Davian’s Theatrical Act

As the day continued to unfold in the city of NEOM, Vecna was determined to create moments of respite and tranquility for his family amidst the medical appointments and the uncertainty that loomed over them.

After their initial consultation at the NEOM Regenerative Medicine Institute, he led them on a brief tour of Ward 87, which was not only a part of the medical facility but also a testament to NEOM's commitment to holistic healthcare.

This Ward akin to the other modules of NEOM was a marvel in itself. Its architecture seamlessly blended modernity with nature, featuring large glass walls that allowed sunlight to flood in while offering panoramic views of meticulously landscaped gardens.

The exterior walls were covered in vertical gardens, creating a vibrant tapestry of greenery that contrasted beautifully with the sleek lines of the building. The air was infused with the subtle scent of blooming flowers, creating a soothing atmosphere that enveloped them.

Vecna guided his family through the spacious corridors, each step echoing softly on the polished marble floors.

The walls were adorned with tasteful art pieces, evoking a sense of calm and inspiration. Large windows provided glimpses of the cityscape, showcasing NEOM's commitment to sustainability with its advanced urban planning and eco-friendly architecture.

As they ventured further into Ward 87, they came upon a hidden gem—a serene garden nestled within the medical facility. It was a place of quiet contemplation and rejuvenation. Lush greenery, meticulously manicured shrubs, and a variety of vibrant flowers created a picturesque backdrop.

A trickling stream meandered through the garden, its crystal-clear waters reflecting the azure sky above. Stone pathways wound through the landscape, inviting visitors to explore the natural beauty that surrounded them.

Vecna led his family to a shaded alcove near the stream, where comfortable seating awaited them. He had arranged for this moment of respite to help them relax and recharge. Elena, Silvia, and Alexander settled into the cushioned chairs, their faces graced with soft smiles as they took in the tranquility of the garden.

Elena ran her fingers over the delicate petals of a nearby flower, her worries momentarily forgotten in the presence of such natural beauty. She turned to her son with gratitude in her eyes. "Adrian, this place is like a sanctuary. Thank you for bringing us here."

Vecna nodded, his gaze scanning the garden's serene landscape. "I thought we could use a moment of peace, Mom. We'll get through this together."

As a soothing breeze rustled the leaves and the gentle murmur of the stream played in the background, Vecna had one more surprise in store for his family. He had arranged for dinner at an Italian Restaurant he checked online to be in Ward 87.

The restaurant was a delightful blend of traditional Italian aesthetics and modern design. Soft lighting and warm earthy tones created an inviting atmosphere. Tables were adorned with fresh flowers, and the menu boasted a selection of authentic Italian dishes made with the finest ingredients.

The family enjoyed a leisurely dinner, savoring pasta dishes with rich, flavorful sauces, freshly baked bread, and delectable desserts that brought smiles to their faces.

It was a welcome departure from the hurried and often unhealthy meals they had grown accustomed to during their journey. In this moment, they found not only nourishment for their bodies but also a sense of togetherness that provided solace.

As the night sky draped NEOM in its velvety embrace, Vecna escorted his family back to their hotel, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

With his family settled in for the night, Vecna decided to embark on a different journey of his own. He made his way out from the Hotel, being straightforward and explaining that he was going to resume his work.

That's when the Satisfy Capsule Hub inside Ward 88 come into play, a place where he could immerse himself in the virtual world and advance his plans.

Vecna stood before the imposing entrance of the Satisfy Capsule Hub in NEOM. The sleek, futuristic building stood as a testament to the ever-advancing technology of the city. It was a place of dreams and adventures, a portal to the vast virtual world of Satisfy.

The Hub's exterior was adorned with dynamic holographic displays showcasing epic battles, breathtaking landscapes, and legendary heroes from within the game. Vecna couldn't help but be captivated by the tantalizing glimpses of the adventures that awaited him inside.

With a determined stride, Vecna entered the Hub, greeted by the subtle hum of technology and the soft ambient lighting that bathed the interior in a calming glow. The reception area was sleek and modern, with a polished white marble floor and minimalist furnishings. A friendly attendant stood behind the counter, ready to assist players on their virtual journeys.

Approaching the counter, Vecna inquired about securing a capsule for his gaming session. The attendant, a young woman with a warm smile, standing behind her counter while at the corner of his eyes he could spot the room full of Satisfy Capsules.

"Welcome to the Satisfy Hub, sir. How long would you like to access the game today?"

Vecna considered his options and decided on the one-week plan, ensuring he had ample time to join Elysia and Maribel in their mission. He paid the required fees, and the attendant granted him an access card that would allow him inside the gaming area.

With the card in hand, Vecna made his way to the designated capsule chamber. Each capsule was a marvel of technology, designed for maximum comfort and immersion. He stepped into the capsule, where a reclined seat awaited him, equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and neural interfaces.

As he settled into the comfortable chair, Vecna couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.

