Chapter 12: Enlightenment

Curious about what is happening in Nazarick, Ainz aura erupts, causing an ominous and frightening pressure to appear in the surroundings!

The air had changed, becoming cold and chilling as if the heat in the surrounding had been consumed.

Abel felt his life flash before his eyes and his soul was leaving his body, to enter the absolute void of Death!

For someone like him who was well versed in Death, Abel for the first time experienced what it felt like on the opposite end of it. He did not like it at all!

It was only a minute before Ainz came back to his senses, deactivating his aura, sighing before talking to Abel, "This is a Message Scroll, a scroll that will allow you to contact me, regardless of the distance. To use it, channel some of your mana inside it, while thinking of the person you wish to talk to. The scroll will do the rest."

Not looking at the drenched but also grateful Abel, Ainz pondered on the immature plan he concocted. With his obligations to Death Fortress temporarily completed, there were two things he wanted to do. However, each of them have pros and cons.

As a Player, a member of Ainz Ooal Gown, it would not be a stretch to say the blood of adventure flowed through his veins, even though he lacked said veins.

Amongst the members of the guild, Ainz values information above most things because with information, he can win almost every battle, as long as he has time to plan. He did not believe this was any different.

Though the presence of gods placed a huge pressure on him, it was also an opportunity. If he could utilize the means of this world, Ainz imagined he could truly become a Supreme Being.

The second plan was to go directly to the Radiant City, and destroy the Church of Sun and Sky, limiting the strength of the God of Light and then finding a way to reach Celestia and killing him.

While this was a good idea, Ainz was not stupid. It's true that Death Fortess summoned him, but that does not mean he has to put his life on the line. If he attacked the God of Light of the Church of Sun and Sky, he would be the enemy of the Pantheon of Light, a subordinate faction to the Pantheon of Order!

According to Abel, the Pantheon of Order could challenge the True Gods, beings that predate the world and were simply too powerful to think about. Even if he had his guild mates with him, Ainz would not dare to think of challenging this world's version of World Enemies.

No matter which action he takes, the gods would take notice of him, the only difference is how intense this notice would be.

After thinking, Ainz decided it was best if he chose the first option since he had no idea how strong these gods were. Attacking an enemy with no idea what your enemy is capable of is utter foolishness!

Ainz had some suspicions that the gods of this world might be far more powerful than himself since he had a look at the formation used to pull him here.

From Abel and Cain, Ainz learns that the God of Death had used his divine power to bring him here from another world, which means he directly ripped him from a planet.

This is frightening to Ainz as he knew that the God of Death's domain isn't spacetime, so how did he bring him here?

Abel hurriedly caught the scroll that was pulled out of nowhere, before saying, "So you still wish to go? I guess it's understandable since we have nothing we can offer to you." Sighing with embarrassment, Abel added, "I wish you the best in exploring Dominion."

In Abel's mind, Ainz was far stronger than a True God, so he hoped that the world had something to offer him.

In fact, to Abel, if Ainz returns to his world without gaining anything, Abel fears Ainz would destroy the world in rage!

Ainz stood up and nodded, "Staying here is boring, considering that I have just come to another world, it would make sense that I explore it. Plus, who knows, I might find one of those Divine Weapons that I have heard about."

As Ainz spoke, he disappeared, not before leaving another line behind, "I won't turn my back when you call, so don't worry."

Looking at the place that the skeleton disappeared from, Abel felt that the scroll in his hand weighed far more than he thought it would. If he knew that the Codex of Souls would have given him so many favors from a creature so strong, he would have taken it out from the beginning.

Still, even with everything he had gained, what Abel wanted to know was, who was Ainz Ooal Gown?

————

'Where am I supposed to go? I'm in the north right now, the place where the Death Fortress and the Radiant City are located. If I leave here and go south, I will arrive in the Forbidden Library, the chambers of endless spells and dark rituals. Further south would be the most mysterious domain, the Stellar Palace.'

Ainz had learned a lot of information , which includes the domains and some of the powerful factions that even the gods feared.

'Hmm? I think I will go to the east to Howling Waste. I hear it's home to all kinds of legendary creatures, such as the phoenixes, dragons, titans and more. '

Ainz wondered if any of the creatures in the Howling Waste would meet his collectors requirement.

