The last few days had been pretty monotone for Vi, a pattern of fighting monsters on the first floor of the Dungeon, except for the Boss, of course. It was perfected by him. He has come to this level of familiarity with the placement, behavior of monsters, including the MiniBoss. That during the fight with the latter, he began to develop several other techniques, revolving around attacking using only a sword and shield, as well as using dodges and a pistol crossbow. This last method he used today, however, this method was the hardest of all and despite defeating the MiniBoss. He didn't come out of that fight uninjured.
A breastplate that Viego didn't fix due to his mastery of fighting Mobs and the fact that he didn't think to go to a leather merchant to buy some cloth at first. And laziness caused by fatigue because of intense long stay in the Dungeon. However, during the final battle with the Miniboss, he received a painful series of attacks on his already damaged breastplate. The miniboss attacked him with a wave of multiple quick attacks on the already destroyed breastplate. Which not only resulted in tearing off the fragment covering the chest and the white T-shirt under it. But also leaving many scars on his body after traces of cuts.
Due to the fact that Viego had no clothes other than armor and a T-shirt, he was forced to go topless to the Artedmid Family's leather and cloth shop near his tavern.
The weather, despite the approaching night, was characterized by an exceptionally cloudless sky and a really pleasant temperature. And it's not uncommon to see a man walking topless. Especially when there are many people in the city with the Barbarian class or a class similar to it.
Now, in front of VI, there is a wooden building that seems to be old. The front door is made of thick, dark oak, and its round handles are covered with copper ornaments in the shape of animal heads. On one of the walls, where in other shops there are displays hidden behind a glass wall, skins of various animals hang loosely in the wall, and next to them there is a sign that reads "Store of animal and monster skins Atemida Famila".
Walking inside, he noticed that the inside of the store was dark and mysterious. The floor is covered with sandstone and the walls are decorated with handmade carpets and tapestries. In one of the corners there is an elegant bookcase with various armors and helmets. However, only one shelf with equipment and this one seems really unusual. Not only because of the unique appearance, but when he looked at the card describing the product. He saw that the amount of magical refinement was truly impressive, and therefore valuable, to these exceptional goods. It exceeded Vie's expectations, reaching over a Million Valis. So without understanding the reason for such goods in this store, nor thinking about buying these goods. Viego went back to looking around the store.
Everything seems to be neatly arranged and the goods are divided into different categories.
On the first shelf on the right, there are skins of common animals, such as deer and bears. Then there are the skins of rarer creatures, such as gryffs and manticores. On the top shelf are monster skins, such as a giant armadillo or a dragon. All leathers are carefully prepared and appear to be of very high quality.
He also saw many leathers bound and ready to be used for making armor and the like. There was a really large selection in this shop, and thus a large amount of various valuable goods, which in some cases even exceeded the valuable set of armor from the Hephaestus Familia shops.
Behind the counter stands a red-haired woman wearing green elven armor. Her hair is braided and her face has a serious expression. The armor seems to be made of thin but very durable sheets, decorated with copper buckles and ornaments in the shape of leaves. The saleswoman seems to be very meticulous and thorough in her work, and at the same time somewhat unapproachable and mysterious.
The shop has a calm atmosphere, and most of the customers are dwarves who are interested in leather and armor. Among the customers you can also see a few humans and elves who are looking for rare skins for their own purposes. Visitors to this store may feel a mixture of excitement and anxiety caused by the mysterious and exotic goods it offers.
Wiego enjoyed the quaint vibe of the shop, currently looking at the leather ready to craft equipment. And as he well remembered, his armor was made of horsehide, not very durable by Orario standards. What do you expect from the cheapest set of armor he's ever seen while exploring the local shops. However, given the specific nature of his powers, he decided to look into materials that offer a bit more durability than horsehide.
The price of one square meter of horsehide goods is relatively cheap compared to the prices in this store. Only 50 to 100 Valis depending on skin color. Viego didn't know if the color changed anything other than an aesthetic element, but maybe other breeds of horses with white skin, for example, were rarer and therefore more valuable. However, Viego decided not to buy horse skins, but to browse the local hides from normal animals and get something more interesting.
