Kolten ran as fast as he could to get to the elevator. He knew he had to see Tara. As he approached the elevator. The door came open. Tara stood there looking up at him and said.

"I told you I'd be alright. We lost a few good men, but for me it was like a walk in the park!"

Kolten pulled her close to him, holding her tightly and kissed her.

She smiled and said. "You're not going to get rid of me that easily!"

With his hand clasped in hers, he took her to his room. He whispered in her ear.

"Tara I love you and I hope that someday I can be the man you deserve."

Tara started kissing him while pulling off his clothes. Kolten stopped her for a second and asked.

"Are you sure? What about us waiting for marriage?"

She looked up at him frustrated and whispered back to him.

"Shut up! You talk way too much, and life's too short. Just be here. Be here with me."

So he kissed her and laid her on the bed.

After they finished. They just laid there holding each other.

"Bzzz! Bzzz! Bzzz! Kolten's handheld went off.

Of course it was Admiral Thompson.

The message read.

Where the hell are you kid? Ground troops took over the base! We won! We're leaving the troops here to secure and rebuild. This base is crucial. Get the Shark Squadron back to their ships and let's get the hell out of here.

Quickly Kolten bolted up and got dressed. He prompted Tara to do the same. All her and the Shark Squadron had to do was escort them away from the moons atmosphere then they'd head back to Mars to fuel up and go home. This was finally it. He could go home, marry Tara and build a new life. The war was over.

Kolten led Tara and the rest of her team to the hanger. He hugged her tightly and confidently this time said.

"Babe, you got this. Let's finish up and go home!"

Tara nodded her head and with a smile she said "Kolten I love you and can't wait to go home and be your wife!"

Kolten flustered with butterflies responded saying "Diddo baby!"

She then headed to her ship, and Kolten went to his station.

"CIT Kolten! You smell like ball sweat and cum! Please tell me you used a condom? If you get that girl pregnant before the wedding... Your parents will kill you! Trust me. I've seen your dad kill for less. Your mom. Well... You know how feisty red heads can be. I mean you've got her hair. " The Admiral jokingly spoke.

He responded. "Sir we were out of condoms in the medical bay. Due to lack of female type on the ship. The ground troops used them to jerk off in!"

The Admiral laughed.

All the officers on the flight command deck applauded and cheered!

"Crsssh" "Crsssh" the room got silent so Kolten could hear and respond to the coms.

"Commander! Shark leader here. We're losing ships left and right! There's still dozens of enemy ships that haven't dispersed yet! You got brown Shark and me left! Let's pick up speed!" Tara cried and begged.

Officer Fowler shouted "thirty seconds!"

"Tara thirty more seconds then we're in the clear!" Kolten said firm as he was trying to keep calm.

"Crsssh!Crsssh!"

"We don't have time! Hur....." Tara cut off.

"Tara!" Kolten screamed.

"Pew! Pew! Pew!" blaster shots were heard.

"I love y..." Tara cut out again.

Kolten fell to his knees in tears.

"Pick him up and put him in his seat! You go grab this man a beer from the pub!" Ordered Admiral Thompson.

"No!" Kolten cried out.

Kolten pushed off the two men trying to lift him up, and he ran to the flight deck window. To his worst fear. Tara's E Defender was twirling to Earth and caught on fire when it hit the atmosphere.

"No!!!!" He cried as he fell back to the floor.

"We must go to Earth and find her!" He pleaded.

"Son we can't do that. She's gone. I'm so sorry." the Admiral trying to be as sincere as his battle hardened soul could be.

Kolten pulled out his blaster and aimed it at his head. Crying "I don't want to live with out her!"

Fowler and the Engineer officer tackled him to the ground. Admiral Thompson took the blaster from him.

"Inject him with a sedative, and take him to his room. We'll wake him up when we get home!" The Admiral demanded.
