Chapter 14: In Slane We Slay

The dark alleyways of the city were rather apparent. A highly religious city had succumbed to the vices of crime and money, thieves lurked the alleyways assaulting travellers in broad daylight. The city had sent their scriptures to take down the numerous gangs, but they kept on coming back; like cockroaches. They had infested the whole city, lurking in the shadows, murdering the innocents. Justice is heavy, an execution in broad daylight, a knife in the back. Belief in the 6 Great Gods is all that holds the people together, drawing attention away from the criminals. The scriptures are too busy to sweep the streets, letting the infestation fester like an infected wound.

"Atlas-san, you have been assigned with the simple job of cleaning up the trash." Narberal chuckled.

"Narberal! This is an important task given by Ainz-sama, do not make it sound any less critical." Yuri spoke.

"My task is to execute criminals?" Atlas asked.

"Yes. By the way, if there are spare bodies, bring them to me; alive if you can. Humans are yummy." Solution winked.

"Consuming such trash would desecrate your body." Atlas spoke.

"Like you haven't already been desecrated." Narberal laughed.

The room fell silent.

"Do you have something against me?" Atlas asked to Narberal.

"I have nothing in particular for you." She responded.

Atlas glared at Narberal Gamma, leaving a short mental note in his mind; [Bitch].

The transition to getting accustomed to his new body gave Atlas some time to learn some new language, giving himself a 'personality'. The hormones that flew through his body also changed the way he thought, making rational thinking slightly more difficult. But in his core, he was still a Warrior first and foremost.

"Sister Yuri, Where shall I hunt?" He asked.

"The south-west quadrant of the city contains much more criminal activity, see whether you can help out the populace." She responded.

"Acknowledged."

"What will you three be doing while I am hunting?" He asked.

"Narberal will accompany you on the hunt, I will remain here and gather information from customers, and Solution will keep watch of you both." Yuri announced.

"Acknowledged."

Atlas nodded to Narberal and left the premises ready to hunt. The outside seemed rather busy this time of the day, being the peak of the day. Atlas and Narberal quickly made their way down to the south-west of the city, traversing crowds of humans.

"Disgusting filth." Atlas whispered as he walked through a cluster of people.

"Hush. Do not blow our cover." Narberal spoke.

They continued down the busy streets of the city, eventually making their way into the south-west quadrant of the city.

"You go down the large alleyway, I will do through this one." Narberal said as she pointed to two parallel alleyways.

"Acknowledged." Atlas replied.

Atlas walked down a large alleyway which was quiet for the most part, accompanied with isolated screams now and then. The alleyway seems to be recently abandoned, showing signs of a fight from the traces of blood left behind. Boxes and bottles were scattered throughout the alleyway, inviting danger to those with poor sight. Atlas continued to walk down the alleyway without a care in the world, not even drawing his sword in anticipation of battle.

THUMP

A large figure fell from the rooftops, landing on his feet, in front of Atlas.

"Hello there, you must be a rich kid with all of that plate you're wearin. How about you share some of that with me?" The figure spoke in a threading tone.

The man grasped a short sword and walked closer to Atlas. Atlas had yet to draw a weapon, almost as if he was inviting the thief.

"I see you are a thief. You see, I am a master thief, For I STEAL LIVES!"

Atlas drove his right hand straight through the man's chest, pulling it out to retrieve the man's spine. The skeleton threw the spine to the side and waited in the alleyway. Sitting on a box, the skeleton waited for more prey.

"So boring." The skeleton complained to himself.

"HEY YOU! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING IN SOLVAIRE'S DOMAIN?!" A group approached Atlas, brandishing much heavier armour and weapons.

"Not a talker, eh? Well we'll see whether you can stay silent after-"

STAB

Atlas drove his red sword straight through the person in the front of the group, instantly killing him.

"Scripture?!"

Atlas turned to the rest of the group, giving off a menacing aura. His custom made armour seemed to intimidate the thieves, making them tremble slightly.

"KILL HIM!"

Atlas dived straight into combat, slicing through endless waves of weak thieves. As the thieves started to fall, more came to take their place. The alleyway must have been a very large criminal den. Atlas left no man standing, making sure each one was dead with a cut to the neck.

As Atlas finished the last of the criminals, he found his way into the deepest depths of the alley; a small House which had shields and crossbows mounted on the walls. A man exited through the front door and shouted at the skeleton.

"WELL YOU MUST THINK YOU'RE SOME HOT SHIT! KILLING ALL MY BOYS AND WALKING INTO MY BASE!" The man shouted.

"EAT SHIT!"

The man fired an arrow from his crossbow, which bounced off of Atlas' plate. The skeleton quickly approached the man, drawing his sword once more.

"IMPOSSIBLE! THAT WAS THE ALMIGHTY SLAYING ARROW! IT CAN EVEN DESTROY A DEATH KNIGHT!" The man shouted again.

"Your arrow and skills are too weak to harm me, trash." Atlas spoke.

"Come one... I have quite a bit of money, perhaps you could let me-"

SLASH

The skeleton decapitated the man without a further word, leaving a bloody mess all over the floor.

"This hunt is complete, I will now wait for Narberal-"

*yawn*

Narberal turned the corner and revealed herself to the skeleton.

"Disgusting, you got their blood on you, clean up." She spoke.

"This is a hunt, blood is necessary." He responded angrily.

"Well I executed all of the thieves down that other alley in less than half the time you took, and I am still clean." Narberal chuckled.

"Now then, Yuri instructed me to tell you to leave a 'calling card' of sorts." Narberal spoke.

"Easy."

Atlas looked towards a cluster of bodies that he left on the ground. He pointed his sword towards the body and a cluster of red orbs flew towards him, leaving the bodies in a dry and lifeless state.

"This doesn't help me gain levels anymore, but it helps me recover." Atlas spoke.

Atlas pointed his palm at the bodies and released a small pulse of fire, engulfing the evidence.

"Burning bodies? Seems too common, but it will do."

"We are done here, let us return to the safe house." Narberal finally announced.
