Chapter 22 : Brothers

A little bit earlier before Leo went back home from his punishment. Tom was preparing how to tell his brother about something important.

Three hours earlier*

'I'm here, but what am I gonna do next?'

Tom was staggering to his feet, swaying a little and don't know what to do. Tom had always been thinking on becoming a hunter too, but his brother was the one who don't want him to be a hunter.

Tom was at the front door of the hunter's agency, there were many people coming in and out of the building. And every time Tom had decided to enter, he was stopped by them- him giving way to them.

'I can't go back anymore since Hunter's Agency is pretty far from home'

Tom then finally made up his mind and quickly came inside the building. Tom went straight ahead and talked to the receptionist.

"Hello sir, how can I help you?" trained in hotel and restaurant management, well-toned voice and a good posture that came from a twenty-nine year old woman.

"Uh... I'm here to sign up for a hunter license"

Tom's nervous self had calmed down a bit.

"Okay sir, I just need you to fill up this form..."

The receptionist took out a signing up form and gave it to Tom. She then gave a pen to him, find a seat and began answering.

'Hmmm... the questions are all personal'

Tom, after a few minutes had finished answering the form. He rose from his seat and gave back the form to the receptionist and the pen. She took a seat and began encoding something on her computer. It only took about five minutes and returned the form back to Tom and told him to proceed to the evaluation room.

"Thank you"

With such bright smile, Tom went upstairs and went to the evaluation room.

He was greeted, "Hello, I'm the one who runs the test here in evaluation room, my name's Jestoni Goper"

Tom showed politeness and slightly bowed his head, "I'm Tom Nicholas sir, it's nicd to meet you and I'm here to take an evaluation"

Tom gave the form he's holding to Jestoni and he instructed Tom to come his wand put his hands on the machine whilst he sat down in front of the computer.

[Scanning and analyzing]

[Completed 36%]

"Tom, is your brother a hunter?"

Jestoni said whilst punching the keyboard keys. Tom looked at him and replied, "Uh yes, he's a hunter"

"I'm right, and it's hunter Leo right?"

Jestoni smiled as he pointed out his finger to Tom.

"Uh yeah, why'd you asked?"

"Well, he was here a few days ago and he took a re-evaluation 'cause Chairman thinks he's reawakened"

Tom didn't reply and became lost in thought.

[Completed 100%]

"It's done" He clicked ctrl + P to print out the results of Tom's evaluation.

Jestoni looked at it and gave it to Tom, "That's pretty nice Tom"

Tom also looked at it and then asked if there's still something he has to do. Jestoni said that everything was done and about his license, it will be sent to him in a few days.

Leo was still looking at his rewards, he was surprised by what he's seeing .

[Reward 1 : 100,000 gold]

[Reward 2 : A skill of your choice]

[Reward 3 : An item of your choice]

[Reward 4 : You can now level up, plus 15 levels and 20 stats points]

[Reward 5 : A key to the underworld]

"This is so good, so that's why I didn't get any exp albeit I'm killing a bunch of monsters"

Leo accepted all of the rewards, there was a notification saying that there's new at the store.

[Items, Weapons and Skills]

That's what the notification is. There were a bunch of new items available at the store. But before choosing and picking what's his skill is gonna be. Leo opened his stats window and saw the increased in his stats. Leo puts 10 to strength, 5 to agility and 5 to toughness.

Leo couldn't hide how happy he is now that he can finally level up, for sure.

It was broke by Tom who went inside his room, looking all worried.

"Uh hey Tom, what're you doing here? And where's the knock?"

"I'vs knocked a few times already and you're not opening the door so I came inside"

Tom don't know if he can tell his brother, but he knew that it'll eventually came to light to his brother even if he didn't tell it to him right now.

"Oh you knocked? Didn't heard it, I've been thinking about something,. So what is it?"

The boost to his senses made him perceived Tom's worried feelings.

"Uh Kuya* I uh... have something to... uh-"

"Just say it" Leo cut him short.

"I signed up for a hunter license!"

Tom loudly said it.

"What? You want to become a hunter too?"

Leo don't know what expression to make.

"Yes..."

Leo rested his face on his palm and quietly think for a second then looked again to Tom.

"Hah! I can't do anything about it but support you"

Tom's looking down face rose and looked into Leo's. Tom was really happy, he hugged his brother.

"Thank you kuya* I thought you'll be against it" (Note: Kuya means big brother)

"At first, but I've been thinking about it too and that's your choice"

Tom hugged Leo once again and leave the room. But before that, "We'll go on a raid when you get your license" Leo said, Tom then smiled again. "Okay kuya" Then Tom finally leave the room.

"Now time to choose what skill and item it's gonna be!"

THE NEXT DAY,

Leo had received all of the rewards, he had decided to use the key he had gotten yesterday and take a look inside the underworld.

'So, I'm here at the designated point, where the key wanted me to go and open a door to the underworld. But I don't know if this is a good thing to do. The key's difficulty is S-rank, there might be a numerous number of strong monsters'

Leo was hesitating if he's going in or not because one cannot return once he went in unless he has an item use to return back and continue the raid later. And it is because he's not strong enough to take on an S-rank difficulty.

Whilst Leo was thinking whether going in or not someone called out to him. He shifted his gaze towards the voice and saw that it was Annie and Neil. They were both waving their hands while happily smiling.

Leo greeted both of them, "Hey, it's been a while, haven't heard anything from both of you ever since that incident"

"We became busy after that, we visited you at the hospital but you're no longer there"

Neil was the one who answered his question.

"There are some people asking us what happened inside but you're the only one who know what happened" Neil added.

"I'll make the story short..."

Leo told the two of them what happened inside but he changed some of the events that happened inside the door. He didn't told them the part where there were a like a ritual and fought a strange monsters and later on gave him the chance to level up.

'It seems that their level had gotten up ever since that day. They must be working hard these days'

"So, what're you guys doing here?" Leo changed the topic to stop them from asking anything about it anymore.

"Ah! We are on our way to a C-rank raid. We're one short on our team so if you'd like to... you know participate fill in the gap"

Annie hasn't seen Leo for a while, she was hesitant to sent him messages to know if he's okay after the incident. That's the reason Leo hasn't heard anything from her.

'Good timing, guess I'll have to postpone going in the underworld and make myself more stronger first"

"Okay I'm in" Leo smiled and the three of them began walking alongside each other, down the way.
