Chapter 2 - Arrival

_step, step, step _

"Lady Corelia, the monitoring department has detected an otherworlder's presence in the Underground city. They'll be reappearing soon!" an alarmed girl's voice said after rushing to her boss office.

She had short blonde hair, blue eyes, and a fair skin complexion. She was an assistant manager of the GKS, a famous mage club that had over a hundred mages signed in their ranks.

"Please calm down, Cath. I already got the hold of the situation. If it comes to my mother, I would never miss a thing~" the lady on the office then answered.

She had green hair, emerald-eyes, and a flawless figure that can woo any man in the world. She was currently standing before the glass window and was looking at the scene of the city with an excited smile on her face.

...

On another office, a crowd of government agents in black suits had also just detected the sudden appearance of an otherworlder's presence and started to take action ASAP.

"Find me where that signal is coming from and get there immediately before the mage clubs take NOTICE!!" the head chief of the Mage Association's Monitoring Division shouted and upon the rise of his voice, every agent immediately increased their pace.

It was at this moment of ruckus, when a man with long hair and unkept beard casually came out of his seat, with a seemingly tired and disappointed expression. The moment he came out, his lips smiled widely, and his eyes turned to the Head Chief, with a face completely interested on the sudden situation.

Aaron Deer, this man was one of the Six Captains of the Mage Association's Monitoring Division, and for unknown reasons, he was waiting for the Head Chief to finish his business when the division has detected a new otherworlder.

The way Aaron was looking; it looked like he was already steps behind everyone, and was mocking everyone for their inferior abilities.

"Head Chief, after I meet this boy, would I be able to have a serious talk about with that matter?" Aaron said confidently.

"A boy?" the Head Chief grunted and snorted inwardly, "As fast as always I see," he then said, taking onto notice that Aaron was able to discern the age and gender of the otherworlder, when usually one could never be so sure of otherworlder's until they saw one face to face.

"Do we have a deal?" Aaron smiled, as if he already had the nod, and he knew the Head Chief won't say no. Without instructions, he stole one of the tablets from the agents and started walking to the door.

"Don't expose your real identity. If they are a threat, I am giving you permission to end them immediately." The Head Chief warned.

Aaron smiled and just waved his hand while waking, and then left out of the room calmly, making everyone calm down and cease their search.

"Are you sure we could trust that man?"

Watching the office calm down, the Head Chief's secretary couldn't help but asked as he and the Head Chief went back to their office.

The Head Chief shook his head indiscernibly as he sighed inwardly.

Aaron Deer, the man was probably one of the most lethal forces of the Mage Association, but the rumors and suspicions around his behavior had been alarming recently. However, when it comes to skill-wise solely, they really could not send a much better agent for now.

"This is not the time to be talking about Aaron, Tristan," the Head Chief then said, "an otherworlder. It has been two years since one had appeared. Prepare the comms, I need to talk to the higher-ups immediately."

...

Meanwhile, Carl was in drowsy and gaudy dream-world of darkness but he was beginning to sense changes. He started hearing sounds and scents he had not heard for a while. Noises, murmurs, and voices.

Shortly, the darkness he was seeing started to fade and at a sudden snap, everything began to get clearer!

He felt his frozen senses shake. His blood and muscles vibrated throughout his body as if he was a chick starting to break out of an eggshell.

Feeling he was about to awaken, he attempted to turn around, open his eyes, and shout, and im the next moment, he was finally able to hold grasp and summon the strength to open his eyes.

'Huh?'

His vision first blurred then he saw it was covered by a faint red screen.

'What is this?'

He felt something sticky in his head as he blinked his eyelids. Doing so made his sight get clearer.

Carl was relieved, but it was short-lived.

'Fuck!!!'

All of a sudden, he felt terror erupt within his core, and he saw in his eyes the approaching mouth of an overgrown rat.

Based on the angle, Carl instantly realized that he was lying on the ground and was about to get bitten in the head, so he acted immediately.

A bleak black aura emanated around him and his eyes glared with killing intent, which stunned the rat on its feet.

But it only lasted an instant.

Carl was surprised on how little the effect was but he was already in the air, as he managed to flip his entire body to over the rat's behind.

'Huh?' As he landed, he was dazed, as a question popped onto his mind, 'Why am I so heavy?'

Carl abandoned his sudden thoughts, and immediately smashed the rat's neck with his hand.

The action was fast, and did not even allow the creature to figure out anything, but Carl definitely felt odd and he showed confusion on his face.

'Huh? What is this?'

His arms were unusually round and fat. Feeling a hunch, he turned towards other areas of his body to check if he was only seeing things.

The moment he did; he realized that he had turned almost unrecognizable! He touched his face and felt the squishy skin.

'Fuck...' he thought, but before he could think next, he heard something from above.

It was at this moment.

A belt of lightning suddenly struck down from the skies, instantly hitting him.

Carl heard a tug in his mind at this time and his sight actually turned white for a moment.

He was still standing, but he was losing balance. His consciousness was slipping.

Before his mind could process anything, he then figured out that he was about to pass out. And he did.

His body was back onto the ground. He wanted to stand back but no matter what he tried to do, he could not increase his grip over his bodily functions.

With half opened eyes, he had also seen that the ground had turned burnt black. Smoke started to rise up. All of the furry rats close to him were dead. And it didn't take a while for their stench to waft into the air.

Carl finally introspected what happened.

'So the theory is right. The world indeed doesn't take kindly of transmigrations….'

Suddenly, Carl's face slowly transformed into terror. It turned out this wasn't all the punishment!

He felt the energy in his body slowly leaving out of his system. His mana was getting drained as they constantly left out in the form of white specks of light.

Carl could only watch his mana ascend onto the air, vanishing as they slowly left his sight, merging with the world mana…

At this time, Carl slowly felt something.

He increasingly felt tremendous pressure on his body as if a dam that could no longer support the water inside.

'This is bad.' Carl can't handle it anymore.

In the next moment, he inevitably shut down.

Before he duly passed out however, he was able to realize that he indeed was no longer the same person. He had the same name and looks, but he was totally different. Approaching him, he also started to sense several superior mana fluctuations in the area. Some people were watching him all this time.
