Aurora was at the corner of the room with her back pressed against the wall, sitting on the cold, tiled floor.
*creak*
Her ears picked up the sound of the door being opened and closed.
She heard someone gasped before that person asked in a worried tone.
"You're still drinking?"
Aurora raised her head, turning towards the person who entered the room.
It was Kieran, with a tray of food in his hands.
He flinched seeing the dejected painful look in Aurora's eyes.
It was unbearable even for him to see someone in such a state.
Aurora stared at Kieran for a few moments before turning away from him to look down on her hands.
Her hands and fingers were bruised, still had dried blood on them.
Kieran shook his head and was about to place the tray on the glass table nearby when he saw the food he brought last night for her were left untouched.
He sighed as he walked towards the table and placed the tray in his hands, on top of the table.
"Are you going to live your pathetic life living off only alcohol?"
Aurora was silent, she didn't answer Kieran.
Feeling a bit annoyed, Kieran snapped at Aurora raising his voice.
"Are you going to mope around, like there's no tomorrow and drink yourself to death?"
Again, Aurora didn't reply.
Feeling frustrated that he can't get his words to get across to Aurora, Kieran turned back and was about to leave.
When Aurora, spoke up.
"I lost family, my friends, my children..."
"..." Kieran swiftly turned around hearing Aurora.
He thought he heard it wrong but seeing Aurora staring straight at him, those words that he heard just now were not him hearing things.
"W-wha-"
Kieran was about to ask what Aurora suddenly started spouting when she interrupted him.
"Why does it matter to you?"
Aurora clenched her bruised hands into fists before she grabbed the bottle of alcohol beside her to drink.
*gulp gulp*
She gulped down the remaining alcohol on the bottle in one go before she continued.
"Why does it matter to you whether I live or die? I'm tired of pretending to be fine, I can't act like I'm fine anymore! It's all over, it's smothering me slowly, painfully..."
There was a moment of silence before Aurora in anger threw the empty bottle in a corner, breaking the bottle.
Kieran was silent, watching Aurora banging her fist on the ground for a few a minute before she stopped.
Aurora howled, screamed and cried.
Her sobs filling his ears, Kieran could only feel pain and pity watching her.
He met the woman in front of him a few months ago.
A prideful, confident, strong, arrogant, regal woman.
Their first meeting wasn't that good, they got off on bad terms.
They fought a lot, they didn't like each other yet they acknowledged and respected each other.
His relationship with Aurora was complicated, they didn't meet the eye to eye with each other but they were partners for mutual benefits.
For Takashi's sake, Kieran tried to improve their relationship.
After months, he came to tolerate Aurora.
Their communication improved but their relationship was still the same.
Until, 10 days ago.
Kieran was depressed and wanted to drink alone and get drunk to keep his emotions numbed at his usual spot on a bridge not too far from Takashi's apartment.
When he arrived there, he saw Aurora drunk standing near the edge.
The first thing that came to his mind seeing Aurora at the edge was, she was going to jump and die, commit suicide.
He doesn't care about other people's lives, he even watched some people die at the bridge a few times.
He's also suicidal, why would he care about others?
He felt that the others were lucky to leave this 'hell', he felt envy towards those who killed themselves.
But for a moment, he didn't know why but he got scared and a chill ran up his spine seeing Aurora at the edge of the bridge.
The next thing he knew, he was standing next to her grabbing her hands.
His mind blacked out for a moment before he decided to drag her ass from the bridge to somewhere safe.
So he brought her to his apartment.
Not Takashi's apartment, but his empty apartment in the city that he never stepped foot since arriving at Starfall City.
For the last 10 days, he took care of Aurora.
Aurora was a complete mess.
She was unresponsive for the first four days, staring at some corner of the room until she was exhausted from being sleep deprived.
He had to forcefully feed her and change her dirty clothes a few times.
Slowly, she started to come to her senses or so he thought.
Aurora started to drown herself in alcohol.
He didn't have to forcefully feed her anymore.
Sometimes, he found her in some corner like today, sometimes in the bed, or sometimes at the bathroom.
