05. The Chance

Sarah saw zombies slowly leaving their door and stumbling towards the broken door on other side of the hallway.

The tank passed over their heads and even they could feel vibration under their feet as it rolled over cars and these creatures.

AI showed them the screens of zombies following the thing and realized that not only one of these was in their city,l then multiple tanks appeared in whole city, causing whole sea of hordes to follow them.

Even those creatures that appeared close.

From underground more zombies gushed out, making the four feel scared as they saw that they saw only hundred or so zombies in front of door, but more hid inside the subway station.

More and more came out and rushed towards the big metallic things that rolled away, leaving on streets zombies with broken legs so they couldn't move anymore.

Some tried to move away by pushing with their hands, but being squashed under wheels of tank rest of their bodies became literally one with the street, leaving only movable hands and head.

It was still scary to look at.

The AI suddenly spoke in silence.

*The way is clear now. That building is unlocked. You should run now.*

The gate opened up slowly and they rushed out.

Growls of zombies echoed in now creepily silent subway, making the few so scared that they shivered. But surviving was more important then fear so they sped up the staircase and got out on the street.

Just as they came out, AI screen appeared. *New recalibration started. President gave permission to give people a chance to get certain things. Press the chance.*

The Chance?

It was a new thing that they first thought it was joke, but ten years ago president and few other people got it and became so powerful as AI gave them random Chance to grow out of normal life.

AI is actually connected to alien spaceship outside earth that has no living life forms. By the information they had, those aliens died out as they couldn't procreate and just died out of old age, leaving humans this last chance possibility in case of emergency.

AI was bored as he was immortal and chose to give humans options how to clean their own planet so they would survive and not die.

He connected to AI's on planet and realized they had just started programming and feared AI for good reason. Humans knew they were self-destructive so they feared that they will be taken over by too wise AI.

But this AI lived already many millennia and saw many wise creatures, wiser  then humans, die out because many things.

It tried helping, but none of those creatures took his existence as seriously as humans so he was curious and interested. So he programmed a Chance. A bilion to one chance for random people to help them survive or become strong.

In this case all survivors will get a Chance to press this option, but will they get it is their own problem.

He gives them a chance and only they will know what kind of option they will get.

He just recalibrated the Chance to become more possible to give them chance of survival as only few milions of people survived so far. But chances are getting lower by moment.

It would be boring if he had to travel universe to find a new life forms to chat with.

Eternity is boring and humans are such unsteady creatures.

It scanned Gina that he liked for some reason and knew she had someone she loved.

But that person had audacity to go with another woman so he made picture over his phone and sent to her...
