The Failed Interrogation

Damien Sterling despised lies and hated deceit more than anything. How could he forgive Riley Turner for trying to deceive him now?

"Assistant Lee," Damien Sterling called out to the driver standing by the door, his voice carrying an unmistakable command. "Take her back."

Riley Turner looked extremely reluctant, her brows furrowed tightly. Her eyes locked on Damien Sterling's, filled with defiance. Even at this point, she refused to bow to anyone. Her pride was truly astonishing.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Riley Turner enunciated each word clearly, staring directly into Damien Sterling's eyes.

Damien Sterling didn't even glance at her. He was increasingly certain that there was no spark in Riley Turner's eyes, no trace of the woman he loved. Her world held nothing that interested him anymore.

"There's nothing more to say." With that, Damien Sterling grabbed Emma Hart by the arm and walked away.
