Time seemed to pass quickly and the next time Alton sat down it was when the space ship had come and picked them up. It had been floating near the barrier that the Gurr Empire had set up around the planet when they first arrived. This barrier often served as a blockade during battles when enemies tried to flee the planet.
The small skirmishes that they had had with the local popullence was in the end all settled. It seemed that after several long, repeated battles the inhabitants decided to stop bothering them and resisting. So counting it as a mission complete he ordered his troops to send word to his majesty and began boarding ships back to the Gurr Empire. Unfortunately for Alton, luck just wasn't on his side.
Almost as soon as he sat down and gathered his thoughts they were attacked. And the attack wasn't one that was stopped by the automatic shields that the Battle ships had set up, it directly hit the ship. The damage done wasn't very bad, and some of the attack had been stopped by the shields but the fact that the attack went through their shields which were perfectly fine was very startling.
The attack had shook the ship, although it wasn't a big shake the slight vibrations shocked Alton, who immediately called up the main control room and ordering a swift re-group of the other ships and a response to the attack.
Practically sprinting to the ships main control he didn't mind the loss of his image, they had all seen him in way worse situations anyways. As soon as he approached the main control room he immediately noticed something was off. Several people near the control room doors were slumped over and lay still.
There was an odd scent emitting from somewhere and although almost all the doors into the control room had been locked shut, there was one door still open. By the door lay several soldiers who he presumed were nearby when the accident happened and were the first to reach the scene. Ripping off the sleeve of his jacket easily he tied it around his nose and without hesitation entered the control room.
Casting a glance at the door he finally decided to simply shut it. The odd smell did not seem promising. It was best to isolate it as soon as possible to control the people who had been infected. He only hoped that the control room pilots were ok. They were all incredible fighters and he didn't want to lose anyone else. He stepped further into the room only for another attack to send him stumbling. This attack sent even larger tremors throughout the whole ship, by now soldiers were banging on the control room doors, trying to enter.
Swifty sending our orders through his intercom he gave a brief recap while testing the breathing and pulse of the collapsed men and women in the control room. Although it only appeared like they were asleep he didn't want any more soldiers being affected. Ordering the medics to look at the collapsed soldiers by the door who had undoubtedly also been infected he could only hope that they could figure out the situation quickly. The attacks became more rapid and he could only order his men to wear face masks and use their physic power to shield their exposed skin, like he had and open the door.
Wearing a face mask given by a solider he quickly gave orders and they finally took control of the ship again. After moving all the collapsed people to the med bay he ordered them to be separated and guarded, he had no idea what was wrong with them, if the med bay was attacked it would be disastrous.
They quickly regrouped with the other battleships and heard similar experiences had happened to them as well. All their command rooms had been targeted and they still hadn't pointed where the attack came from. Alton pondered, 'Could it have been internal? Did someone betray me?' His eyes subconsciously narrowed and his brows pinched and he began emitting a low pressure.
If Alton had to guess that the attack wasn't due
to someone who was from his 'side', like the Alliance or the Federation. The people messing around here were most likely from an 'enemy', someone new perhaps?
Thinking about the several attack reports about fire power breaking through the sheilds and how the attacks weren't just from one area he came to a conclusion. This meant their were more than one ship targeting them currently, and it was possible that they were a fleet. This attacker had more than a few ships at their disposal as well as an insider to mess up their control rooms.
His frown deepened as he stared out the control room windows, watching the soldiers busy about. If their attackers had been using a something that was flying their sensors should have found it only they had not detected anything. Such high technology definitely didn't belong to the local inhabitants they had seen, and because of the Universes alliance their galaxies had made it meant that each galaxies technology was mostly shared with each other. This point added further suspicion to his idea that this was a outsider, the question was who?
When the next round of shots were fired the battle ships acted together and all the shots were successfully avoided.
¨Commander should we leave the atmosphere? Or should we continue to stay and find the attackers?¨
Alton gritted his teeth, ¨Stay! We need to know whose firing these attacks.¨
'Leaving a threat like this alone is like letting a weed grow. If you don't catch it when theirs only a small amount sooner or later they were cover everything.'
After a radio active heat sensor scan, something that all flying ships emitted, they finally found several small sized gun ships. Each carrying large guns. Altons 6th sense told him things were not as simple as they thought and sure enough he was right.
Not even a moment later several more battle ships appeared, even larger than the gunship. It seemed that the enemy had given up their camouflage. The thing Alton paid the most attention to was the fact that these ships simply appeared out of nowhere. There scanners hadn't picked up anything and if weren't for specifically looking for the radioactive heat waves they might not have found them.
The following battle was quick but deadly, two ships had been lost due to too much damage, their battle had become a full on air ship war. Their shield didn't seem to do much to stop their attackers attacks but it also seemed that their attackers did not have as quick battleships as they had. What they lacked the other had, what the other lacked they had. The fight was at a stalemate.
Although the soldiers had escaped the two ships in time and nobody's life was lost due to timely orders, it hurt Alton's pride a bit knowing that the loss could have been prevented by simply moving their ships. Their arrogance that nothing could get through their shield had eventually led to two of his ships being lost.
But it wasn't only their side that lost ships, the small gun ships that had attacked them at the beginning were all completely shot down, although reports said that it seemed that the ship controllers saw that the pilots had all successfully escaped.
Alton calmed his spiraling mind as he tried to remember any other force the Empire, Alliance and Federation controlled that may have attacked them. The big issue that was making his thoughts spiral was the fact that he couldn't think of any galaxy or planet that had such technology.
Their ships were made of material that seemed similar but not at the same time, their formations were normal-ish but at the same time small changes had been made. The way they fought was odd as well, in the end everything pointed to a new power that had emerged seemingly out of the blue. And his fleet was the first to face them.
While Alton was busy scratching his head and making calls with the Gurr Empire higher ups about this power that popped up out of nowhere someone else was doing the exact same thing.
The man's subordinates had relayed some information just a few hours ago. Someone had appeared in the New planet that they had just been put under their jurisdiction. And these people seemed to have come with the intent of taking over the planet. Their information had been delayed though because for whatever odd reason any messenger or messages that tried to leave the planet's atmosphere was trapped.
The reason being that the ships that had suddenly appeared had set up a forcefield around the planet and it had taken their people until a few hours ago to break free. But looking at the reports of the soldiers boarding their battleships it was obvious that their people had not broken free, it was more likely the invaders were simply preparing to leave and had taken down the shield.
What surprised him though was how easily the ships were hit by their attacks. Later seeing how they swiftly doged the attacks and shot down his gun ships he realized that the other side had simply believed that their guns would do nothing to their ships hence had not avoided them. Now he also realized that these attackers were nothing like he had ever seen or heard about. After some swift reports their kingdom's Emperor was sending down orders to her highest ranked General.
Her voice was stern and exhaustion was evident in her brows, ¨General Leon, try to create a ceasefire as soon as possible. We don't want any unnecessary conflict as of now. The rebels may try to use this attack as another excuse and possibly try to strike up a deal with these invaders.¨
General Leon, the one who was sent after hearing about the sudden appearance of a new power replied in a light voice,
¨Understood your majesty. Whoever is commanding these guys doesn't seem like some fluke, I was hoping to meet them anyway.¨
The emperor could only sigh at her High General's disregard to her small warning about the rebels.
¨Keep me updated.¨
With that she quickly shut down their communication, Leon could handle the situation well. She knew she no longer needed to interfere, besides she had better things to do. Her eyes hardened and she rose from her seat.
´A new power huh… I wonder what effect this will have on our situation..´
Her thoughts drifted as she walked out of her office.
