Orion

Gaiya woke up after a long dive into the nether, reuniting with old flames and having to face a conspiracy of galactic proportion. Compromised system, missing people, and developing new life in danger. Thrust in a decision making position, she is facing a reality that sacrifices will have to be made. What will she prioritize to save? Dear reader, Welcome to my first attempt at writing a story. I am updating as I am writing, so I apologize in advance for not being able to guarantee times in between chapters. As a binge reader myself I understand frustration of having to wait long for updates and I am striving to finish it as soon as possible. However, life happens, and sometimes interruptions are unavoidable, my apologies in advance. English is my second language, so if something can be phrased better I will greatly appreciate constructive comments. The story is developing as it's growing, so it is hard for me to summarize it at this time. The world is describes as protagonist discovers it, however a big adventure is about to begin. At this moment I have an inkling about the titanic forces driving the events, but the roads our heroes will take are yet to be discovered. N

"Please take me to the Amrita department." Gaiya asked Taras to lead the way.

Unlike before she took the hooverplatform without a fuss, having bigger things weighting on her mind. They took the portal down, to much more lower altitude that the arrival level. As they passed quite a few security fields, she wondered how in the world Orion was breached. Fear and dread were circling around her heart. 'It's ok, we will figure this out. Now that we know there is a threat we will be ready next time something will happen.' She was putting all effort into pacifying her nerves, it did little to alleviate sinking feeling in her stomach.

Finally they got to the desired room. It was a modest room with very few furnishings with a large stone basin that came up to her chest. Walls were glistening with liquid metal, slight waves indicated that the little nanobots were busy carrying their tasks.

After a while the basin begun filling up with glowing peach colored ambrosia liquid, similar to amniotic fluid used for dive, but different in the utility. While in dive, the system suspends the body in the fluid and preserves it's integrity over London periods of time; the blissful suspension is similar to a fetus in a womb, using DNA information to consistently repair and maintain the body, returning it to original form.

The ambrosia liquid was filled with nanobots, which repaired DNA as well to deal with aging, but was mostly used proactively to modify the DNA, giving user desired effects or deal with diseases. Since dive works best with original DNA information, the ambrosia effects would be reversed eventually and use of both is counter productive. Ironically, Orion staff has the best access to ambrosia, yet most get tired of back and fourth and end up as their plain selves since constant updates are deemed troublesome after a while.

She played with the idea of getting antigravity system installed in her bones and give a shot at flying like Erot. But quickly shelved that thought since it takes incredible physical and mental training to be even able to levitate few centimeters of the ground. 'That golden boy is something else, is he even human?' She mumbled to herself.

She opened an interface to verify settings. The Amrita will be used mainly for tissue repair after nanobots implant biometric and drug injectors into her abdomen. The dispenser looked a bit bulky, but it carried necessary assortment of tools for Orion to help her out.

"Taras, this looks like it is going to be a bit uncomfortable. Please stand by with Amrita, I'll be taking this out sight away after the council meeting." She didn't have to make the request, Orion wouldn't need much time to set it up. However, thinking that it was on stand by felt like it will take less time, so she made a useless request to pacify herself.

"Yes my lady." Ah Taras, gentle and understanding as always.

The basin filling almost to the half line signified that it was almost time. She scrolled through the final setting, making sure that the V. R. was enabled. Connecting to the network and getting updated on current events was the most efficient was to use the time. It's not enough time to go over everything, since there is way too much information available you can be lost for ages in it like in the nether. Some people actually chose to live out a lot of holiday time in the virtual fantasy worlds or games, well those that could afford it. Luckily Orion is going to filter it out to the bare essentials and she won't get buried under the mass of information.

When the basin filled to three-quarters of the basing it was time. She has stripped and dropped her clothing in a basket which promptly glided out of the room. Taras picked her up and carried her to the basin that would be tricky for her to get into by herself. He slowly moved her over the basin wall and lowered her down. The A.I. Begun doing it's thing and she gently floated with only her head being above the liquid.

The process begun a bit slow since it would be quite painful to just dive in, because filling lungs with fluid would feel like drowning. So she floated for a bit in the glowing peach ambrosia liquid while the anesthetics were delivered. Her eyelids slowly got heavy, and her consciousness flushed down a whirlpool that lead into virtual reality world. Meanwhile, her body begun to sink to the middle of the basing, she exhaled last air from her lungs, which was replaced by ambrosia.

And the system got to work on her.
