Chapter 45: Unleash The Beasts

Mordred put down the notes he took before bidding good night to Nyx. He wanted to rest before his big day, the first official hunt as an SSS rank.

In the morning, Mordred went down to the vault to grab some more coins before pulling the sleeping Nyx into his carriage to meet up with Satana and Persephone.

The group was going to hunt the level 150, B rank dungeon [Cursed Hills]. This was a dungeon filled with undead and darkness element spirits in a hilly area with a single boss.

This would be difficult for Mordred since he was level 100 while the others would also find it difficult since they were level 117 and 145 but the latter lacked in offensive abilities due to always being on teams with members who took care of dealing damage.

The second 'floor' of the dungeon was a giant lake where the boss creature of the caverns lurked. This area was located in the center of the dungeon and filled with other deadly water creatures as well.

When Mordred and Satana arrived, they were the first of their group to arrive. Mordred gave Nyx the coins to get the tokens while he stood off to the side.

It took another 30 minutes for Nyx to get the tokens and another hour before the pair of girls arrived. Coincidentally, they arrived just as it was their group's turn to enter the dungeon, leaving Mordred shocked.

'Do they have some sort of innate sensor? This is not the first time this has happened with them either.'

The group entered the dungeon with a simple plan in mind. Persephone and Nyx would deal with all the minions outside of the lake while Satana would handle the underwater minions, leaving the boss to Mordred.

This would give them all a chance to test out their newly acquired skills on powerful enemies of the under variety.

Persephone was the first to test her new ability. She used [Purification] to create a safe zone for the group where they would be able to rest and not have to worry about the powerful creatures that inhabited the area.

Mordred then spent a few thousand points buying claymores, anti directional land mines, and type 59, anti-tank mines. The former was meant to slow down enemies that got close to make them easier targets while the latter would be used in case too many were pulled over at once.

Their enemies were creatures called Chunik who were on the land while Murky-Water Spirits inhabit the lake.

Chunik were... well they were giant, bipedal zombie frogs. While they were normally very slow, their tongues could shoot out at fats speeds and cover large distances.

If that was not bad enough, their tongues were also spiked and had toxin over each of the spikes that would poison anyone who was not killed outright by the attacks.

Mordred only placed down 3 claymores and a single type 59 at once since he did not wish to accidentally damage himself or his allies in case of a misfire.

Once the area was set up, the team began to enact their plan.

"Alright, everyone. The plan is simple.

Our fastest and most durable, Mordred, to go out and attract the Chunik in groups of 5 or less before returning to the barrier.

He shall bring them into the killing zone where the claymores are placed. Then, Nyx and Persephone shall take down any enemies that entered the kill area.

If they reach 25% into the area, the claymores will activate to slow them down. This should make them even easier targets for you two.

These creatures are higher levels than all of you so do not hold back. If you do, you might end up dying an early death.

Move out!"

"Got it!" the others confirmed Satana's orders before moving out and getting into their positions.

The dragoness the role of the leader since she was at the highest level, had the aura of a leader, and the others quite frankly did not care.

Mordred activated the [Lightning Dash] skill he and Nyx obtained from the Triassic Land dungeon before sprinting off into the forest with a mace.

He learned that he could activate the spell without actually using it immediately. It was a great emergency escape or dodge skill to have.

The skill was useful for linear movements in short bursts which is exactly what Mordred wanted in case he got caught off guard.

Nyx went to the end of the clearing where she had a perfect line of sight for the kill zone while Nyx flew into the air above after cutting and blowing away the tree branches in her way so she could have a clear line of sight over the area.

When Mordred returned a few minutes later, he was followed by their expected guests.

Satana held her hand to her mouth and nose in disgust. The other two females did not do the same since they were about to enter combat but that did not stop them from showing the disgusting their faces.

The Chunik were indeed disgusting sights to see. They had the scaly, slimy skin of frogs but that was half rotten and looking diseased. Parts of their skin were also open and one could see the rotted insides of the creatures.

All in all, they looked like terrifying creatures human parents who use to scare their children into behaving with.

Satana calmed down her disgust though before giving the order, "Fire!"

Nyx began singing and her beautiful voice could be heard by everyone. No one knew what she was saying but were still in love with it.

In fact, even Nyx did not know what she was singing. If anyone were to ask her, she could only answer that it felt like those were the right words to sings.

As soon as her song began, the Chunik began making noises as if in pain and slowing down their movements.

Persephone took the chance and released a fist-sized ball of green light that shot towards the group before exploding into a larger sphere of light.

When the light receded, the Chunik were barely standing and still seemed to be suffering under the effects of the [Death Song] as well as [Purification]. With both skills affecting them, the group was sure to die soon.

But the team of demons did not wish to wait. Nyx kept singing and Persephone unleashed another green ball of light before.

When the light disappeared at that time, all the Chunik were dead on the ground. (Undead on the ground? De-Undead on the ground?)
