Chapter 02- New Life (Part 2)

Chapter 02- New Life (Part 2)

The two then walked through the city toward a small cafe on a calm street. Reo kept looking around him in amazement as if he was in a whole new world. It was way different than his hometown to the point where he could barely find anything that resembled what he could find back in the village.

Cars, extremely huge buildings, all kinds of stores and many other things could be seen everywhere. It was really a magical place.

Rena smiled slightly at his cute attitude. In her eyes, he looked like a curious kid exploring a new place with his eyes sparkling in excitement.

"You like it?" She suddenly asked.

Reo nodded his head honestly and replied.

"A lot. It has its own charms that are way different than my village. I am really excited for my new life here."

Rena smiled slightly and muttered under her breath in a voice only she could hear.

"Our life, you mean."

Reo looked at her confusedly.

"Did you say something?"

"Nope. Anyway, we are here. Let's go! There is something that I want you to try." She pulled his hand and dragged him inside the cafe.

The place was empty except for a few clients sitting here and there. This place was made for people who wanted some calmness to work or to read a book while sipping a coffee.

Obviously, the moment they entered the cafe they garnered the gaze of everyone there. Their looks were just way too eye-catching to be ignored. But, both of them ignored that and walked to a slightly secluded spot to talk calmly without getting interrupted.

"This place is quite comfy. Do you come here often?" He asked.

"Yes, this is my secret spot when I want some time alone. I also come here with my friends sometimes."

"Your friends? I see… Let me meet them." He said with a small smile. He was happy that Rena was able to make many friends after she left the village. She was always a shy girl even when she came to the village for the first time.

'It took her quite a while to open up to me. I'm really happy that she is doing well.' He thought as a warm feeling filled his heart.

However, Rena's reply made him really confused.

"Never! I will never do that!" She said with an extremely serious face and even a hint of coldness in her voice.

"What? Why?"

It seemed that his question made her wake up from her weird state and shook her head. Then, she giggled with an embarrassed look.

"I meant that you will see them when the new year starts next week. Heheheh."

As they talked, the waitress came closer to their table and asked.

"Do you want to order?" Her eyes kept moving around but obviously focused on Reo for the most part. Rena could see from one single glance that this woman wasn't there just to get their orders.

'This bitch.' She thought as she glared secretly at her. The waitress didn't sense that and merely kept asking Reo about his order.

"Mmm, I think my friend here will be the one to order for the two of us. I am new here after all."

The waitress smiled even more seductively.

"New? I see. Where did you come from."

"A village far away from here."

"A village?"

They kept going back and forth like that while Rena was watching from the side with her anger already reaching the boiling point. She was being left behind by this waitress and she hated that.

"Anyway, could you please take our orders? We're in a hurry. We will take two chocolate mochas." She interrupted them as swiftly as possible and put up a fake smile that had ulterior motives behind it.

"Oh my! How rude of me! I will be back in a moment."

The waitress nodded her head and then walked away with a bitter look. Rena sighed under her breath and then shifted her look to Reo with a pouting face.

"Why did you keep talking to that waitress while ignoring me? Even though we didn't meet in years. I am sad."

"What? She was the one asking me questions though."

"I don't care. You are still an idiot. Humph."

"Heeeh."

Reo could only shake his head at his childhood friend's attitude. She was always a very mature person and acted way older than her age, especially around strangers. But, whenever she's with Reo her character becomes more like a spoiled kid rather than her mature herself. He knew that that was her true personality that she show to those who she trusted.

'It seems that even 3 years didn't change her at all.' He thought as he looked at the window.

Coincidentally, his eyes fell on a big screen in the opposite building that had an advertisement on it. It was an ad for a new game.

Reo muttered the name of the game quietly.

"Paradise Online?"

Rena heard him and looked at the big screen too.

"Oh, you didn't hear about Paradise Online?" She asked.

"Nope. What's that?"

Rena smiled and answered excitedly.

"It's the newest full-dive virtual reality game. It's by far the biggest project ever made. A world where everyone could become whatever they wanted to be. Magic, swords, monsters, and everything that we could see in fiction. It's our new second world as many call it.

Reo nodded his head with an impressed look. He heard of full-dive games before but he never heard of a game this big. It seemed that it will change the whole world.

"Are you going to play it?"

"Of course! Billions of people are waiting eagerly for the game. I am one of them too."

Reo nodded his head as he felt himself getting more and more interested in the game.

"I want to try it too." He said.

"Really? The game is going to release next week so I can get you an Ogma device that will allow you to enter the game."

"Didn't you say that billions of people are waiting for the game? I assume that it will be hard to get a device like that."

Rena puffed her big chest proudly and said with a toothy grin.

"Hahaha! Don't underestimate my powers, young man."

Reo chuckled and followed along with her small act.

"My apologies, master. This young one shall never underestimate your greatness."

"Good, child. I shall forgive your mishap."

Then, they both laughed together. It had always been like that between them. These weird jokes that only they could understand were a common thing between them.

Then, the two chocolate mochas came. Reo looked at the drink and then sipped from it.

"Delicious! This stuff is amazing! It's even better than goat milk mixed with honey!" He said before gulping down the whole thing in one single moment.

"Hm?" At the bottom of the cup, he found something weird. There was a piece of paper hidden under the cup. It seemed to have been stuck to the bottom.

He picked up the piece of paper and opened it. The words written on it were 'Call me' along with a small heart and a number.

Rena saw that and immediately took the paper from Reo's hand. Then, her expression changed, and looked at the waitress who already walked away with a cheeky smile and a small wink.

'I will kill her.' She thought as she crushed the piece of paper in her fist.

Reo didn't feel like trying to ask why the waitress gave him her number in such a weird way. Then, the two left the cafe and walked straight to a residential area in the eastern part of the city.

"Your apartment is close to my house so I can come over whenever I want." She said.

"Will you do something pervert to me? I'm scared."

"Hehehe, I will eat you whole. Be ready!"

"Nooo! Help, a monster is about to eat me."

The two joked around until they reached the residential area. It was quite luxurious even for a big city like Luna which made Reo question himself.

"Rena." He called for her.

"What kind of apartment did you get me?" He asked with a complicated gaze.

Rena didn't think much and said happily.

"A very good one. It has 7 rooms, two bathrooms, 2 kitchens and even an outdoor pool!"

Reo felt himself pale considerably and his eyes widened in shock.

"R-Rena…How can I pay for something like that?" He asked hesitantly.

He had a fair amount of money on him and his gramps was also going to send him some allowance every month. But, such a stupidly luxurious house was never something he intended to get.

He thought that Rena was more knowledgeable and could choose a good place within his budget. But he seemed to have made a mistake… A grave mistake!!
