Chapter. Kaitlyn's retreat
Jessie aimed his gun at her, acting on a reflex due to her training she beat him before he made the second shot.....
"Noooo...." Kaitlyn wakes up wet from perspiration and tears.
Still wasn't able to get over the events that happened a month ago. She still having this nightmare once in a while. After the event she was force to take a leave of absence to be able to pull herself together and get over the guilt of killing Jessie. She undergone psychiatric sessions herself while on leave.
Unable to go back to sleep after drinking a glass of water, she went to open the sliding door of her balcony and take in the fresh and cool breeze coming from the early morning air and sea.
She came to this place to have her retreat and calm herself and to take back the control of her emotions. She can hear the slapping of the waves across the shore, which is just about 200 meters from the rest house that her aunt Debbie let her use in her retreat.
Aunt Debbie,,, she is making a life with her children abroad away from all the chaos and all the burdens brought about by her marriage to the once powerful politician in the city, but seems to be just one of those powerful politician being used by the organization to gain access for their illegal activities. After an hour the dawn will break and the area will slowly lighten up welcoming the beginning of a new day. There are just few days left from her leave and she was beginning to miss this place but eager to start again the things she enjoy doing... her work. She had written some exposé and articles while being here just to keep herself busy using her pen name nobody knows who or where she is except for her parents and Douglas. She then took her cardigan and went out after locking the door. Every morning she took a walk to the shore and gather some things that caught her interest and take it as a souvenir. She took in the view of her surroundings, after a while she covered quite a distance walking barefoot on the shoreline, the place was illuminated with the early morning sunshine and something caught her attention she went closer to the edge where the sea water meets the sand and inspect what caught her attention.
A plastic packet with white substance that look like it is in solid form that turn powdery due to the constant lashing from the
waves.
"Is it what I think is it?" she thought to herself.
On quite a distant establishment three guys was bickering.
'You shouldn't have killed him."
"And what do you want me to do? leave him to expose us so that Duteso will be after us instead? "
"Yes! he is right! let the shark feed in him that will be his only use to the society." and each of them smiled as if their crime will not be expose or so they thought.
unknown to them they are going to be in hell lot of trouble than they thought in the coming days.
"Yes come on Pinocchio, visit me what kind of a friend are you? I've been a month away and you never ever have the conscience to ask how am I coping?" she pouted making it sound as if she really is sulking.
"Sorry about that bunny, I was busy making and filing reports that you left in my care., besides I'm quite worried that you would seduce me in your distress and try to use me to alleviate your guilty conscience...."
"Hah...! in your dreams Pinocchio!!!"
"Ha ha ha , that's more like it , I can tell you're back to the fiesty old self."
"There is something I like to discuss with you as you are the expert on these things."
"Coming from you I take it as a complement. So what is it?" he lower his voice to sound like sharing a secret. But to Kaitlyn it sounds sexy and seductive. "What is going on!!! She doesn't see Doug on this way!!! besides with the events she witnessed before she made a conclusion that Doug is married to his profession and not capable to even look at the opposite sex in a romantic way and he only interest in a woman if it has a connection to his work." She thought to herself.
"Get your ass in here detective Douglas ASAP!!!" she raise her voice to cover for her wayward thoughts.
"OK,, OK no need to be excited. I know how much you miss me."
"DOUGLAS!!!!"
"Right , coming...." he hastily replied with laughter in his voice.
"Better be here today I don't have enough time to work this out."
"Then what is it really , do tell." he is still teasing her.
"Better for you to come. It's not safe talking in the phone." her tone told him that it is serious matter.
"OK. I'm coming."
