Chapter 42 – Glow-up!!!

Leaning against the wall, Carl was in deep thought, debating of what he should do with this new discovery. He was looking at his palms. Opening and closing it.

For now, it felt like there were no serious damages.

'I can feel some pain, but it's not bad. Physical injuries can heal. The bigger problem is that a mana absorption vein ended up getting damaged, which will take a while to heal.'

Honestly, Carl felt quite excited knowing he was capable of overcultivation, but only at first.

Overcultivation goes against the general rules of the cultivation world. From the human experimentations too, Gerard Luz discovered severe aftereffects. Gerard Luz also used cultivators as his test subjects and most of them died in the end.

Carl tried to remember more of the book, but honestly, it wasn't that interesting at the time, so he was not able to read it all up to the last page.

There were too many uncertainties.

The only good news was that Carl knew if overcultivation worked for the first time, the test subject would not experience any side effects and could just reap extreme benefits. For the meantime only though. Carl had no idea if that was for lifetime or anything.

It was quite hard to believe that there really was nothing else besides good news, right?

'I had to approach this with good caution.' Carl was serious. 'I could practice overcultivation for now, and just stop when something doesn't feel right.'

Carl nodded.

'All things aside, at least for now, I had advanced to level 2.' Carl smiled.

Meeting Cath Artist's requirement was one thing.

But the thing that was really worth celebrating here was that he had finally breakthrough to what he considered the real start of a mage's life.

In simple terms, a level 1 acolyte is a person that has slightly abnormal strength and regeneration.

From that, they can start to improve themselves by cultivating or absorbing world mana which will temper their Centers of powers, making them more formidable. They are also able to store the energy of the world inside their body, and make use of it in their daily lives or in fighting.

This was where most cultivators fall into.

Level 1 acolytes were newbie existences at conceptualizing the perception of mana.

Level Two was different.

Firstly, Level 2 acolytes can cultivate longer because their bodies were now capable of shielding one's internal organs from the pressure of mana and their minds from the mental stress of the state of cultivation. Their concentration also increases.

But the greatest thing about the level was the ability to finally use spells. For now, Carl can access a magic spell's formula and reproduce the spell in its complete form.

This was what he had been hoping for this entire time.

Carl already knew that he was blessed by the darkness element. Normally, one can only test and confirm their elemental affinity once they advanced to level 2 acolyte, but his situation was a rare case.

Although "this" body had not advanced to level 2 until today, the body had been able to feel and take—albeit forcibly—the perception of magic that was already at the higher realm when his soul occupied the body.

This had awakened the dormant element at the time, allowing Carl to see his elemental affinity even before this stage.

Carl had seen that the sun had already risen for a while. Regaining some of his strength, Carl got out of the cave and washed his body at the stream.

He hadn't really slept yet, so Carl felt more awake with the water meeting his skin. It was cold, but it was great to the touch.

Since his perception of mana had also improved, Carl was able to see and feel things clearer now. He could feel the cold water sinking and sliding to his skin, washing the dirt from his body. It did not take more than ten minutes for him to clean his body.

And soon, he wore his clothes, but for some reason, they suddenly got loose and slightly fell. At this time, however, Carl lost his attention somewhere. He found himself looking at the water, where he could see dark circles under his eyes. He really had to sleep, but that was not what he thought.

Rubbing his eyes, he thought he was imagining things.

"Huh? Why do I look like me…?"

He had been too preoccupied with what suddenly happened, and had been in deep thought coupled with the throbbing pain he was feeling from his head, he did not notice such a very obvious detail.

Looking from afar, his figure could be seen at the stream, but it was no longer the same figure that the boy used to have. His body had slightly changed.

The lumps of fat in his body were now quite hard to notice. Almost all of them had disappeared. He was still huge. But he looked healthier and muscular now.

He had a massive glow-up!

But the thing that Carl saw first was currently looking was that his face which had undergone a massive change. It was no longer the big chubby face filled with red pimples, dark and white heads. Nor was his neck that was as large as a sagging tree trunk.

Finally, he now resembled the face he had in his former world.

In disbelief, he ran his hands and fingers throughout his face and neck, and it looked like he wasn't just imagining things.

On top of having a normal neck back, he now had fare smooth skin, sharp jawline, prominent cheekbones, and a chiseled face. Over all, he was now very handsome. Just like he used to.

At the same time, Carl next noticed his body.

He was still huge since he was cultivating with a boar technique but he now had some nice strong muscles and they were visible.

"This…"

It's like he had become an entirely different person! But there was no doubt; he had finally regained his handsome face back!