One must know that while Ainz is a hoarder, he also loves rare items. He also likes rare creatures as well, it doesn't matter if they are strong or not, just that they are rare.

Flying through the air at a leisurely speed, Ainz mind thought about why the God of Death aided Death Fortress. He was summoned and yet, the one who did the summon did not appear.

As Ainz flew, a weird scene would emerge in the eyes of onlookers.

The clothes of Ainz, who was traveling at a speed faster than a jet, was unmoved. It created a paradox of the situation, not working the way they are supposed to.

Shaking his head. Ainz puts the thought of God of Death at the back of his mind and creates a book and a pen.

Writing a couple words on the pages, Ainz fell into deep thought, occasionally adding words to the book.

[Benefits of having legendary beasts as a food supply]

[Ways to Mass producing Legendary Creatures]

[The Autonomy of Beasts]

'Hmmm, I don't have any class or skills to tame beasts. It's times like these that I need Aura. Wait, if I tame them, I would have to use the Einherjar's Planar Scepter to transport them to Nazarick, which would be a problem if the Einherjar's Planar Scepter breaks under the stress of world transfer. Hmm, it's a risk I'm willing to take. If I can take them to Nazarick, Aura would have to take care of them, which she would love. However, the cost of feeding them would be immense, which would make the valve of the beasts lower than the cost of taking care of them, which means I am not making any profit. I will also need to think of a place for them, the Sixth Floor could only accommodate much.'

Ainz put his notebook away, looking around for any landmark, before seeing one. "At my current speed, I will arrive in a couple of hours at the very least. If I had seen or been to the place before, I could have just teleported there, well, if I tried, I could be there in a flash but since I have the time, I might as well study this world magic system."

"I have been curious since I came to this world about Abel and Cain; how are they able to retain all their mana inside their bodies? In my case, my mana is split into two parts; the purer of the two mana reside inside my body, while the other portion in the area around myself. When I cast spells, the mana in my body will react and control the mana in the surroundings, which will make the spell manifest into reality." Because of his curious side, Ainz had studied Abel and Cain as they slept, reaching a shocking conclusion!

Ainz had discovered that Dominion's magic system was far more powerful than the Ainzland and by extension, Yggdrasil.

Yggdrasil and Ainzland both possess mana, however when it compares to Dominion magic System it is worse. No matter how much time passes in Dominion, even if all the mana in the world disappeared, since the inhabitants kept their mana in their bodies, they would not lose magic.

Just because of this fact, Ainz rated the Dominion magic system as number one.

However Ainz was disappointed as even with all his power, he realized he could only learn this world magic system if he abolished his levels, which he would not do. He would not destroy his hard-earned efforts.

The best benefit of this system was that he would gain a limitless amount of mana, well a massive mana pool.

Still, Ainzland and Dominion's paths were highly compatible, and Ainz should be able to learn some of the system knowledge and make it his own.

As Ainz was lost in thought about how to merge the two systems, the vibrant land of towering trees and life could be seen ahead, making him startled as he could not imagine such an amazing sight.

Even back at his time in Yggdrasil, he had never seen such a beautiful scene, which might be because it was just a game, and this was reality.

"Howling Waste, a name that doesn't match this place! Such a pure untouched piece of land, the only name that would be appropriate would truly be Primal! Just look at those beautiful beastly creatures running away in total calmness."

Ainz was truly marveled at the scene, so much so that he couldn't believe that this piece of land would be next to a land of death, it was like a ruler had perfectly divided life and death at this place.

A sense of oneness and detachment appeared in Ainz's mind, causing his consciousness to ascend above strict rules and seem omniscient. From an unknown place, Ainz mouth moved, uttering words from an unknown source, "Life and Death cannot exist without each other and are bound by the inevitability of fate. Despite its association with death, even that realm holds the possibility of life, and conversely, Life requires the presence of Death." Ainz didn't know what was happening, but his mind seemed to become clear, solving all questions that were in his mind.

The confusions he had about Death seem to be solved instantly.

Ainz's floating body gradually descended from the skies, supported by two insurmountable authorities that seem to originate beyond all things, but are also present as well.
