52 Ch52. Thousand Mile Astrologer Awakens

Berenice Nagua Santini, the Cardinal of Fire.

Ginedine Delan Guelfi, the Cardinal of Water.

Dominic Ihre Partouche, the Cardinal of Wind.

Raymond Zarg Lauransan, the Cardinal of Earth and commander of the Six Scriptures.

Yvon Jasna Dracrowa, the Cardinal of Light.

Maximilian Oreio Lagier, the Cardinal of Darkness.

All six of these personages were currently sitting in a room, behind an oval table, heatedly discussing the recent happening in the Slane Theocracy when the topic finally fell onto the disappearance of the Sunlight Scripture.

"It's been a week! Do we still have no information of what happened?" Dominic asked, his expression dark and stormy.

"No. Not even the Windflower Scripture could find out anything. The Sunlight Scripture as if disappeared into the thin air." Raymond heavily sighed.

"Then good thing the Thousand Mile Astrologer woke up." Yvon suddenly interjected. His subordinates were mostly healers so it was him who got the girl in his care when she was found injured. To this day, nobody had any idea what happened, only the girl could clarify.

"She is awake!?" Dominic exclaimed, "Finally! We will finally get some answers."

"Yes, she will be coming in a moment. Please, be gentle with the girl," Yvon asked, giving Dominic a pointed look, getting a scoff in return, "She is quite traumatized so pushing her for answers won't help. On the contrary, it might just scare the girl enough she will stop responding. I have no idea what she saw... but it must have been too shocking."

"I think we can agree not to be rash." Ginedine accepted, also giving Dominic a look.

Dominic harrumphed and muttered some unsavory things under his nose but decided to comply, "Fine, I will try to be... gentle." He scoffed.

Yvon then signalled one of the two guards standing near the door to call in the Thousand Mile Astrologer.

The girl entered, timidly walking inside while being visibly distraught. Her hair was messy despite the effort to make her presentable, she had dark circles under her eyes despite the fact she was in a coma for the past week, and her body slightly shook as if she was cold despite the fact it was summer.

The Cardinals looked at each other, surprised at the bad state of their best divination user and even Dominic decided that being too forceful would probably make the girl's mental state crumble.

"C-Cardinals," The Astrologer stuttered and bowed.

Deciding to take the reins, Yvon set his face into a gentle expression, "Child, we need to know what happened to the Sunlight Scripture. Do you think you can manage to tell us?" He asked in a soft, coaxing tone.

"I... There were two of them." The Astrologer quietly started, as if afraid of summoning 'them'. She was just a normal farm girl before her talent was discovered so being attacked from such a distance was something that spooked her greatly.

Taking a deep breath and remembering every time she was summoned to give a report about some event she observed with her ability, the Astrologer barely scraped enough courage to continue her report. "A man and woman who was introduced as Solution Epsilon." She shuddered, remembering the cold blue eyes that stared right at her through the distance before the room exploded. "The-, They first insulted the Six Gods, calling them fa-, false."

That got a visible reaction from all of the cardinals. While some milder ones, like Yvon, just frowned, Dominic was visibly seething in anger, tightly gripping the armrests of his chair and making them creak. This had the effect of making the Astrologer take a fearful step back.

Seeing it, Yvon donned his gentle expression back and spoke in a calming tone, "Continue, child. Don't be afraid. We are not mad at you."

Astrologer nervously looked around, her body completely tense as she grimaced. Her body suddenly went still before she took another calming breath and straightened up. All the cardinals could see she was still slightly shaking but they had to admire the girl's resolve to put aside her fearfulness. "Commander Nigun... they mocked him that our Gods are dead." She nervously stated, expecting yet another outburst of silent anger from the cardinals.

Yeah, sorry guys. This is where my muse ended. Mostly because I realized I again didn't focus enough on the MC in favor of Solution Epsilon and also because the Overlord's New World is a kinda unappealing world to write about for me.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the ride. As I said, this is supposed to be just momentary entertainment anyway.

Please do leave your impression of the story in comments or reviews though. Especially how MC felt to you. If you think you have some kind of advice, you can leave that in the comments too.

Thank you and have a nice day.