He was quite tense while browsing through Vie's skins, because when he had previously browsed the displays, he had only been doing some research on prices and the layout of the store. Now Viego is looking for a suitable leather for his own use. However, during this process, he performs an activity that is considered illegal in such stores.
Specifically, Viego uses an artifact purchased a few days earlier, the Binocle. Which allows you to see not only the name of the product, but also the special effects and properties on it. Viego wasn't sure about the legal system and the consequences that could happen to him if the red-haired beauty noticed his imperfect behavior. He could have been kicked out of the store or given a ticket if there is such a thing in this world. Viego preferred not to convince himself of this. So he was very careful and used the Binocular when he was sure he was out of sight of the red-haired woman, and he silently prayed that there was no such thing as magical monitoring.
There were several animal skins with additional properties as well as some of the most expensive available. A heavy rhino pelt with "average protection against physical attacks." However, a much cheaper leather from a rack containing materials from Dungeon monsters caught Vi's attention. There were also pelts from non-Dungeon monsters, but they were much more expensive.
Viego decided to buy a skin from a Tartrarian Bull. The skin was a slightly darker color than his original armor. If Viego had to describe the color of the new material, it was like dark chocolate. The surface, although smooth, is similar to horse leather. The one from a monstrous bull had really rough little hairs, which made it not as pleasant to touch as horse skin.
However, the feature that decided to buy this particular material from all available ones were its two additional properties "Less protection against physical attacks" and "Less protection against fire magic". It was one of the few materials to have two effects, of course there could have been more. However, due to the increasingly focused gaze of the red-haired woman on his person. Viego did not look further, but he wowed the red-haired woman, having of course put the pince-nez back safely in his pocket.
(Viego)-Im'sorry!!
(Leyla)-Yes?!
(Viego)-Could you please help me, I have a little problem.
Viego saw the annoyed look on the woman's face as she resigned and looked exhausted at work. She walked over to Vi and stood in front of him.
(Leyla)-What can I help you with?
Viego, even before she approached him, he was thinking and working out a convenient lie. Because, as he noticed earlier, most customers chose the amount of material themselves and showed knowledge in this topic. But Viego didn't have it. So he had to take these unconfortable actions to gain and not make himself a laughing stock.
(Viego)-Well then. A craftsman friend offered to make a breastplate for me, but I have to buy the leather to make it myself. However, I don't know how much leather I need to make this breastplate. Do you know if you could suggest me something.
(Leyla)-Naturally. In that case I would suggest buying a bit more fabric as sometimes you need more leather to make a breastplate. But let's see.
Then the red-haired woman, looking at the symmetry and extension of Vi's body, measured with focused eyes and after a short while gave Vi the right amount of Vi's stuff. Which made Viego, seeing so much, almost regretted the decision to choose this skin. And he did it when after a while he had to give the woman as much as 2,500 Valis for the whole skin, leaving him only 853 Valis for the next expenses.
Viego had expected such a precious one, but it was a little too much for him. And he only wanted to patch the hole in the breastplate at first, and he ended up with the material to make the whole breastplate. And even though he was aware that he saved a lot of money. Than if he had to buy ready-made Tartarain Bull armor. The price of which not only includes valuable materials such as he has now paid, but also the labor of the craftsman, but also the allowance that the shop selling such armor could also earn.
Then Viego slightly tired from the day, but motivated to start experimenting with his special power. Rather in a better mood, despite a slight sadness at spending the money he had saved, he returned to his room in the tavern. He noticed that the people in the tavern gave him a strange look as he carried a large bundle of materials up the stairs. He didn't care, though, and after Viego's brief rest, he began preparing for the experiments.
Viego's first step was to lay the ruined breastplate on the bed, and beside it he unrolled the Tarterian Bull hide, which was longer than the shorter length of the bed, so he had to set the cloth on the floor and work on the armor there. Similarly, later he took the armor off the bed and placed it next to the Bull's skin.
(Viego)-So about twice the length, maybe more, is needed to turn the skin into a breastplate. Cool... I understand that. Too bad I don't have a tape measure or ruler to measure the length. It's hard. However, before I start, I have an idea... Hehe... The head is working.
Viego then took out all the rectangular bandages obtained from the dead mummies from the chest and began to arrange them next to the skin of the bull. And he arranged the strips side by side to create a giant rectangle of small bandages. About the size of the skin of a Tartarian Bull. However, the strips were not enough for the total length and there were about 10 centimeters left to the same length. That's about 3 rows of stripes.
