Redeployment

General POV:

Adawe sat in a large swivel chair in her office in a composed manner despite the key figures on a screen before her. A meeting was called directly after the events in London on how to proceed, as every moment determined their survival.

"The siege to retake London was deemed a failure. Only 30 percent of the city was retaken before omnic reinforcements from Germany and France pushed back British forces out of London. They estimate losses at over 55,000 troops and 40 percent of their resources. Word is that they're requesting more help from us and are sending their own representatives to assist." A general broadcasts.

She doesn't need to look at the other faces on the screen to know they aren't pleased with this news. Still, they refrain from commenting, as they hope good news will be brought forth.

"What did we lose?" A person asks.

Adawe speaks up as she knew the answers to every question, they could possibly ask. "Minimal. Our operatives were originally only there for medical support. As far as combat, only two participated, Shawn Rose aka Bioshock and his partner S3bastian."

As expected, the various leaders of Overwatch faces begin to light up on this information. Shawn and his partner were making quite the impact in this war. So much so, that if he wasn't careful, that people would put all of humanity's hope on him. After meeting him, she knew he didn't share humanity's interests. Unfortunately, with the way things were currently headed, his heroic actions would overshadow his shadiness.

"Did he survive?" Someone asks, hopefully.

"Yes, in fact, it was through his actions that so many in the British army were able to escape and regroup." Adawe is forced to report. Murmurs come from the group as they all recount reports they received on Rose.

"I heard he cured cancer." Someone said. After a while, the people on the screens quiet down, and Adawe continues.

"Yes, his prowess on the battlefield is rapidly gaining, but you have the same information I do. It is not advised for Shawn to be a par to any major actions until we at least get an understanding of his goals." Immediately upon hearing this, the one thing she was trying to avoid was asked.

"How's our progress in Canada with the heron siege?"

"Progress has halted. Our best people are working on it." Adawe responds. She knows what they are about to suggest and is against it. But as a democracy, all votes will overwrite hers so Shawn will be a part of a delicate operation.

Sure enough, someone said it. "Rose has made an impact everywhere he is deployed. I feel that progress will continue if he is reassigned to Canada." Many members on the screens show their agreement, sealing the decision. As the meeting concludes, Adawe sighs as she decides to let Gabriel be the one to reassign him.

Shawn POV:

S3bastian hands me the scalpel as I make a cut next to the wound, allowing me to easily take out the bullet. As soon as the bullet is out of his side, the wound closes within seconds, and the guy looks at me in astonishment. Smiling at his shock, I pat him on the shoulder,

"Drink plenty of water and get some rest." I tell him before moving on to the next person. After the defeat in London, the higher ups were rethinking of the battle plan. I was surprised they didn't ask me to join, as I had valuable insight I could provide, but I guess they didn't want any foreign minds interfering with their decisions. Which was fine with me because now I wasn't planning on providing my assistance to them for free.

As much as I'd hate to admit it, S3bastian, and even Evil Shawn were right, I was a bit too naive. All these near-death experiences and newfound powers have changed my way of thinking. In my old life, I was susceptible to just settling and being lazy. Here I was given a new chance, and I almost wasted it on cutting corners and thinking everything was going to be fine if I just spammed the same techniques. The enemy was always evolving, so I should too.

Putting my current patient to sleep as she was only suffering from over exhaustion, my cell rung. Excusing myself from the room, I answer the call.

"Hello?" I question.

"Shawn, I'm really busy to get into details, but a plane is coming that you'd better be on. You're being redeployed to Canada." He explains.

Well, well. I think it is around that time that they launch their final attempt on the heron siege. I guess the higher ups at Overwatch want me there to make sure things go smoothly. He doesn't even want for my response, as the line just clicks dead. Lucky for him, as I was going to say something smart anyway. I'll just save it for another time, I guess.

Heading back to infirmary, I go over to S3bastian.

"Grab your thing and let's go, we're being reassigned." He doesn't ask questions and goes to our temporary room to grab his hood ornament before returning to my side.

"So, where are we going?" He asks as we head to the designated location for our ride.

"Back to Canada." I respond.

"Back on the main story line you mean." He counters making me raise an eyebrow at his words.
