Even though Chisom masquerades as the strongest person she knows with nothing being able to move her, deep down, her emotions are as fragile as an egg: easily shattered. Broken trust?
Bella had never looked at me with so much coldness, contempt, fury, and emptiness all mixed in a bitter brew.
Her eyes usually held an unending amount of warmth, hope, and light, despite her difficult past.
So, I wondered what I could have possibly done to her to erase that wholesome light from her eyes.
"Come on in," I ushered her in, stretching my lips into a smile, trying to conceal and possibly ignore the hammering of my heart in my chest.
Without a word, she stepped into my room and I shut the door.
With the smile still in place, I offered, "Do you want anything to eat or drink? I have cabin biscuits and there's Pepsi in my fridge."
"I don't want anything from you but thanks for offering," She said politely but the coldness still dripped off of her words.
"At least sit, make yourself at home," I pleaded, hating the tension palpable in the room.