'This is a Premium Capsule. Whoa, this comfortable feeling… Natural Leather?'

'I should put some money aside and buy a Premium instead of the Medium-Range.'

He had to be careful with regard to his health, since it was detrimental that he continued to play Satisfy and earn enough money from the game to be financially stable in a world that was run by money.

Satisfy had become more than just a game to him; it was a place that offered him a way out of the financial struggles.

The process of logging into Satisfy began with a series of preliminary scans to ensure his physical and mental well-being. Once cleared, the capsule closed around him, sealing him in a cocoon of technology and darkness.

The world around Vecna dissolved, and he found himself standing in the vibrant and immersive realm of Satisfy. It was a transition he had experienced countless times, yet the sense of wonder and anticipation never diminished.

Vecna's neurological signature was confirmed, and his avatar materialized within the game world. He stood outside the grand gates of Davian's Mansion, a majestic structure that loomed before him. The sunlight of day bathed the landscape in warm hues, casting long shadows on the cobblestone path that led to the mansion.

With the transition complete, he stood there looking at the location he chose to log out. He was wearing his aristocratic suit that he spent quite the sum in the Auction House from a strange individual who claimed to have stealed the suit from a Baron.

The cost? Two thousand gold for Level 1 Items that had no effect apart from its aesthetic side.

However, the psychological side of the Satisfy World, made this suit quite the treasure for individuals like Vecna who wanted to immerse and not be subjected to various biases the NPCs might have on players like him.

'I can't hear any signs of chaos. Davian should have listened to my advice to not start conflict with Reginald.'

As he took his first step forward, Vecna inadvertently scarred the tranquil scene. A startled maid who had been tending to the garden nearby let out a surprised yelp, her watering can tumbling from her grasp as she stumbled backward.

Vecna quickly moved to assist the maid, not letting his jerk side get the better of him. "I apologize for the startle. Are you alright?"

The maid, a young woman with wide eyes and a flush of embarrassment, managed a shaky nod. "Y-Yes, sir, I'm fine. Just a bit surprised, that's all."

Vecna extended his hand to help her regain her footing, his actions taking the young woman aback. Her cheeks flushed even deeper as she found herself in the presence of a nobleman who exuded an air of chivalry. "I'm glad you're alright. Please, carry on with your work. I'll make sure to be more careful."

With a courteous nod, Vecna continued his journey away from Davian's Mansion, leaving the maid to her gardening duties.

Once Vecna had returned to Summit's Crest town within Satisfy, he wasted no time in accessing the Blood Servant System, a unique feature that allowed him to locate and communicate with his loyal servants.

Using the Blood Servant System, Vecna could access the real-time locations of his servants within the game world. The system quickly responded, these locations appeared as marked points on his in-game map, allowing him to easily navigate to their positions.

To his surprise, they were inside Reginald's Mayor Office, a place of power within Summit's Crest. What surprised him further was the fact Davian was inside Reginal's office alongside Elysia and Maribel.

'I wonder what they are scheming. From their icons they don't seem to be fighting.'

'Hah, let's check the progress. I'm curious to hear Davian's reasons for visiting Reginal at the same time as Elysia and Maribel. I can imagine the girls being invited in my absence, but him?'

Making his way toward the Town Hall, even activating his Golden Flash and utilizing Shadowstep to bypass all of the Guards, Vecna began approaching Reginald's Mayor Office, while doing this evasive entrance in this protected location, his vampiric hearing didn't let him down since adapting to it.

Vecna's vampiric hearing allowed him to catch snippets of the conversation between Maribel and Reginald Thornfield before he even entered the Mayor's Office. Their voices, though hushed, carried a tone of seriousness and intent that piqued his curiosity.

Maribel, her voice tinged with the weight of her vast knowledge, spoke in a measured tone. "Reginald, you must understand that the Orcs have been a longstanding threat to our kind. Their history is marred by bloodshed and conquest, and their strength should never be underestimated."

"Before the Human's gathered together to form Cities and later on Kingdoms, the Orcs and other older races ruled this Continent. The fact that even the mythical Saharan Emperor of the Warring States couldn't wipe the Orcs, could be a warning sign."

"You shouldn't overlook them just because they are now akin to barbarians."

Reginald Thornfield, the Mayor of Summit's Crest, replied with slight concern that generated a scoff from another male voice. "I'm well aware of the danger they pose, Miss Maribel. That's why we've called for this meeting."

"We understand that sir Vecna had … some difficulties that didn't allow us to reach out for his opinion on our approach."

"However, I've been made aware by Norwood that you have insights into the Orcs culture and strategies. This could be the key to defending our town."

Vecna paused outside the door, his keen senses allowing him to eavesdrop without detection. Maribel continued, her voice taking on a solemn note. "Over the centuries, the Orcs kept on their tradition even after their devastating defeat. They are not a unified force, but rather a collection of clans with their own leaders and agendas."

