Covert Operative Team

It's mother. I couldn't believe my eyes, my mother, the CEO of this company, how delightful. Everybody nicknames her Doyenne. The most respected or prominent women in the world. While I'm just gonna, call her mom.

"Looks like we have an operator on our hands."~Doyenne.

"He's getting there, ma'am."~Ajax.

"He's ready for real work. Good job, son, I'm proud of you. Now you're officially a member of Osiris."~Doyenne.

"Oh god, no. Anyway, Mom what are you doing here?"~Jackson.

"Am I not allowed, to visit my son and see how things going? Besides, it's my training facility, after all."~Doyenne.

"Well...*sigh*."~Jackson.

"How was the simulation? Feels real, does it, son? The weather system, day and night cycle, everything. You can change scenarios and the type of mission you want. The enemy well, I ask them to go hard on you son. Luckily it's the company's soldiers. If it's out there in the real world, it's one hell of a ride."~Doyenne.

I stood idly without saying anything. Then I thought again, no wonder the enemy, during the simulation sent out assault drones, they are literally, trying to kill me!

"Ma'am, he has good high-quality training these few years and is, proud to say he is recommended to join the Osiris Special Operations Team."~Ajax.

I am shocked to hear that. That word coming from Ajax is a surprise to my mom.

"You confident of my son's ability Ajax?"~Doyenne.

"Confident ma'am. He has the potential and skill to be an Operator, ma'am.~Ajax.

Ajax said it confidently, the audacity of this man spewing something like this. I look at my mother's reaction to all this.

"Very well then. I didn't pull the strings, son, you got it on your own and you got what you wish for. Congratulations."~Doyenne.

I didn't expect her reaction to be like that. I thought she would go against it. Surprise is a surprise, I guess.

"Don't disappoint me, looking forward to your next achievement, son."~Doyenne

"Don't worry Mom, I will disappoint you soon enough. See you!"~Jackson.

After the exchange, she jumps back into her black tainted sedan and drives off to where ever she is heading.

"So what now?"~Jackson.

"Wanna meet the team?"~Ajax.

To be honest with you Ajax, I wanna take a shower and a deep sleep, but what the hell.

"*sigh* Right, let's meet the team then."~Jackson.

"That's the spirit. Let go!"~Ajax.

It's 9:00 p.m. At night and we are in a disclosed location, still on the company's grounds. I never step foot on this site before as a kid, cause some of these employees including my mother forbid me to even come close. Now as an adult, I know it's the Ops team facility. At least now I know why they always have been secretive all these years.

As we approach a steel door, I tried to immediately open the door but, Ajax stop me from opening it.

"What? What's wrong?"~Jackson.

"We gotta knock three times."~Ajax.

Suddenly I heard a clicking sound from behind us.

"Who might these two trespassers be? Hmm?"~###

A female's voice? Both of us slowly raise our hands. An Unknown threat holding a gun to our heads. I'm confused, could this be an employee? Or are we in the wrong place? What the hell is going on?

"Authenticate, yourself or I'll shoot!"~###

"AJAX-301, we came in peace."~Ajax.

"Ajax? Why didn't you say so? You know we can't bring unauthorized personnel here right?"~###

"I know, but we've got a new guy joining us today, hand selected by me. His name is Jackson Osiris."~Ajax.

Short pause.

"Wait? Jackson Osiris? Roberta Osiris's kid? What is he doing joining us?"~###

"Yeah, asking the question myself, too."~Jackson.

"Sorry about that sir, this is not how I wanted to introduce myself to you with a gun on your head sir."~###

"Please, no need for you to call me sir, besides I'm used to guns pointing at me all the time."~Jackson.

"Yes, si—I mean, I'm Irina Vinogradova. Or just call me Rina for short."~Rina.

After that strange encounter. The three of us finally went into the facility. It is quite big actually. The facility has everything in it like sleep quarters, shooting range, training simulation, armory and exoskeleton, medical care, everything you name it. It's like a small army in here. This place is where my mother's money goes through.

"I heard there are only nine members in the Ops team, right?"~Jackson.

"Yup, including you. That makes it ten members."~Rina.

"Right, everyone to the War room! We got a new member."~Ajax.

The war room is a meeting place for member-only sessions, and it's very soundproof, no outsiders can eardrop on the meetings.

"New member? From the selection?"~###

"Ajax! I want to sleep, you know what time is it?"~###

"Can we do this tomorrow morning?"~###

Some of the faces I might know, but the rest are new faces to me. Describing their features is a bit difficult, but I can try. When everyone is settled in, most of them are in surprise like Rina did.

"That's Roberta's kid?"~###

"No fucking way, Osiris family gets their hands dirty now, awesome!"~###

"This is getting interesting."~###

In my head be like can we get this introduction over with, fuck man...I'm tired. Can't we do this tomorrow?

"Sorry, to call you all this late evening, I would like to introduce you to our new team member Jackson Osiris."~Ajax.

"Let's make this quick, I'm Gaz. Welcome to the team I guess."~Gaz.

Gaz immediately got up and went back to his room. Nothing much to say.

"Sorry about that, I'm Isabelle Favreau, I'm an ex-COS French special forces. Nice to meet you, and you can call me Elle."~Elle.

"Nice to meet you too Elle."~Jackson.

A cute name so I thought.

"I'm Griffen, I too would like to apologize for that and welcome to the team."~Griffen.

"Currently there are supposed to be four others but they are currently on a mission, don't know where they currently are but they'll be back."~Elle.

"Yeah about to ask you guys, where are they?"~Ajax.

"Last seen at Sierra Leone, dealing with some package or something."~Rina.

"Sure they're fine, don't worry about it."~Griffen.

Kinda odd, but whatever. I just need some sleep. After the introduction concludes, I officially move into the facility, and all my stuff from my old apartment the company will move everything tomorrow. The benefits when your mother owns the company.

After a week at the facility, I learn that the four operatives that were sent to Sierra Leon went dark. Only six of us were left at the HQ, wondering what went wrong. The mission was simple enough, it was a cargo ship containing an unknown shipment inside. Once the cargo ship docks, the four operatives have to retrieve it "covertly". That part, something must have happened. The name of four operatives that went dark are Big Fish, Leon Kohler, Elsa Weiner, and Yamashita Hisoka. Not sure who Big Fish is but that's what the team calls him. It's one thing to get your foot in the door. Next, you gotta prove you belong there. This is my first chance.
