under construction buildings... Scaffolding and ladders could be seen everywhere, and there are still countless buildings that haven't been built yet. It shows that the city is still rebuilding itself from the damages done two years ago, and that it still has not fully moved on from the incident."

"Wow, this is just impressive to say the least. It's like the first time I visited Kyoto...."

As a Tokyo boy myself, I was completely bewildered by the historical buildings the first time I visited Kyoto back in Japan. Here, I felt the same thing.

"Kyoto? What's that place?"

"Eh! Uhh, it's just an impressive city in the Bostnia continent."

"I see.... Well, remember that this is your home. Since you'll be staying here anyway, you can have all the time you need to sightsee this city, so for now let us move on!"

"Move on to where?"

"Isn't it obvious? The cathedral! We need a new ID card for you, all this time you've been walking around as a fugitive without an identification card, it'd be troublesome if some guard were to pick on you."

"Hahaha, I had completely forgotten that thing has ever even existed!... I won't have to register my identity again like dad did with me last time right?"

"Nope. They have records of the previously registered people, we can just receive a new one after paying them."

"I see... That sounds fast, let's proceed."

"Mhm."

With mom walking besides me, we headed off towards the cathedral.

"By the way, what about our lodgings? Our house were destroyed during the attack right?"

"Yes, but the king himself has personally rebuilt new houses for people to live in and replace the destroyed homes. We don't have to pay nearly 30 gold just to buy anogher landed property."

"30 gold?! That's insane!"

(AN : 30 Gold = 300,000 USD)

"Obviously! Your father and I worked our backs off just to buy that shop you know? But... it's a shame that the house is destroyed. We shared so many memories there afterall, with you, Marie, and Thomas himself...."

"....Yeah...."

"Anyway, we have a new house that I was planning to visit. Last time I was here, it wasn't finished building yet so I don't really know how it looks, but regardless I know where it is and I have the paperwork confirming my ownership of that house so.... Yeah, we can just walk right into our new home."

"I see."

We didn't say anything for a little while as we continued walking.

"...How nostalgic. I remember that my first time visiting the Zoward's Academy, I was walking and following you like this!"

"Indeed." Mom placed her hand right besides her knee. "Back then, you were this small! Now look at you, a big girl. Well, you are still as tiny as ever but you've grown up."

"I'm not tiny!.... I hope...."

"Hahaha, I'm sure you'll grow taller in the future! Just drink more milk, maybe you'll get bigger milkers as well."

"M-mom!"

"What, you're at that age right? Y'know, with the bulging chest and feelings about the ahem..." She leaned her face into my ears.

"....Sex."

"Sex?! M-mom!"

"Come on, don't be so embarrassed! You'll have to learn about it sooner or later anyway."

"Now is just not the time okay?! Let's go already, I need to get that ID card!"

"Sure sure, little princess."

We continued on our way in silence again, just enjoying each other's presence without speaking.

It's been so long since I was separated from mom... When I arrived in Pretannia, I never would've thought that I would reunite with her there. And to be frank, I'm very grateful that we did.

During our travels, mom and I have been getting along more and more... We enjoy each other's company, and we can talk and joke about all sorts of things. As women and daughter-mother, we get along really well.

She cares for me a lot, whenever I got hurt a little she'd always cast healing magic on me even though I don't need it. She constantly talks to me, and she seems to enjoy doing so.

Our relationship has not been better in the past at all because she's constantly busy working with potions, but now that we are travelling together we got to spend a lot of quality time together and really get to knew each other again.

Mom is not flawless. She abandoned her own family, my grandmother, and she's also not the most emotionally strong person.... But she's cool, and kind. She's my one and only mom.

"...Hmpt." I smiled a little bit from the good vibes.

"...You seem happy for how embarrassed you were just now."

"Hehe, is that so?"

"What's making you so happy?"

"It's a secret."

"Hah?! A secret, from your mother? You need to learn to be honest with your parents!"

"Keeping secrets aren't lying, I am not telling you~"

"Alright then, keep your secrets little mage."

"Hehe, don't be angry at me! It's just how teenagers 'my age' acts right? You know, the rebellious phase."

"Haha, I wouldn't have imagined you of all people to to joke about that with me. We're here."

We finally arrived at the cathedral after walking and talking for so long. Paying 50 coppers, we got a new metal ID card made for me. After that, it was time to head out.

"Still, even though we have a home, it wasn't renovated at all right?"

"Sadly, no... We'll still have to stay in the inn with Gareth and the co until we made that home liveable."

"I see. Then for now let us head to the inn-"

From the sides, a very familiar voice was heard. "Madam!"

Mom stopped in her tracks and looked over to one of the stalls on the side of the road.

"...Ghyse?"

"Madam... It's really you, you are back! You stopped sending letters to me almost a year ago, so I was worried that something had happened to you but you are fine."

"Ghyse... I'm sorry but I had forgotten to do that because-"

"Ghyse! It's me!"

"Kyrielle?!"