"The fact an Orc managed to unify the rebellious and unruly orcs and be confident that he could wage war against the Saharan Empire, could be a warning in itself."

Reginald leaned in, clearly attentive to her words. "Tell me more. How can we exploit their divisions to our advantage?"

Maribel's tone grew more animated as she delved into her analysis. "The Orcs value strength above all else. If we can challenge their leaders and defeat them in one-on-one combat, it could fracture their unity. Furthermore, they have a complex hierarchical system. Disrupting their chain of command would sow chaos among their ranks."

Vecna, who listened silently, yet to enter, began stroking his chin, pondering on what Maribel just said. 'A duel to the Death? I think this was an troope of the Orcs from the older fantasy books and games.'

Reginald nodded in agreement, his face reflecting his growing understanding. "So, we need to identify their leaders and exploit their weaknesses. What else can you tell us, Maribel?"

Vecna, listening intently, couldn't help but be impressed by Maribel's knowledge and strategic thinking. She was a valuable asset that landed in his hands, an information trove that would ease the process of navigating the murky waters of Saharan Empire politics.

As Vecna entered Reginald's Mayor Office, he found himself amidst an intriguing assembly of his allies. Maribel was engrossed in conversation with Reginald Thornfield, sharing the wealth of knowledge she had accumulated over centuries regarding the Orcs.

Her insights into the history of the Dwarves and their archenemies, the Orcs, were invaluable in devising strategies for the impending conflict.

Vecna approached the girls, acknowledging them with a nod. "Elysia, Maribel," he greeted them, his curiosity tempered by a hint of bemusement. "What's happening here? Why have you both gathered at the Mayor's office?"

Elysia, who had been listening intently to Maribel's discourse, turned to Vecna with a thoughtful expression. "Vecna, it's good to see you. Maribel's insights have been enlightening. We've been discussing our approach to dealing with the Orc threat."

Maribel nodded in agreement. "Indeed, Vecna. With your absence, we felt it necessary to gather information and plan a course of action."

Vecna quickly grasped the situation, his strategic mind processing the information. The presence of Maribel, with her wealth of knowledge about the Orcs, indicated that the Orc threat was a serious matter. He knew that Maribel wouldn't involve herself unless the situation was dire.

However, one piece of the puzzle remained elusive. Vecna couldn't quite figure out why Davian Vinespine, of all people, would be inside Reginald's office. Their rivalry was well-known, and their interactions were usually characterized by hostility. It was a perplexing situation.

Davian, noticing Vecna's arrival, offered a congenial greeting. "Ah, the man I was waiting to reward once again for the precious object he procured after a long struggle." he said with a sly smile. "I see you've noticed the changes in me. The Elixir's effects were as the Legends stated."

Vecna couldn't help but feel a sense of intrigue and curiosity mingled with his skepticism as he observed Davian's transformation and listened to his cryptic words. Davian's sudden change in demeanor while not too far from Reginald, left Vecna intrigued and somewhat puzzled.

Davian's sly smile didn't go unnoticed by Vecna, who decided to play along with the theatrical act that was unfolding before him. "Ah, that's unexpected to see you here, sir Vinespine ," he responded with a wry grin, his tone laced with a hint of amusement. "Weren't the rumors circulating around the Guild's Hall Taverns that you and sir Thornfield were at cutthroat length?"

"I must warn you that even if my services were hired in the past for the mission you've entrusted to me, right now sir Thornfield has my services for the Orc Job."

Reginald Thornfield, who had been listening to their exchange, nodded in agreement. "Indeed," he chimed in, his tone supportive of the narrative that Vecna was painting, right now the mysterious Vampire was working for him, not Davian.

Seeing the cordiality between the two men, Reginald couldn't help but think that Davian's story about how he acquired the Elixir that regained his youth made sense if the center piece was the Vampire that arrived in his office.

Since their previous meeting, he made sure to scorn the entire archives with regard to information on Vampires, and Norwood was a complicit of his. This is why the elder butler was slightly reserved, being aware that Vecna was a Legendary Vampire.

Vecna decided to join in this theatrical performance, fully aware that the true story might be far more complex than the one being presented. "It's a remarkable change indeed," he agreed, playing his part. "The Elven Elixir is said to have an unknown effect. To think that it has restored your youth is truly astonishing."

Davian, pleased with the way their narrative was unfolding, "The effects might be unknown, but I was determined to regain my youthful appearance and vitality. The Goddess Rebecca has answered to my pleas."

At that moment, Vecna felt a chill while from his inventory bag, he received a notification.

[The Slumbering Ego of the Book of Night shows disgust with the mentioning of Goddess Rebecca.]

'Man, shut up. You're almost a demon, don't pronounce the name of our Nemesis. It's as if Satan would pray to Jesus or God. It's impossible, the bridge connecting them has long been burnt to Hell.'

Vecna exchanged a knowing look with Reginald, both of them understanding that there was more to the story than met the eye. However, they chose to let Davian have his moment in the spotlight, at least for now.