(Viego)-Let's hope it's enough for a T Shirt in my size. Or wait...
Viego then pulled out his already tattered T-shirt, which, despite the tear in the material on the chest, still had an intact outline. So Viego had no problem applying the shirt to the pre-arranged form consisting of many small bandages. And after trying it on, he noticed that the material was enough, and there was even more than needed. To make a shirt from this material. So instead of using it all, considering his now much thinner wallet. He decided to count the number of rectangular bandages by applying bandages to the T-shirt and counting how many pieces were needed when he did this. He decided to start his experiment. He took in his left hand all the necessary prosokot bandages and in the other hand he took a worn-out T-shirt. And in his mind he imagined a White T-shirt with a slightly yellowish color, the same color as the bandages mentioned. And as an experiment, with a print made of a lighter shade of white fabric in the shape of a raven getting ready to land with its claws and wings in all its glory, this print made from the remnants of his old T-shirt. Then, focusing on that image in his head, he said.
(Viego)-Combine "XX Bandages" with "Ripped T-shirt".
Then Viego watched as the objects in his hands began to glow with a bright gray-white light, and after a while in the air right in front of his face a finished product appeared in the company of light.
(Viego)-Fuck Yes...It fucking works.
Viego unrolled the perfectly folded T-shirt, which fell to the ground as it appeared. And he didn't have time to catch her in the air because of the joy of a successful experiment and began to watch her.
Unfortunately, the design bore little resemblance to the T-shirt Viego had envisioned before the trial began. The T-shirt in Vi's head and the one he received had only the print on the front in common. Namely, the image of the raven was on the final effect. However, this one was captured with much more detail, like individual feathers and overall more detail. However, the position in which the Raven was captured is the same as Viego expected. However, that's where the similarities end. The T-shirt in Vi's mind was made of a simple material, only the color of bandages. However, the one he received consisted of many bandages sewn together. And although they have been combined perfectly, creating an interesting texture where the joints contain thinner material than the rest. Visually, it did not look very impressive, and only the Kruk print added any aesthetic advantage to the shirt.
(Viego)-It's not what I expected. But let's see the properties.
Viego then pulled a Binokle out of his pocket, and to his surprise, he saw more information than on the goods in the stores.
(Viego)-Name: Pharaonic T-shirt. Creator: Viego Firebones. Class: For everyone. Rank:E- , Rank: Unique-Common, Materials: Pharaoh's Bandages(x##), Lined Cloth. Properties: Less Protection against physical attacks (E-)...That's really more information. There is no description. But it's hard. My first...Artifact?...Awesome. Now let's fix these armors.
Then Viego, as with the Pharaonic T-shirt. He took the old armor in his left hand and the rolled skin of a Tartarian Bull in his right. Then, after saying the formula, as in the previous case, both objects began to glow with a light gray light. Then, after a while, a gray-brown breastplate appeared in front of Vi's eyes, but this time the finished goods fell to the floor as well. Gravity is still at work, and even though the newly created object is in a state of invulnerability for a while. Vie couldn't be caught. And again he had to bend down to pick up the finished product.
A leather breastplate made of dark brown Tartarian Bull hide and horsehide on the inside, which gives an interesting combination. The bullskin used for the breastplate is smooth and soft to the touch, which is interesting because before the fusion, the texture of the material was completely different. There is an embossed image of a landing raven on the chest of the breastplate.
This image was made with lighter brown threads that captured precise lines and details in the leather. The raven looks very realistic and the feathers on its wings and tail are detailed. The raven has its wings raised and looks straight ahead, and its posture seems very dignified and proud.
The breastplate looks very effective and impressive. The dark leather and light embellishments create an interesting contrast and add character to the breastplate. The image of a raven gives it even more charm and gives it a mystical look. The whole seems to be very carefully made and attention to detail is visible even on the smallest elements.
The inner layer of horsehide leather is hardly visible, only during manual examination of the inner side the second layer is felt.
This armor also changed its style after being put together. Her appearance changed dramatically. Now the armor gave a more Central European style from the Middle Ages. Although some elements resembled Roman infantry.