She always had a bottle of alcohol with her all the time, whenever he came to check on her.
When he tried to take away the alcohol, she almost killed him.
Fearing for his life for the first time, seeing the image of the Asura overlapping with Aurora.
He didn't take away the alcohol from her again.
All this time, Aurora never spoke.
Today was the first time she spoke up.
Hearing Aurora, Kieran felt irked by her words for some reason.
He snapped at Aurora, "if you want to die then go die somewhere else! I don't know what the fu*k happened to you and who the fu*k died. Whatever it is, get yourself together! You have a brother at home and my best friend who is in love with you, there are also all of those crazy friends of yours waiting for you at your home!"
Kieran walked over towards Aurora before crouching down, levelling himself with Aurora.
He held Aurora's face with one hand forcing her to look at him.
"Lost your family? Bulls*it! Your family is waiting for you at your home. Lost your friends? I just met them today, they are concerned about you, looking for you like crazy! I've never seen Takashi like that, on the verge of breaking down. All he wants to know is if you're okay or not. All he wants to hear your voice! Every day, I see my best friend lose his sanity bit by bit. As for your children? I don't know how or what but I'm sorry! I give my deepest condolences. Why does it matter to me? It matters to me because my best friend's life is connected to you! So get your head sorted off and go back to them and leave me alone! FYI, you have been living on my roof, eating my food, drinking my alcohol too. So it matters to me too! If you die, I have to answer to them, and I don't know how to answer to them. There's also the part, the authorities poking my ass! I don't want to deal with them, and your friends and family accusing me of murder. For all, I know, nobody in the world knows where the fu*k you are except me. From outside POV, I look like I kidnapped your sorry ass! So if you die, I will have to rot in jail, never getting my sweet revenge and leaving this shit hole of a place called Earth in peace!"
Kieran huffed, breathing in some air to calm himself before letting go of Aurora and getting up from his crouching position.
"Stop moping and get your mind in order! Whatever happened, happened. You're lucky that you still have people that care about you, you still have your family!"
Kieran turned around to leave.
"There's food for you, get yourself fed." He said to Aurora before walking towards the glass table to take away the tray from last night.
He turned to look at Aurora one last time before snorting in irritation as he left the room..
Leaving Aurora alone in the room.
~~~
Kieran cursed a couple of time, standing right outside the room.
"Even though I have those two around, I'm a greedy bastard son of a bi*ch! Also, I'm too broken to fix myself... Urgh! The Fu*k is wrong with me!!!" Kieran clutched his hair with his left hand, his feelings were complicated.
"Stop it!" Kieran grumbled gritting his teeth.
There are voices in his head, each of them was different in tone but all of them were his voice.
Some mocking, some are angry, some are pleased, some unhappy, some disappointed, some are relieved.
Ever since he brought Aurora to his apartment, and started taking care of her.
The voices in his head started to disturb him more than usual.
"This woman is driving me crazy!" Kieran complained.
Looking down at the tray, he sighed.
He went into the kitchen to dispose of it, and wash the dishes.
After finishing washing the dishes.
He went to the living room before taking out his phone.
Dialling a number he called someone.
"Hello, Kieran, I'm really surprised that you took the initiative to call me." The person on the other side said picking up the call.
Kieran sighed a couple of times, rubbing his forehead.
"Patricia, are you free right now?" Kieran asked.
"Hmm, I have some appointments, I don't think I have any free time in my schedule today.
"I'm hearing the voices... I need your help shutting them off."
"..." Patricia gasped hearing Kieran.
"Well, I'm shocked! It's the first time you took the initiative to your call therapist to help you regarding your voices in your head. I will reschedule some appointments for you, come to the clinic." She said to Kieran over the phone.
"Thank you."
"..." Patricia.
"Are you really the Kieran I know? You never thanked me before... Is this some prank, you're not Kieran right?"
Patricia was having trouble believing Kieran.
Kieran rolled his eyes hearing Patricia before he hung up the call.
Looking back, he stared at the closed door of the room where Aurora is.
Shaking his head, Kieran went to his room to change.
Soon, he left the apartment of his own volition to go to the therapy session for the first time.
