"What happens when a nerdy girl falls for a playboy?" "They say that pain is a sign of weakness leaving your body but in my case, it's a clamp that refuses to let go of my heart no matter how hard I try." Chisom has had a complicated life but when she meets him, the world seems brighter and everything feels a thousand times better. Even though Chisom masquerades as the strongest person she knows with nothing being able to move her, deep down, her emotions are as fragile as an egg: easily shattered. Meeting him was one of the best things to happen to her. He was her first love but would he be her last?
"But you promised! What's this now?" I complained.
"Please, do not be angry. I'm so sorry. I wanted to come. I did," Reuben begged.
It was a day before my birthday and I had been waiting patiently for Reuben to call and inform me of the time he would be coming so that I could prepare.
However, to my immense disappointment, he called to tell me that he wouldn't be visiting anymore.
"How long has it been since you knew you wouldn't be coming?" I asked, a deep frown creasing my face.
"That isn't important, Chi. Look, I'm very sorry. I didn't plan for this to happen, I swear," He tried changing the narrative but I was adamant with my question.
"How long has it been, Reuben?" I repeated my question, not caring for anything else he had to say.
He hesitated a while before answering.
"A week," He mumbled.
I shut my eyes tightly to rein in my emotions and stop my anger that was on a tight leash from escaping and wreaking havoc.