"-of this girl.... Well, I found her as you can see."

"Kyrielle!... Come here, come closer to me."

"Huh?... Okay..."

I walked into the stall and immediately as I did so....

'Grab!'

"Kyrielle.... It's been such a long time. I missed you and your sister."

"Mmn... I'm back, Ghyse. I'm glad that you are safe as well."

"Haha, happy to hear that." She finally let's go of me after that.

But right as she did so, I saw a little boy from behind her walking out.

"Mama... Who?"

"Wait, Mama?!" (2x) Ghyse had a child?!

"Come here, that long haired lady there is your aunty and this big sister here is your cousin. Go ahead and say hello, Sean."

"Ello, aunty and... big sis?"

God he's so cute.... I want to pinch his face.

"Hello there Sean! Ghyse, you have a child?!" I guess mom is just as surprised as I am.

"Am I not allowed to?"

"No no, of course not! I was just surprised. Congratulations!"

"Congratulations, Ghyse. Your boy is adorable, he looks like you." I said as I kneeled down and patted the boy on his head.

"Hahaha, I see! Anyway, it's getting late now and I'm actually cleaning up my stall... Shall we catch up over at my house?"

Both mom and I looked at each other... Hehehe... It's free housing for the night if we crash at her house!

"Okay." (2x)

"....Why am I getting a bad feeling from you two? I've not met you two for a year and a half and now it seems like you two are damn near identical...."

"Haha, we aren't planning anything suspicious, you can rest assured!"

"Sure...." Ghyse said as she continues to pack the things on her stall into the stall's built in locker. She sells potions here, oddly enough.

"Hmm... Are you still working as an alchemist?" Asked mom curiously as she examined the stall.

"Sort of. After the destruction of the city, my shop is replaced by the government with a mansion which we paid a few extra gold for... Sure the mansion IS nice and huge, but it's off from the main road so it's not good to set up shop there."

"I see. And this boy here?"

"My husband have to work so I have no choice but to keep Sean with me. He's a good boy so I don't have much issues. That being said...."

"Oh I feel you... Working while taking care of a child... That's the most tiresome thing in my life. It took a lot to raise you Kyrie, same with Marielle."

"Hahaha...." Well, because of my magic antics and Marielle's lack of any self-control, us pair of siblings had caused quite a lot of trouble for mom in the past while she was still working.

Ghyse continued talking to us as she packs her things. "So... Where did you two reunite?"

"I found Kyrie in Pretannia. I'd have travelled to the demon continent just a few weeks longer!"

"Good thing you didn't."

"Wait Kyrie, you mean to tell me that a 12 year old girl like you sailed over the entire Atlantica Ocean?!"

"Yep, and that's not even the most treacherous journey I had. I had to travel across the entire god damned Bostnia Continent just to get to Creimland...."

"That's insane.... I don't think any human being could said they've travelled the entire demon continent. Not even the four Pioneers of the Stars did that."

"Well.... The Magic Pioneer did that. Lynn travelled with me as a duo, and we went through lots and lots of adventure together. It was fun."

"Huh, I guessed as much.... Of course it has to be the strongest human to do that. But still, I think you might have learned a thing or two from her during your travels with her."

"Well... I'm somewhat of a Saint ranked Fire Mage right now haha...."

"Saint ranked?!"

"That's right, Ghyse. This girl is insanely strong right now... She can even fly, if that make any sense."

"You can fly?!"

"I always go for a strafe once everyday, it's refreshing."

"Just what have you become?..."

We continued to talk as a trio for the entire night as we leech off of Ghyse for food and staying in her house for free.

After so long.... I had finally returned home. The home that now is completely different from the one that I'm used to, a New Klada.

I wonder.... Where and what is Gerdur, Michael and Richard doing now?... I'm really excited to meet them again, my childhood friends.

Also, I can't wait to get a master ranked magic certificate at the school using the new spells that I've developed.

And finally.... I want to reconcile with Richard again. I want to know if I still have feelings for him.... and him for me. I'm 14 now, just two more years and I'll become an adult.

If when I'm an adult I still feel the same about Richard.... I'll confess to him.

Urgh... There's so much things to do I'm having a headache just thinking about it! But I guess for now what I really need is a good fucking sleep in a good bed....

"Zzz...."

"Kyrie?"

"She fell asleep on the couch huh? Madam, you should wake her up and bring her to the bedroom."

"...Let her be. She's extremely tired already from so much travelling and such. She made it home after so long, she needs a bad sleep on the couch of someone she can trust."

"I see... Then shall we have a wine party in my room? It's the weekend tomorrow, we don't have to worry about hangovers!"

"....You know what, I haven't had a good drink in a while now. Let's go!"

"Mmm.... Richard.... Zzz...."

"Huh, I guess you'll be having grandkids soon."

"Shut it... I don't want my daughter to be a 16 year old mother."

"Ahaha, I was just joking!"

"Ghyse... You don't joke like this in the past at all, you changed completely after you got married."
