Murong Zhan's past (1)

Back then, Murong Zhan was just an unfavoured prince. His mother was just a simple maid who got lucky one night and slept with the drunk emperor. Coincidently, that one night was a boon as well as a curse to her. She got pregnant with that one night, and because she was so beautiful, the emperor took her in as his concubine. Because of her low status and her background, she was bullied a lot in the harem. As far as Murong Zhan could remember, though his mother was a servant, she was quite strong. She knew how to stay out of these harem battles as well as protect him from all the other tricks and treachery inside the harem.

Until the emperor favored her, their lives in the palace was quite peaceful. But these peaceful and good days didn't remain for long. As soon as new beauties began to fill the harem, the emperor forgot about his mother. Taking this as an opportunity, the concubines who were jealous of his mother, began to fiercely scheme against her. Finally, his mother was unrightfully framed, accused, and punished. Later on, she felt out of favor, slowly contracted an illness due to which soon she passed away, leaving him all alone in this big thorny palace.

Since his mother's death, Murong Zhan realized that if he needed to survive in this vicious palace, he needed to have power. Being all alone, with no one to rely on, Murong Zhan was quite depressed. At that time, he only had one guard to protect him and that person was none other than - Wei Zhong. Oftentimes, he was bullied by his brothers and sister. All of this, Murong Zhan kept in his heart. Until and unless, he grew in power and become the supreme leader on top, he would not retaliate. Murong Zhan fixed his eyes on the emperor's throne, knowing well that only that position would fulfill his desire to be on top and wouldn't let him be trampled under anyone's feet.

However, it was a long journey to achieve that power. One such day, he was calculated by one of his brothers and was pushed into a pond. At that time, he didn't know how to swim and while drowning in that pond, Murong Zhan thought that this was it. It was the end of his life and soon, he lost his consciousness. Later on, he didn't know what happened, but when he regained his consciousness, four days had passed. After asking Wei Zhong, he finally knew about the matter.

Thankfully, one of the palace maid was passing by the pond and heard his voice. She jumped in the water and saved his life. On seeing that he was the unfavoured prince, she quietly brought him back to the mansion, helped him up. But as she was looking after him, she realized that he was sick and had caught a fever. For four days, that maid took care of him, and only after seeing that he was regaining consciousness, she left.

Murong Zhan felt grateful to this unknown maid and decided to thank her. After knowing about her whereabouts, he went to look for her and was stunned to see a beautiful scenery ahead of him. Under a beautiful cherry blossom tree, there was a small girl humming a song and playing with the flowers. And, he was shocked to see that she was the one, he was looking for. This little girl, who was even smaller than him, saved his life. In this dark, selfish, vicious, and cunning, this was the only beautiful, pure scene that Murong Zhan could remember.

Since that day, Murong Zhan often came to visit her. Slowly and gradually, she become his maid and a beautiful friendship began to develop between them and he began to develop a soft corner for her. Unlike everyone who was disgusted with him, she wasn't. She was so simple, so beautiful and so pure that he had the desire to protect her. And, when this friendship turned into love, Murong Zhan didn't know. But one thing he was sure of, he loved her and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. For this, Murong Zhan knew that he needed to be strong and get favor from his father.

To achieve his goals and to protect her, Murong Zhan began to scheme and plan. Growing up, Murong Zhan continued to train, study and do all that was required for a prince to do. He began to achieve merits and finally, his father emperor was willing to look at him with different sight. After a long time and hard work, Murong Zhan was able to remove the tag of being an 'unfavoured prince' from himself and become one of the sought out and successful princes of the dynasty. Things began to change for him and soon, people began to like him and look up at him. Many young ladies began to pursue him but he remained unchanged. His heart already belong to somebody and that would never change.

The emperor also began to like him and would always ask for his suggestions and advice on many important matters. Murong Zhan was happy to see the situation turning in his favor. On the surface, he was an obedient and excellent son but deep down, in the secret, he was already successful in getting half of the ministers on his side. He was always aware of this one fact, that no matter how much his father liked him, he wouldn't pass on the throne to him.

To get the throne, there was only one option - to rebel and kill all those who opposed him. In his journey to becoming the emperor, she supported him a lot. Whenever, he was tired, or dull, or moody, she was always there with him, loving him endlessly regardless of his identity or status. And, that why, when he finally become the emperor, he married her and sealed her as his queen. Many ministers tried to rebel and question his decision, but he opposed all of them and made her his queen.
