Chapter 7 - Protocol

The man smiled from ear to ear. But even after two seconds, the fat boy did not even flinch at his statement.

"I'm impressed, but you're not the same 'person' anymore. Anyway just hear me out, I took the honor of looking at your profile."

Aaron started.

He crossed his legs, making himself comfortable. Then he opened his tablet and clicked to a tab, which presented the original Carl Craze's data at a holographic panel.

"Look. Is it just me or your profile don't do you justice? You appear more decent than what it suggests. You can believe this or not, but it says here."

He said in a doubtful tone while showing him his pimple-filled profile picture.

"Carl Craze was an orphan who had been tested to be gifted with the talent of magic at the Annual Magic Aptitude Examinations. His element has high potential to develop into a rare type. At 13 years old, he was admitted to River Mage Academy. On top of his magic talent, his admission was strongly influenced by his earth constitution, the third strongest physique a cultivator could have.

"Presently, he is still a prospect but he is starting to become a disappointment. He lacks the drive to strive better. , He barely passed the year."

Aaron continued talking as he read the next paragraph.

"Professors' general evaluations: the boy has the earth physique (2nd tier body), but he does not see its importance. His mana pool had barely developed so his magic element is yet to be tested. On class, his strengths and weaknesses are too little to specify anything. Hopefully, it will change once he get a cultivaton technique next year."

"…"

"Conclusion: Coming onto the second school year, the student is unfortunately one of the candidates for expulsion."

Carl's face turned grim and contorted weirdly.

'I feared this might be the case, and it turns out I'm right.'

In his head, Carl grimaced.

He was not a rich kid like Samuel. Nor did he have any connections to a particular big name. This is bad. He had to grow stronger as soon as possible and prove his worth to the academy.

Getting his thoughts back, Aaron turned off his tablet.

His eyes looked at Carl up and down, and he could not help but smile.

"Now, I suppose this is the start of a weak to strong story," he lightly chuckled and stared to narrate, "The fat boy slash loser turns to the hottest student in school and was actually a secret genius. We all know what's gonna happen a few months from now. I've seen it happen many times before."

Carl acted like he was not sure what the hell was Aaron talking about, and pretended to be confused.

"My memories are still a little hazy. Did the MA brought me to this hospital?"

Aaron decided to answer, as if Carl already claimed his allegations.

"We did. There is a protocol for otherwordlers like you. Once we sensed something that wasn't there before, we immediately checked it up. By the time I arrived at the scene, you had just woken up and struck by the Divine Punishment."

This does it for him.

Carl honestly wanted to keep his secret longer. It gives him the time to not only analyze the currents of this world, but also the freedom to prepare and train himself in his own way.

But, based on Aaron's actions, he should be one of those who were watching that time.

With the revelation that came out of nowhere, Carl's mind was a little chaotic. But he had also gained some understanding of Earth's real nature.

'It seems like otherworlders are more common in this world than I thought. So what kind of world is this? I am aware of this Mage Association and its supposed functions, but do they have something or someone that monitors the changes in this world?'

After accepting the truth in front of his eyes, Carl was able to calm down.

'Fuck this world! Fuck it! Now I have to negotiate with these guys, and I better not mess it up. But what if otherworlders here are prohibited and they should be killed or something?! Shit! Nevertheless, I could only move forward from this.'

Aaron opened his mouth once again.

"We are not going to hurt you, Mr. Craze. I am actually here to originally welcome you. I was just playing since you wanted to act yourself." Aaron said.

"…"

Even looking at his grey eyes, Carl honestly cannot discern if Aaron was speaking the truth or not. Aaron seemed to be that type of guy. If he spoke now, he had to consider all the possibilities now. If he had to run, he would jump out of the window immediately and hide somewhere safe.

It was not the ideal situation for him since Aaron was a mage, but it was the only way. Carl already made himself in position to run just in case Aaron started to be suspicious. One moment and he could run out into the window like a rabbit.

Aaron however knew what Carl was planning. His body had tilted a little, but he did not care. Speaking he carefully studied Carl's reactions and continued on. He asked his real intention of coming here.

"I am here for one reason only…are you going to be our enemy or our ally?"

Carl immediately stopped this time. No he had to stop, because Aaron's face suddenly turned very serious. His eyes gaze at him, and killing intent gradually emitted from his body.
