Dawn came.
Carl had already woken up. The circle house provided the essential things they needed so they did not need to get out and do their business.
Carl had already woken up this time. His back still felt uncomfortable from sleeping against the wall. There were some beds around, but Carl did not want to make himself vulnerable at night when monsters suddenly attacks them, so he just found a wall to lean on.
Most of the hunters had the same idea, so he did not feel wrong at all.
Seeing him actually do these things had made the hunters respect him a little bit more. Thinking he was not just a fat boy from the city who wanted to go on a picnic with them did the trick.
Carl looked at the window, and saw the corpses had been placed onto the balcony, properly covered in sheets. Soon the dark started to fade, and the environment turned dark blue, giving them a clearer sight of their surroundings.
It was the first time he saw the overall damage in the area. There were a hundred of wolf footsteps in the area. Judging by that, there were probably over a hundred of them that fled down the mountain!
Carl had also gone up to the second floor to see the damage. The windows in the area had been broken, and the roof of one room was shattered and ripped apart.
The others were also looking onto this, when they heard the loud roar from last night again!
_RAAUUGGHOOO_
"Whatever that is, I finally had to pay it back for roaring all the time last night." Someone said.
And indeed the loud roaring did not stop until dawn came. Probably it got tired and slept, but it definitely disturbed their sleep. The reason they were able to wake up very early was probably influenced by that too.
The hunters went out of the circle house' yard and advanced forward searching with their eyes for whatever the hell was that. Then they stopped just before the small cliff. To be more accurate, they had to stop, and run back because a 5 meter dark-brown bear with red eyes was charging towards them.
It opened its moment and the roar was heard again.
_Bam, Bam, Bam_
The 5 meter bear charged forth with earth deafening footsteps, destroying the trees on its way. Birds were fleeing from the scene.
"Hurry!"
"Hurry!"
"Run if you want to live!"
The hunters shouted running.
Some had even activated in their breathing technique. With the bear approaching, it's like the earth was growling. Carl ran along with the others, and they hid themselves inside the circle house.
Soon, the rumbling stopped.
But only in a few breaths of time, the bear's body was seen climbing the small cliff, and had revealed itself to their eyes.
The bear was indeed large and wide. Its eyes were red. Its hide seemed impenetrable. It has big claws and even fangs as large as a human being!
_ROAR_
The bear revealed its fangs, and walked forward, as if he was looking for the humans it spotted earlier.
Looking from inside the house, the hunters hid themselves carefully and watched in silence, communicating through gestures and eye contact. They were not panicking at all and watching the bear's movements. It was easy to see how experienced they were at these situations. Only those who had never met a monster this large were shaking.
It was why the hunters were surprised at Carl again.
The fat boy was not only sharp at times he seemed so calm and collected for a newbie.
Carl was watching the group, especially the captain and the veterans in the group, and it looked like they had already gauged up the bear's strength and abilities.
According to them, the monster was a rank above advanced monsters, which were supposed to be the peak rank of the monsters in the entirety of the seventh mountains. This mean the giant bear was a leader-class monster. As leader class, it possessed enough intelligence to command lower-ranked monsters.
However, the giant bear does not seem to have any followers. This made him only slightly stronger than the strongest advanced monsters.
"We're going to attack," the hunters whispered, sending the message to one another.
Carl looked at the gap in the wall.
The bear was even more massive up close. Its body was huge, its footsteps loud, almost causing the walls to vibrate. It was almost as huge as the house! But he noticed one strange thing, and he was not alone in this.
'Is it injured?' Thought Carl.
It was fast and powerful, so it's hard to see, but it seemed to be limping, and its eyes were abnormally redder than it's meant to be.
If it was in pain, Carl thought that would explain the roaring. It was actually in pain.
Carl however did not feel any mercy. This meant the decision to attack was only right.
'If it's injured, then it should be easier to take care of.'
Carl looked at the hunters, and they seemed quite pleased, thinking the same.
In the end, hunters were greedy and merciless people. Spotting an injured leader-class monster was like spotting gold on a mine.
"Are you guys worried?" the guide, who happened to have evacuated just beside him, asked. He looked at Alex and Carl.
In his eyes, the two boys were still very young, and although they don't seem to be your ordinary teenagers. They were still considerably young for the hunting world.
Alex didn't reply.
After having that talk about hunters with Carl yesterday, he decided to stay quieter.
He was still pissed especially at the Captain and his friend, Mason, so looking at the guide and the other veteran hunters was not putting him in a good mood.
"We are okay, but what's the plan? That thing out there is not going to leave anytime soon," Carl said.
"Knowing Marshalls, that thing ain't going to be standing there anytime soon." The guide replied.
