I couldn't access any of my books through web novel so I had to write half of it on a note pad, uninstalled and reinstalled web novel and then managed to finish writing.

Oh joy...

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

In a forest full of lush trees and teeming with life, birds fed their chicks as they chirped hungrily, squirrels gobbled their nuts and fish swam through the nearby crystal clear, glistening river.

Suddenly, a large white spider with pink lines and decorating it's body appeared on the vibrant green grass.

After it's appearance the animals around quickly scampered away into their borrows or flew away.

'So, no reward for being the first heteromorphic player or first Taratect spider monster. Slightly disappointing but expected nonetheless.' Joseph thought as he used his now much wider field of view to take in his surroundings.

He thought that he would spawn in a city or something like a beginner's village when he chose to spawn at Midgard, but a forest is better as he is likely to be attacked if he suddenly appeared in some human city.

Why choose Midgard instead of a much more monster friendly place like Niflheim?

Well that is obviously because this is the best time for a heteromorphic player to explore Midgard and Asgard since they won't be teeming with players who want to PK him for his EXP and loot. In fact, considering the vastness and freshness of game he doubted that he would even meet any players much less PKers.

Taking a few steps forward, Joseph or Shiraori in this case if he is to be addressed by his gamertag walked forward towards the stream ahead of him.

While walking, one of his legs got Infront of the other one making him trip and almost fall.

'Trying to walk using eight legs is too hard. I knew this was a bad idea.' He thought to himself as he decided to lift two pairs of his legs into the air and walk on four legs instead.

Arriving at the stream of water, Joseph looked down at his reflection. Seeing a face no mother could love.

'Yep, this was a bad idea, but I had to try, almost no game allows you to take a form so alien and exotic due to the severe disconnect it would cause. Usually just making yourself a bit taller or shorter for a few hours results in nausea and a headache, this can probably cause a migraine or a coma.'

Disconnect is simply a phenomenon that occurs when a person uses an avatar with a form different than the one of their original human body. The more different the avatar is from the body the greater the symptoms.

Symptoms range from slight disorientation after long extended use of an avatar a few centimeters taller than one's original body.

Harsh headaches, vomiting and a hard time getting used to controlling ones body after use of an avatar with added limbs

To finally death after the usage of an avatar with a completely alien form relivtive to that of the original.

Due to that, most V.R games don't even offer the option to modify the length of ones fingers, much less make them a spider monster.

'I mean the added field of view and balance is cool and all but I'll have to probably make a new avatar after testing out the severity of the disconnect using this one. They probably figured out a way to lessen the disconnect since there were players who were just blobs of slime like Hirohiro.' Joseph thought as he took in his surroundings.

Walking up to a tree he placed his two front legs on it, trying to climb on it and walk horizontally like a spider. After several failed attempts he gave up.

Opening his status window he was presented with an image of his avatar and his status.

'I'm so weak.....makes sense. Well at least my agility stat is pretty high, although I frankly can't see it considering how hard it is to move.' Joseph thought and tried to sprint to test it out although he predictably just stumbled over his own legs and face planted into the dirt.

'Well, enough messing around, as a certain Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System would say; it's time for testing.' Joseph wiped the dirt on his face and opened his inventory.

It had only 15 slots which were all empty. Closing his inventory he grabbed a nearby branch and tossed it inside his inventory.

Opening it once more he found it inside one of the slots in his inventory with the name tag of [Branch] appearing once his vision hovered over it.

Grabbing another branch he tossed it in his inventory and it occupied another slot.

'Looks like it's either impossible to stack items or it's impossible to stack items that don't look exactly the same. More thorough testing will be needed down the line.' Joseph thought as he started walking down the stream.

He made a gesture and enabled his previously disabled heads up display or HUD for short.

It displayed a mini map at the bottom right corner, and five differently coloured bars.

A green HP bar, a purple MP bar, a yellow stamina bar, a red hunger bar and a blue thirst bar.

His HP, MP and stamina bars were all full while his hunger and thirst bars were both slightly depleted.

While he was walking by the stream he noticed a few fishes swimming in it. Joseph stood completely still on the river bank without movement for a few seconds.

A bold fish swam close to him and he used his two front legs to kick it out of the water.

The fish flopped in a feeble attempt to return to the water and just as it was so close to going back to the river, death arrived.

Joseph watched the flopping fish struggle for it's life and wondered 'how do I even eat this thing? can't really move my mouth, maybe I can eat it after putting it in my inventory, wait can u even put living things in your inventory, meh only one way to find out.'

Just as the fish was about to enter the water once more he used one of his front legs to press it down on the ground. He tried to put it in his inventory through the small vortex that appeared near him but it just wouldn't go in, unaware of his strength he pushed a little too hard and the fish was crushed into paste, finally entering his inventory and occupying one of the slots as a [Raw dead salmon].

Neatly enough the option to consume it didn't appear. Taking it out of his inventory, the option to eat it was finally presented to him. Joseph didn't eat it. Instead he caught another fish, quickly murdered it in the name of science and put in his inventory.

'Let's check the test results. Hmmm, it says that the devs are horrible people, horrible horrible people. We weren't even testing for that.'

Turns out you also couldn't stack consumables like food. Meaning you could only have 15 items in your inventory unless you paid for extra slots.

'Luckily I got ten years worth of salaries saved up.' Joseph thought as he opened the cash shop only to find a "Coming soon" message.

'I'm surprised they don't have anything for sale yet. Meh they'll probably be selling inventory slots at 10$ a piece in a week. Money grubbing fuckers. The only one allowed to be rich should be me! Anyway, back to testing.' Joseph thought before opening his status window.

He had leveled up twice from killing just two normal fishes. He also now had two racial classes available for him and almost 200 job classes available.

Joseph opened up the racial class options first. The two classes available were [Poison Taratect] and [Greater Taratect]

'Not exactly the same evolutionary path as Shiro but similar, [Poison Taratect] will probably give me poison related skills while [Greater Taratect] will probably give me skills and benefits more likely to be physical.'

Not choosing either of them yet, Joseph decided to take a look at the almost 200 available job classes.

After looking through the dizzying amount of jobs ranging from iconic to unknown to downright weird, Joseph came to the consensus that most of the jobs available to him were magic related jobs like [Elementalist], [Sorcerer], [Necromancer], [Cleric], [Bishop], [Poison user], [Wizard], [Druid] and the like while there were far fewer physical combat related classes. Some of the few ones available were [Berserker], [Executioner], [Evil slayer], [Fighter], [Ki master], [Monk], [Single blow].

There were also some seemingly stealth related jobs like [Tree stalker], [Assassin], [Stalker] and [Shadow walker].

Joseph didn't see any creation related classes like Blacksmith and saw a few Classes that he couldn't really put into a category like [Evangelist], [Seductress], [Insect master], [Maid], [Poison maker], [Martyr], [Air rider], [Commander], [Beast Tamer], [Mount], [Shape shifter], [Runner] and [Heretic].

Joseph noted that there were no weapon related classes like swordsman or spearman probably due to his lack of arms.

Faced with 183 options Joseph was unsure of what to choose to say the least.

(A/N: most of the jobs I found on the overlord wiki but a few i made up. Try and guess which ones and no cheating~.)

I'll be ending this chapter here. Leave a comment with pretty much all the Jobs and skills you can think of. And don't use the ones from the Overlord Wiki since I already know them. Lustful out!
