Carl was a little surprised.
This person hadn't talked about anything outside her job during the times she visited him, and even then it was just phrases and cold answers from such a cute yet cold girl so this kind of caught him off guard.
Yuna was not a bad person, she was just curious.
She was also very young, so she couldn't help but asked. She had attended to a couple of patients who were mages and acolytes before, but she belatedly recalled that none of them trained and meditated as much as the fat boy.
"You don't need to answer me if you don't like my question. This is just a personal question," Yuna said, appearing to not care at all if he replied or not.
Carl honestly did not mind the question. So he spoke, scratching his temples awkwardly.
"Er," he couldn't help but smile, "I had regressed too much and fallen behind of others in my year actually, so here I am, trying to change."
He had no idea if that was the right thing to say.
Hearing his response, Yuna was just staring at him blankly with no emotions on her face. And then, she also replied with a simple, "Okay."
"…" Carl had a blank look on his face too.
"Are you getting discharged today?" she then followed, as she placed the food and bottle of water to his table.
"Ah, yes, I am, my doctor Cris told me last night," Carl replied.
"Hmm," she stared, but no words came out of her lips.
After she hummed with a nod, the girl then left, leaving the fat boy confused.
Yuna closed the door, and proceeded to the next patient.
She really has no business staying there any longer besides giving the patient food. She was just curious, as she had seen the fat boy training like every time she saw him. In her eyes, she seemed to be pushing himself too hard.
She was also very close to Doctor Cris, and she remembered during their conversations of how he sometimes talked about a certain Carl Craze.
Yuna simply noticed he had been attending to a fat boy named Carl Craze, and took notice.
Doctor Cris was not simply a great doctor, after all.
She had specifically chose to go work to this hospital for his On the Job training as a student of alchemy due to the doctor.
The Doctor Cris Ainsworth whose name was well-known and respected all throughout the world, not only for being a member of a prestigious clan of alchemists. But for his research notes that could even restore a patient's missing limbs and organs. This, in her mind was much more helpful to the world than mages.
Alchemists create and heal. It's what this world needed more, cultivation and magic is just about destruction, they could advance and advance, transcend the limitations of mankind, but what would all that entail in the end?
Power? Selfish and egoistic characters?
Yuna was not a fan of cultivation and mages.
With alchemy, she could do things much better.
Carl has no idea that the doctor was an alchemist, because unlike cultivators, alchemists don't store mana in their body and instead use the available mana in their surroundings. Therefore, they usually don't carry a trace of mana in their body.
But he knew the great debate between alchemy and magic.
Even in his former world, this crazy debate exists. Only that in Earth, it seemed to be much more of a greater deal than he was used to.
Pop!
The sound of a plastic bottle exploding suddenly echoed in his room.
Carl put on a blank speechless expression as water suddenly sprayed onto his face and clothes. As soon as he opened the bottle of water that Yuna gave, it suddenly exploded in his hands and all the water in the bottle splattered to his direction mainly on his face.
Gritting his teeth, an angry vein appeared on his temples.
"That fucking bitch!"
Carl cursed as he saw the markings of alchemy finally light up in the bottom of the plastic bottle, disappearing instantly.
"What the fuck. Did I do something? These alchemists don't change no matter what world they live!"
Annoyed, Carl simply spat a sigh as he headed to the shower to expel the dirt and sweat from his body.
According to his doctor, Aaron Deer confirmed that his hospital fees would be taken care of by the Mages Association. Thus, he didn't need to worry about that.
He was currently wearing his clothes from the closet, which was his uniform, when he checked his body in front of the mirror.
It had only been two days and a few hours yet since his first cultivation, but his body definitely had changed.
It was not just all fat now, he had some muscles! Traces at least.
There were no obvious changes, but if you looked closer, his overall frame was not just a simple ball of slime now. It had volume and strength.
It's extremely far from looking swift and athletic, but this was undoubtedly a great improvement.
'I could at least last 3 minutes in a fight now, without using any technique.'
Feeling refreshed, Carl wore his shoes, and buttoned his vest. Even the fit looked more comfortable now.
Carl didn't stay in the hospital any longer, and left with a refreshed peaceful mind.
The next place he went to was the Dormitory of the River Mage academy, located just across the street adjacent to the hospital.
It was currently 8: 00 am so classes had just started. He hardly spotted any students in the vicinity. It was also fortunate that the dorms were much further away from the class sites.
He wouldn't want to meet anyone that knows the original Carl now, much more Samuel and his gang to show up.
Quickly, Carl went straight to his room, located on the second floor.
He was living in the same room with one other guy but he did not seem to be around. The guy was in the same year as him but he was usually outside. He doesn't appear to be the talkative type, so it worked out well for the original Carl.
Seeing the empty room, Carl did not care whatever he step onto and walked towards his cabinet.
His roommate had always been messy, so he did not care. Fortunately, the guy was not a bully like most male kids in the academy, although he pretty much treated him like air almost every time, so he also did not care.
He pulled his drawer open which accommodated a phone with a cracked screen and grabbed it. He opened the phone and luckily it lighted up and still had plenty of battery and service.
He lost his phone during the fight against Samuel, but thankfully, the original Carl kept his old phone around, not selling it due to laziness.
Pocketing it, Carl then scavenged through his closet for any decent clothes. Yet he could not find any at all.
Almost all his clothes too had not seen the laundry in years! The smell of rotten socks, and dried sweat mixed with other scents invaded his nose, and he almost threw up. So he immediately closed the closet.
His eyes then turned towards his roommates' closet, and a faint smile showing desperate and shamelessness appeared on his face.
As soon as he opened the other closet, he was honestly disappointed with the result. There was not much difference! But he also felt relief. At least the guy had some washed clothes.
Resisting a smile on his face, he took a black hoodie with a popular brand, wore it, lightly chuckled and then finally left the room.
