"Well, now this is boring..."
Lying on the bed, Damon couldn't help but mutter to himself as he stared at the luxurious ceiling design, not knowing what to do.
Leaving Crown's Domain for a change, Damon had decided to accompany David to explore the world—or should he say, to focus more on his cultivation.
But to his disappointment, David's plans didn't align with his. For his breakthrough to the Super Tier, David had chosen to come to China's Kunlun. The '7th most dangerous place on Earth,' as everyone claimed.
"Such bullshit..." Knowing the future, Damon was well aware of the fear that monsters and everyone else had regarding Kunlun, and he knew it was no place to mess around with. Even the three emperors wouldn't dare challenge it together.
Coming back to the present, David had chosen Kunlun for seclusion to fight strong monsters and train for his breakthrough, leaving Damon behind in Shanghai, China.
After all, Kunlun was considered a forbidden place for a reason—even a Super Rank mage could fall there. Bringing an intermediate mage, especially one David was assigned to protect, wasn't an option. He couldn't allow Damon to accompany him.
"If that was the case, I would've stayed behind in Africa..." Damon now regretted coming to China. He did have the option to leave, but he decided to wait for David to ascend to the Super Tier while he cultivated in peace. Once David was free, they'd start traveling together. After all, there were many things Damon wanted to do in this world of magic, and having a trustworthy Super Tier mage as a bodyguard seemed ideal.
"Okay, let's see what I need to do now... First would be cultivating my previous elements to Tier 3... then all the four newer elements to the intermediate level."
"For now, let's not focus too much on control. Cultivating faster should be my priority."
Reaching Tier 3 would normally take a lot of time for anyone, especially from Tier 2. One of Damon's elements, Shadow, was still stuck at Tier 1, but Damon wasn't discouraged at all.
He had already ordered and secured some powerful consumables that would help him cultivate at a much faster pace. Plus, he'd be focusing all his concentration on cultivation, so he believed it might be possible to accomplish these tasks.
"Ah, I honestly can't wait to reach the advanced level! There are so many things I want to do! Collecting totems and similar beasts..."
Yes, beasts similar to totems—beasts that were friendly or neutral toward humans and had been worshipped during ancient times. These beasts had protected humanity from attacks by the sea and other kingdoms, though some had been treated as enemies.
Like the totems, many other beasts with similar stories existed. Some of these mythical creatures, once thought to be legends in Damon's old world, were alive here, with different stories and backgrounds.
These creatures of myth ranged from good and friendly to evil and ruthless, sometimes differing from their legends. Some notable figures included Garuda, the giant avian beast residing in India and worshipped as a god by many. Titans, whose defeat had brought fame to the Parthenon. The Thousand-Headed Sea Emperor in the Indian Ocean, Kraken, the Emperor of Chaos terrorizing Bermuda, and many others.
{A/N: Tell me which beasts you want to add, I might not drag the story by including all but some interesting ones may become Damon's opponent or partner in the future}
"Then there's Yan Ji (Flame Belle, as we call her), Apas, the most talented Medusa... and even elements I've never read about in the novel."
Currently, Damon's summoning element was still at primary rank one. He wasn't focusing as much on his Summoning element as he had been initially hyped about. Sure, he was cultivating it slowly, but he hadn't contracted with any summon creatures yet.
When a dimensional summoner awakens, they can send their consciousness into the Summoning Dimension. There, the summoner must find a creature willing to serve them and complete the contract. Once this is done, the mage can summon the creature to fight on their behalf. However, most summoners don't emphasize the importance of their creatures, as they are only "part-time companions," constantly battling for survival in their own dimension.
Few mages pour in resources like Mo Fan did to empower their initial Summoned Beasts, but those who do find it worthwhile.
Summon elemental mages generally don't have direct combat abilities unless they invest heavily in their creatures, which doesn't appeal to many who seek instant results. Hence, despite its potential, the Summoning element doesn't attract much enthusiasm.
Damon was now able to send his consciousness into the summoning plane, but he hadn't formed any contracts yet. He was still waiting for the perfect beast.
Since Damon wanted something exceptional, he regularly visited the summoning plane to search for a creature that met his high expectations. But after months of searching, he had yet to find the one.
Fortunately, Damon's Map worked well in the summoning plane, just as it did on Earth. With the Map's help, Damon could easily navigate through the plane. And now, after all this time, he was finally closing in on the beast he desired.
"Maybe a day or two of travel and I might reach it... I wonder what kind of beast it is."
'Maybe a dragon or a phoenix.. who knows'
With his map, Damon gave a detailed command to search for a beast with the highest potential to grow and that could become the strongest in combat within the range of Damon's capabilities to make a contract with.
As the map searched, it found some kind of beast's nest near the coastal area of the plane. Now, Damon took it upon himself to venture out and find the beast that the system considered perfect for him.
Lost in his thoughts, a sudden vibration from his phone brought him back to reality as the ringtone now captured his attention.
"Who might it be?" Damon wondered, as not many people had his number. Ye Chen, Evan, and a couple of his other subordinates were among the few who had his private number, but they rarely bothered him unless it was something important.
Grabbing the phone, Damon's eyebrows raised in surprise as his eyes reflected the name of the caller.
"Tang Yue."
