Paige burst through the hospital doors, her eyes scanning the crowded waiting room frantically. The sound of beeping machines, murmured conversations, and rustling papers filled the air, creating a sense of chaos. She pushed through the throng of people, her heavy steps echoing off the linoleum floor.
"Excuse me, excuse me," she muttered, dodging a nurse pushing a cart of medical supplies.
She spotted a doctor hurrying down the hall, his white coat flapping behind him. Paige quickened her pace, her heart racing with every step.
"Doctor, Doctor!" she called out, grabbing his arm.
The doctor turned, his expression harried. "Can I help you?"
Paige's grip on his arm tightened. "You have to come with me. Clinton's not breathing. He's in the emergency room."
The doctor's expression softened, but he tried to calm her down. "I'm on my way to attend to another patient, but I'll send someone to check on him right away."
