Instead of the gravel ground like the rest of the city, Wang Jingyuan ran down a dusty, snaking path that took her down, down, down. When the path finally widened, the scene spread out in front of her was something that she never expected to see. Tiny, haphazardly-built wooden and straw shacks sprawled for as far as the eye could see. Tattered strips of cloth hung from wooden beams or were tied around poles. Rope bridges crisscrossed through the landscape, leading to more shacks above and below. Compared with the clean, organized buildings in the parts of the Capital where Wang Jingyuan was more familiar with, this was the difference between earth and sky.
